*MUST VISIT FALL ACTIVITY* Louisberg Cider Mill is such a gem and a charming little place to visit! Just 25-30 minutes away from Overland Park and surrounding areas. The parking is easy, and during fall they have a pumpkin patch, corn maze, and family activities - currently they have opened up their activities space from 12th Sept. The parking area to the left is geared towards the fall activity and on the right you will find the country store itself along with hard cider booth, Food truck and a tiny Mill itself. Since it was 90° outside, I skipped the activities and went into the store directly. The rest of the year, the country store and mill are open I believe. It was my very first cider mill experience. And I couldn't have picked up a better place than this one - absolutely fell in love!! The store feels like walking straight into fall ... the smell inside the store will make you nostalgic instantly. The store shelves were stocked with everything from fruit butters,BBQ sauces, Loose Teas, Jams ,Preserves to pancake/donut/cake mixes, ciders, and wines along with seasonal decor and kids stuff. I couldn't help but feel like a kid again lol. I left with strawberry rhubarb preserve, Dutch apple preserve, apple butter, orchard blend hard cider, and the donuts off course. NOTE - Since I am a diabetic, I'm always searching for food items which has no extra sugar added, and I found that many of the preserves butters had no extra sugar added ... it was a win-win situation for me. The donuts are warm, golden, dusted with Sugar, and extremely soft inside. It 100% answered the question like if fall had a flavor then this could be it - very cinnamony and cider like. The Dutch apple preserves were full of crisp apple chunks huge ones, the strawberry rhubarb preserve was also perfectly made and the apple butter had a deep caramelized flavor and my husband loved the hard cider for being crisp and slight sweetness. Right next door is the mill itself, with displays of cider-making equipment and baskets of fresh apples. There's also outdoor seating to eat the purchased food. I'll definitely going to be back when the temperature cools down to explore the pumpkin patch and the corn maze. If you're anywhere near Kansas City, this place is a MUST fall activity. This is the perfect place to go in the fall! The workers are so nice and friendly! There is plenty of things to do to keep your kids entertained! My littles are 5 and under and they loved the corn kernel pit, the hay ride, and all the animals! And of course we ended our trip with an apple cider donut! The Louisburg Cider Mill has been a fall destination in KC for as long as I can remember. In fact. I'm old enough where I can fondly look back on when it was a smaller operation, known largely for their piping hot apple cider donuts and country charm. Nowadays, the Cider Mill is a massive fall enterprise, filled with everything from pumpkin picking to corn mazes, and of course, still featuring their iconic cider. Up until this past year I hadn't visited for several seasons. This was by design as when I last visited ca. 2018, I had to wait in a line to even get into the country store, which just wasn't fun at all and turned me off to the experience since I can just as easily purchase their cider at my local grocery store, and just about everyone makes an apple cider donut these days. Flash forward to present day though, and I have a four year old, and my sister with her kiddo was in town so this seemed like a decent family outing. On the day we went we prioritized getting there right when they opened and that was a smart move. We were able to get decent parking, though I should note that the parking lot, even at like 9am is still filling up fast bright and early. We got our doughnuts first and the line was short, and the apple cider treats were warm and tasty. I noticed that they also offer an alcoholic cider stand, which if I was visiting later in the day (and wasn't pregnant at the time) would have been fun to partake in. Once we were done with doughnuts, we walked back across the lot over to where you can purchase wristbands to go inside of their kid play area. I do think it's a bit inconvenient that you have to trek so far to get there, but I'm not sure they had any other choice given how the cider mill is laid out. Now, much like my critique of other fall farms, the pricing is around 12-15 dollars per person depending on if you add on the jumping area and a few other special things for kids. I do think this can add up quickly, and I wish it was all inclusive, and that there was more food/ drink available in this part of the farm, BUT it was fun and if you have kids between the ages of 3-7 I think you'd find it worth your time, especially if you arrive early before it gets packed. Overall this place is a KC icon in the fall and worth the visit if you haven't been or if you have kids. My biggest pro tip is that if you have kids go as early as you can during peak season, and if you don't have kids go as late as you can. The key here is avoiding crowds so you can enjoy yourself. read more

