It was pretty overwhelming,I did like how they had big signs telling you which mums bloom at what time of the season it was very helpful on choosing my mum. Very clean facility ,the staff was very helpful , while the atmosphere was very enjoyable. Johnson Farm is family run and offers you pick apples, flowers, pumpkin, patch, garden mums . I was surprised that we were able to get the mums at a special offer more than three they were $18 each. I visited Johnson Farms with our family this past fall for a day of corn mazes, apple cider slushies, and fall activities for the kids. Did it deliver on all of that? Absolutely. Was it extremely expensive? Absolutely. I think that this place is likely more of a 3.5/5 but I'm bumping it up to a solid 4 star simply because my four year old had such a fun time, and we were there for hours which made the high admittance price more worth it. So let's break down what this place is like on a typical October saturday: I'd recommend going on a nice day so you can really stay and let your kids explore. If you don't have kids I wouldn't recommend going at all, simply because at the steep price of $19.99 per person (aged 3+) it's really expensive to go pumpkin or apple picking, especially when you're also paying for the pumpkins/apples. I wish they had a deal where you paid $25 per child and then the parents were free, or maybe $5. I understand that it takes time and money to keep everything up and running for the kids but for $60 just for the three of us to go I wouldn't say it was necessarily worth it, or that we would go again unless our whole family ventured that way. Once again, I will also state that there is a ton to do if you have kids between the ages of 3 and 10 that will certainly make it more worth your time if you're able and willing to stay and play outside for several hours. During peak fall weekends be prepared to stand in line for food/drinks/ restrooms, but the apple cider is great, and the folks working are super kind. Overall jury is out on if we will return in 2025 as there are other pumpkin patches that are much more budget friendly in the area. read more

I went out there today because I wanted to pick some apples, and the two orchards I usually go to had been picked over for the day. I was disappointed to find that I had to pay a $20 admission to get into the park to take a hayride out to the orchard to then pay to pick apples. So I opted to just buy a pre-picked five dollar bag of apples and leave. I will say, the apple that I just ate was delicious! I would love to get apples there again, just not interested in paying admission to the park to do so. It would be nice if they had an option for only that. read more

We liked coming to this place everything was nice and everyone was nice until one of the employees named Lindsey came up to us saying she has been watching us since we went to the corn maze and started saying we were hurting the animals when that wasn't the case we were enjoying our time until she came to ruin it and apparently it was her second day on the job. Honestly, the farm itself wasn't the best. It truly is geared for children under 12. Not much for a group of adults to do. Their staff was 5/5 though! Super friendly people. I really appreciate Johnson Farms for implementing online tickets and for having their employees wear masks. I feel like there could've been more signs asking customers to wear masks though. The produce and pumpkin fields are large enough that it was very easy to keep our distance away from other people. Paying had us gathered a little more tightly but most people have a wagon so that helps with the distance. You can also walk to the fields instead of taking the wagon. I did notice the hay in the wagons was covered in plastic so it could be cleaned so that was nice. From what I've seen this is the best pumpkin patch in the Kansas City area doing some sort of Covid related guidelines. The pumpkin selection was amazing and the prices were pretty reasonable. This was our first visit to Johnson farms but it won't be our last. I think this might be our new fall favorite. read more

I had high hopes for this pumpkin patch. I'm from the Kansas City area and wanted to try somewhere new to go to. Took my son which is still pretty young. I knew he wasn't going to get to do a lot here, but the website sounded promising. They advertise a bunch of things to do for kids, apple picking, pumpkin patch, donuts, sunflowers and more. Bought our tickets online. Came up to the entrance to scan our tickets and we didn't get any type of hello or anything. Had to wait for them to finish talking. Then they didn't ask us anything about if we had been there before or not. Later on to know that you had to pay for a bag to get apples. Also didn't give us any type of direction. Making our way out of the tent. We came across a tractor giving people rides down to the pumpkin patch and apple picking. We had a stroller so we thought we could just walk down and keep to the side, but then we were yelled at by an older man. That told us we couldn't do that and I asked him why because they had other people just walking down and he said they were STUPID. Then I proceeded to walk back up and he didn't state anything else to me about where to go to walk. So we finally found an area to walk down with a small sign that said to walk through. As we walked in a mower was coming up and taking up the whole side walk pulling the kids on. Which doesn't make a lot of sense to me because that's just as much as a hazard as the tractor. Made our way down to the pumpkin patch area and then came up on a dead coyote. Which was very nice to see and smelt terrible. The pumpkins were very small and a lot of them were smashed all over... just believe they should go over the fields before they allow people to come in to make it more presentable. Walked down to the apple picking and no one was around to help nor tell you what all was going on. So we just started picking apples. Walked back and went to the check out line and they don't tell you if they weigh just the pumpkins or the wheel barrel and the pumpkins together. So I'm sure we were paying for the weight of both. Mixed reviews but will compare to all the others around. 1. it is for profit not for charity , I prefer giving my money to charity weston red barn is charity spend your money there if you can. 2. it is huge and spread out and disorganized i saw so many people lugging wheel barrels full of stuff and huffing and puffing and not having fun. 3. The kids loved all the kids stuff in fact there was too many things and they couldnt get it all in with one visit. 4. you pay to get in many others you do not 15.00 person kids free. 5. the food is expensive , rip off expensive. 5.00 for a slushy compared to other places was too sweet and couldnt even taste the apple. 5 for a hot dog etc etc. we had a 80 dollar junk food bill. Excellent place for family fun, especially if you have a young child. Many homemade type play equipment you might expect at a pumpkin patch but many things that wouldn't expect like a fire truck and giant inflatable bounce area. Also, a place to shoot baskets/play skeet ball. Too much to mention! Then, there is the largest pumpkin patch I have seen. We didn't buy any pumpkins so can't judge the prices. Besides pumpkins, they have a giant apple orchard where you can pick your own apples and a field of sunflower.They also have a pumpkin can they shot several times when we were there. For kids hey seemed to have much fun there was enough to keep them busy for hours. The one big ( as in expense) is the cost. It's crazy expensive $17 per person over 2 years old. I don't understand why they have to charge so much. Charge $15 per kid and $5 for adults..... it's a kids event after all. They not only make money for entry but also flowers food and drinks and also vegetables that a person has to pick themselves, and an operating farm. Took 25 minutes to get in the door. They only had one food line which you had to stand in line over an hour. They really need to have more food lines - this should be obvious to them. You could here everyone commenting on this. If you come, bring your patience! Changed to one star- waited over an hour was told when I got to the front of the line that it would beANOTHER HOUR wait until the donuts were ready. We went to Johnson Farms to pick a pumpkin from a field. We were not disappointed. We walked to the pumpkin field, but you could also take a tractor ride there. Johnson Farms provided plenty of wheelbarrows at the field to cart your pumpkins in. There were a lot of very nice pumpkins and quite a variety of shapes and colors. We took a tractor ride back with the wheelbarrow. We all had a lot of fun doing it. We found out that you can also pick all types of vegetables. We'll definitely be back to pick vegetables next year. It costs $10 per person on weekends, but kids under 3 are free. There were a lot of activities. Pony rides, pig races, petting zoos were among the attractions. Kids were definitely enjoying themselves here. It's a bit expensive for what it is, but you'll definitely enjoy yourself. I would recommend a visit. read more

