If I could give this place a No Star I would!! My father who is 81 years old and on and oxygen machine went to have his hair cut by John today June 28,2021 before going to see his dying wife my mother in the ICU @ parkwest. Dads car broke down (would not start) it was STILL IN A PARKING SPACE on his lot. Dad told John he would have a wrecker service pick it up. In the mean time I picked dad up took him to get his other vehicle so that he could still make it in time for visiting hours on the ICU floor. On his way to the hospital he stopped and got out the car power cable to keep his battery charged on his oxygen machine. Dad called his insurance company once at the hospital and they gave an estimate of 1 and a half to 2 hours for services. Dad returned to John's Barbershop about the time the tow service showed up. John came out yelling at dad for leaving his car parked in his lot for so long that he lost $100.00 in sales because of that and dad would have to Pay Him $100. to remove his car. Many choice words were said by each other, Dad didnt pay him and still had the tow service remove it from his lot. I stopped by an hour later to ask John what happened, what was real deal on trying to force my dad to pay him $100?. John yelled, so what you're here now to give me the third degree? I said Nope just wanted to hear your side.... He then started saying he lost 6 customers because dads car was parked in his lot. He had customers waiting to come in but would not because dads car was still parked in his parking lot..10 cars can park in his lot.... Long Story Short, John knows my dad is dying of IPF I told him that last Thursday when I got my haircut. He even knew my mom was in the hospital. John told me he didn't want to hear about why my dads car set there for a few hours. He said he didn't care that my dad was on oxygen and going to see his dying wife it's not his problem but losing 6 customers was! Supposedly all because ONE (1) CAR my dads car WAS IN HIS PARKING LOT! read more

Great place. It's filled with lots of powell history and pictures. Great price for what you get. He took me just as he was closing and still didn't hurry. He took his time and dis a killer job on my handle bars! Hard to find someone that can do a good job on a beard nowadays. Would definitely go back and would recommend it to anyone. read more

This is a one man chair barbershop. John is a professional Barber and knows what he's doing unlike the great clip and sport clip girls that just left beauty school. It's in the air plane which used to be a gas station on Clinton highway. Really clean inside and has a tv and theater seats in the waiting area. read more

AFSPA's long-term challenge was to find a tenant who could conduct business inside a building shaped like an airplane, and who wouldn't mind answering questions from curious tourists, or gently disappointing people who stop to buy gas. So, referencing the above info it seems the barber "John" is the total opposite and wrong guy for the job. Stopped by yesterday to check it out and it seemed like the highlight of his life is rudely making sure that "people need to understand this is a business!" This is after I said I just came by to admire it. You'd think that he would appreciate the exposure and encourage people to get the word out on social media to help his business. Attitude does matter! If he'd taken a few more seconds to evaluate me he'd maybe noticed I could have used a haircut but I'd never even give him a chance after that. The last review of the barbershop on his website from a week ago is also about his rudeness to a customer. So there you go, time to re-read the first paragraphs! read more

We elected to go to John's Barber Shop in Clinton, TN because the shop is inside this vintage airplane. This was our sons first haircut from a barber before starting kindergarten. He was so excited, however the experience left much to be desired. The barber/owner was rude and uninviting, so much so we elected to wait outside on the porch. He has little people skills and was rude to his clientele including others arriving after us. He spent the entire time looking at the clock, treating us like an imposition and ignoring our son. His barber skills, well they need improving also, our son has a spot on the right side where he clipped it way too high, said noting and failed to match the left to the right side. When it comes to your children you hope for the best and unfortunately this is a moment in time we cannot have back. We were not allowed to take photographs as he insinuated we would be in the way of others coming into the shop. I highly recommend you take your children elsewhere, and we will certainly not be returning. Great idea, great concept, poor experience as people really do make a place and this barber hasn't learned that lesson. read more

John is a great barber who can tell what you want without saying a word. He is a no bs kinda guy. He is a legit old school barber. Highly recommended. read more
