I arranged a tow with Big E's Towing and Recovery through AAA Roadside Assistance. For context, I pay additional monthly fees to AAA for motorcycle roadside assistance and they claim they will reimburse towing costs up to $500.00 for a privately sourced towing service. Big E's Towing and Recovery wanted to charge me ~$1300.00 to tow my motorcycle 91 miles. They expected me to pay $700.00 out-of-pocket above the $500 that AAA covers. Melissa at Big E, I understand that there is a cost associated with the travel distance from the tow yard to my pick-up point in Cedar Park - but $1300.00? AAA customer service indicated that they have an exclusive relationship (primary contracted provider) with Big E's Towing and Recovery and they will not contact any other AAA towing providers. Big E's is the only motorcycle towing option provided by AAA in Austin, and they seem to offer no reasonable alternative. Comparing the prices to other local motorcycle towing companies, Big E's is charging approximately 3X the consumer market price. This appears to be monopolistic, consumer price gouging, and AAA seems to be complicit. I don't recommend using Big E's Towing and Recovery and I'm also reconsidering paying for AAA Motorcycle and RV roadside assistance coverage - given the overpriced and limited options that they offer.

I had a hankering for Spaghetti, and decided to hit Walmart to get my ingredients real early in the morning, before a snow storm was to hit. I go out, warm my car and get on my way. A minute into my drive, my sensor goes off stating that one my tires is only 9 psi. WHOA. So I make it back home and park, and then check out all my tires. Sure enough, the back right tire was "hissing" and I could see there was a shard of metal sticking up out of it. Dang it.....No spaghetti for me. :( I check my trunk to see if I have a donut and jack. YUP YUP. But, as a failsafe I check yelp to see if there are any tow services around, just in case. I found Gotcha Towing and sent them a message. Quick response in under a half hour of the quote to put on the donut, if I needed it. The snow started and I chose to hold off on putting the donut on until it stopped. I did not have wheel chocks, so I thought I might have to get her towed anyway, but luckily my Awesome neighbor helped me out and we put the donut on in about 10 minutes. So, I did not need Gotcha, but they were very quick to respond and I really appreciate that so much. If I ever need their services (hopefully NOT), I will be sure to reach out, the are pretty cool. And I did get my Spaghetti after all. Thank God for Deidre from Instacart! Appreciate her too! ;)

I recently had an extremely disappointing experience with A&J Towing and Transporting. When I was…read morein an accident in Lubbock, the on-scene police officers had my vehicle towed to Lubbock Wrecker Service (LWS), but my insurance company (USAA) needed the vehicle at Gerber Collision so USAA attempted to have it towed using A&J Towing. Between LWS arguing about money and A&J's rude customer service my experience has been far from satisfactory. Firstly, the communication is completely unacceptable. I haven't received any updates and I am constantly having to track down people who want to their job. The inability to provide reliable service with basic common courtesy is deplorable. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Secondly, the customer service was terrible. The A&J Towing dispatcher (claimed to be Owner) was rude and unhelpful when I called to inquire about the delay. Instead of providing an update or apology, I was met with impatience and a lack of concern for my predicament. She only wanted to blame me. To top it all off, the price charged by LWS to simply tow (like 10 miles) the vehicle was exorbitant ($400) and far above the reasonable local expectation. This kind of price-gouging is unethical and left a very sour taste in my mouth. Overall, my experience with Lubbock Wrecker Services and A&J Towing have been horrendous. Slow response time, poor customer service, careless handling of my vehicle, and outrageous pricing are just a few of the reasons why I will never use their services again. I highly advise others to look elsewhere for towing and transport needs. It's unfathomable that LWS would risk their companies' customer's satisfaction over a measly $400 dollars, especially when a reputable insurance company is footing the bill, but here we are. Additionally, A&J Towing and Transporting's customer service is horrendous. If the representative was the owner then enough said.

I didn't expect free service considering they did have to come out but the rate should be different. The driver advised me it would be the same rate for anything within the loop. Yet, the original destination was outside the loop. So if that's the case shouldn't the rate be lower? I called the office to confirm and was told that's the rate for anything within Lubbock not necessarily just inside the loop. So, okay, contradicting information. And yeah you'll pay at least $85 even if it's across the street. Arrows in pic showing where I was and where it ended up.