Amazing, especially if you go when it isn't crowded. Baby pigs, fresh vegetables, and fields of pumpkins are waiting. Best experience is if you take your kids directly after school when it isn't crowded with obnoxious toddlers, but even when it is crowded it's still fun. On the weekends, pig races occur which are fun to watch but better to pet. You are allowed to pet the racing pigs, so do that while you can. Make sure to get a season pass in mid-September so you can visit over and over. Also food is for sale, which is a bit pricey but is house-made. read more

I recently accompanied my child's class on a field trip to Johnson Farms. I've been here twice before but this was my child's first experience. She and her classmates were SO excited to play on the huge playground that is visible from the road and the giant jumping pillows. Unfortunately, they never got the chance to do either of those things. The field trip coordinator spent the first 20+ minutes talking to the kids about the rules and expectations (and there are PLENTY). She went on and on and no one could even hear her because she did not have a microphone and the wind was blowing really hard. Did I mention these kids are 3 and 4? They didn't care nor understand what the heck she was talking about since most had never been there before. The lady could have just as easily filled the numerous teachers in on the rules to share with the kids as they pertained to our activities and we could have been on our way. After the lengthy orientation speech we were directed to the tractor ride loading zone, only the driver wasn't ready, so we stood around and waited. Once in the field, we were told the kids had a whopping five minutes to pick out their pumpkin and get back on and be seated. After we arrived back from the patch we were assigned another guide who walked us through the barn where the baby piglets were. They repeatedly told the kids they absolutely could not speak because the pigs did not like noise. (Remember, these kids are 3 and 4 years old). The guide Shhhhh'd into his microphone the entire time we were in there. It was pretty obnoxious and not necessary. Five minutes later we were shuttled out and told to look at the cow, and once you looked at it, move on past so others could see it. At this point they told us we had five minutes to load up and move out for the next group coming in. A teacher asked if the kids could play on the playground for a few minutes and was told No because other groups were scheduled to arrive any minute. It was the biggest cluster of a field trip ever. The kids did not enjoy any of it because they were too busy being herded around like cattle. They didn't get to play on any of the equipment or do anything they were hoping to do. I don't know how much the school spent on the field trip but I certainly hope they request a partial refund. Their money would have been a lot better spent at Deanna Rose which is free on weekdays. Parents had to pay $6 to accompany the field trip which is rather silly in my opinion. The staff was not overly helpful, in fact, they acted annoyed to be there and one of the many old ladies employed there even scolded a mom for letting her son out of her sight. Not her place, at all. As we were walking out I asked how much it would be to return and was shocked at the prices. It is cheaper to go during the week but you don't get to experience several of the activities that are only open on weekends. This place could be fun but definitely not worth the price of admission. For the same money (maybe even less) I highly recommend the KC Pumpkin Patch in Olathe (formerly Gardner). LOTS more bang for your buck and staff that seem like they genuinely want to be there. Teachers and schools -- save your field trip money. This one was a bust. read more

Lots of pigs, chickens, donkeys and goats to pet. Save your money. Took my 2 kids today and was not impressed at all. When we 1st got there I had my kids stand by a pumpkin to take their pic. A lady working there was SO rude and told my kids not to break stems off the pumpkins. I mentioned that I was just taking a picture and she responded to me with " if you pick them up by the stem they break" .. then she had the nerve to say "do you understand " to me. She kept barking at me and wouldn't let up until she had the last word. Really? First of all, nobody was trying to pick up the stupid pumpkins. We were simply taking a picture. I bought a pulled chicken sandwich. It was dry and the bread wasn't toasted, or warmed up or anything. Just slopped on dry chicken. Tre attractions weren't great. Looked really cool from the outside. Peering in, saw lots of cool animals and could smell the baked goods. Couldn't tell you about the inside for sure, because it would have been $67 for a family of three kids and two adults, which may well be reasonable for what you get, but I didn't want to risk the amount to find out. This was on a weekend in October, so prime time - looked to be cheaper on weekdays. To be fair, there is a store and nursery that doesn't require admission to shop.