It was fun to watch the apple harvesting production line. They have a large assortment of very cool pumpkins (large price too, but unique). Nice gift shop but nothing I needed. They have apple cider slushies now. My friend said it was very sweet. I had an apple cider donut. It was cold, but I was there in the middle of the afternoon, so I couldn't exactly expect it to have been just cooked and hot. It was ok. Here are some quick tips to know before you go to Louisburg Cider Mill: 1. First of all, reconsider your weekend visit if you have high anxiety being in crowds. I've heard it's less chaotic during the week so maybe find time to go then. (Masks are required, but not enforced.) 2. Rent a private fire pit in advance. Fire pit rentals are $50 for 4 hours (6-10pm) and includes 2 picnic tables and hay bales for additional seatings. You're allowed to bring your own concessions, coolers, and wagons too! 3. Check out the property map on their website before you go. Make sure you pay attention to the different parking lots. For the private fire pits, check-in is at the brown barn (not the red barn). 4. We drove all the way from the Northland to come to Louisburg Cider. Unfortunately, it was a wasted drive. We were so excited thinking there was something to experience. The only experience we had was how horrible it smelled. I get that you have Apple waste...however, does it have to be the first thing you experience? O. M. G. So, we drive four and a half hours to come here, and it's worth every mile. We load up on cider, Lost Trail soda, apple butter, and way more apple cider donuts than we probably ought to get. But man, oh man, this stuff is GOOD! And when they have their cider festival the end of September/ beginning of October, you also get a craft fair, live music, and family fun activities. Everybody knows when it's the right time of year to go here. Heading down in the fall is when they've got everything going on. What everybody doesn't know apparently, is to plan accordingly ahead of time. First of all, dress appropriately for the weather. It's altogether too common to see people without enough layers that are freezing their collective behinds off. Secondly, this isn't a drive-thru operation; be prepared to take a couple hours as the wait to get inside the country store or to get donuts can take a while. If you've brought kids for the pumpkin patch, corn maze, or corn pit; that can make it an entire afternoon outing. Quick note though: Getting tickets to go do the corn maze, pumpkin patch, corn pit, playground, & etc were about $20 a head...just saying so there isn't sticker shock. Finally, part of the previous note, be prepared to spend some money. The cider & doughnuts aren't cheap, but they're also incredibly delicious and worth every penny. *Pro tip: I'm not recommending or condoning bringing your own flask of bourbon to add to the cider, but I've heard from anonymous sources that it makes the most heavenly drink. This year with Covid being a thing, masks were required along with social distancing. The enforcement level wasn't off the charts, but they did have an employee keeping track of how many folks were in the store and that they were masked upon entry. Ah the ol' classic Louisburg Cider Mill. While open year round, this has always been a fall staple for my family and I and it's worth the drive out south for a fun fall daytrip. I'm like a sorority girl when it comes to fall. I love the change in seasons, the crisp air (although lately it's more like the muggy, go-away-summer air), pumpkins, cider, corn mazes, and basically the full on embrace that hits when summer fades away. This place hits every check box you can look for. The cider is by far the best in town. No preservatives, just straight up, ground up delicious apples. You can watch the cider being made and while it's kinda cool, I'll admit it's a tad underwhelming. There's a gift shop nearby where you can grab cider (also at Hen Houses around town) and their famous cider donuts. The pumpkin patch and corn are on the opposite side and are definitely geared more towards kids. It's fun, although bound to be unbelievably packed on a nice fall weekend. What started as a roadside cider stop has really evolved into a classic fall destination and it's one I try to pencil in once per season and recommend you check it out as well! read more

