I went for the ashiatsu massage as working as a photographer, I carry heavy gear and I hold the tension in my upper shoulders. (Big knots). I've only had one traditional deep tissue massage before in the eastern side of the state, but If you are a fan of deep massage, ashiatsu, is the way to go. This was the best deep tissue massage, hands down. I felt transformed. Johnny C was very professional (asked me lots of questions before the massage, filled out a questionnaire, etc). He seemed genuinely concerned about my wellbeing, told me what results I should expect AND gave me the time to explain where my trouble spots were. There is a selection of music, (I chose Mozart) and the extra cool thing was that the massage table has a breast inset so it's quite comfortable and he was able to really work my crazy shoulder knots. The lighting is low, relaxing, and I just felt like a million bucks after it was over. He gave me a granola bar and a bottle of water, and I made sure to drink plenty more that night. He even gave me some tips on how to help work the knots (two tennis balls in a sock), between massages, which being on a tight budget, I really appreciated. The next day I could 'feel' that my muscles had been worked on, but I wasn't 'sore', so to speak. I am so looking forward to going back (I'm treating myself for he holiday :). I had my massage appointment yesterday with Johnny and it was definitely the BEST massage I have ever had. In fact, it was the first time I felt like just going home to take a nap afterwards! The appointment time was at 7pm which was VERY accommodating to my schedule. He was extremely professional and treated the appointment just like any of my doctors or physical therapists would have which made me feel like he knew exactly what he was doing. We spent about 15 minutes filling out a detailed medical history and going over exactly what I was looking to accomplish with my massage. During the massage he was very communicative as to what I needed to do with my breathing, arm positions, etc., but was not overly chatty which I appreciated as I was able to relax better.