Pumpkins I have never even seen the likes of before, bright orange, warts, green, white, stripped, and all shapes and sizes . Hot cider or a cider slushie? One doughnut or a dozen? Just some of the hard decisions you'll have to rough your way through. Hay ride, bounce on...whatever that really fun thing is. Sink into corn kernels, feed the goats, a rousing game of corn hole, their getting pretty creative around here. Their working with what they got and I'm loving it aaaand the rest of KC is right there with me. I drove about an hour from downtown KC from the 35 to the 69 and some places were bumper to bumper. On the way home it was a 40 min drive and traffic was mild. Right off the 68 with lots of parking, but right after a rain resembles a mud pit. I felt like it was being in someone's backyard and not at a pumpkin patch. The hayride was a circle maybe a block both ways. The slides were fun for the kids as was the corn pen. I have been coming to the Louisburg Cider Mill since I was a kid. It's definitely a "must see" for the Kansas City area, especially in the fall. The Cider Fest is an absolute blast, and although the crowds are large, they handle it beautifully. Watching he cider being made, then drinking a cup of (either hot or cold) cider is blissful. The cider donuts are also the bomb! They have an INCREDIBLE pumpkin patch, complete with a petting zoo, a fairly tricky corn maze, slides, a hay ride, and a huge blubbery, bouncy blob for jumping. This is no ordinary pumpkin patch! The pumpkins are very reasonably priced ranging from $3-$15. This is a perfect place for adults with, or without kids to play! The Louisburg Cider Mill is quite the unique experience. During the fall they host an outdoor fall festival complete with corn maze and lots of activities for the whole family. The jewel of the mill is the country store where you can find tons of tasty treats and knick knacks for the house. They have an amazing spice and herb selection as well as a plethora of jams and jellies. If you're watching you weight or blood sugar, their sugar free jellies are among the best I've ever had. I used to get the best cider I'd ever had at Pome on the Range at the Homewood, KS exit on I35. A couple of years ago I dropped in and found out that Pome on the Range had been bought out by Louisburg Cider Mill and that Pome on the Range Cider was no longer available. So I bought a gallon of the Louisburg cider only to discover that it was thin, practically tasteless, overpriced apple juice. I gave it another try recently and if anything it was worse. I came here to meet up with a few of my coworkers. I was early so I walked around and took pictures. There was a band playing music while kids and parents watched. I was able to see a big truck carrying tons of apples that eventually was dumped out. Those apples then went into the building and through the machine to become cider. There were a lot of pumpkins and kids went to pick out pumpkins with their parents. I bought a medium cold cider ($1.50) and a cider donut ($0.75). The cider was good and I tasted the apple in it. lol The cider donut was good as well. The corn maze was opened but we didn't go. A staple on my yearly fall bucket list. Just a little south of Overland Park, Louisburg is a short drive away and a perfect afternoon destination. I love stopping by for fresh cider donuts and a cider slush, and exploring the Country Store. I love being able to walk through the cider mill and see the process of making the cider and donuts. I personally think ciderfest weekends are a little overhyped. It's definitely worth checking out once, but it can get pretty crazy. I prefer visiting mid-week if I can or a non-holiday/event weekend. If the weather is nice, it's perfect for exploring the grounds, visiting the pumpkin patch, or just enjoying a couple donuts with your friends. They have a couple local vendors and food stands out, which seems to have grown over the past few years. Verdict: NOT worth it! For a whooping $40 admission for two adults and two kids, all you do is walk around and do a "hayride" on a wagon that doesn't have hay. 1. The corn maze is pathetic, it's hardly a maze. Just a bunch of corn you can make your way through. 2. The jumping pad costs extra and has a long wait. No age differentiation here, three-year-olds are jumping alongside heavy obnoxious teenagers but staff doesn't seem to care. 3. The wagon route is very short and not what the map shows, it only has two stops. If you want to check out the "historic farmhouse" (the one thing that sounded interesting), plan on a long walk across the field. 4. Other than some petting animals and a playground of sorts, there is Nothing to do. 5. It took 40 minutes to stand in line on an early Friday afternoon to get donuts. And they're not even that good! Very poorly organized sales, could easily have extra help. Herding people like cattle in the endless line around and through the country store is insulting. 6. The pumpkin patch is pathetic. Why oh why did we go there..?! We've been to many good pumpkin patches and we fell victim of hyper-marketing with this one. Will tell everyone what a dud it is. read more

Over 2/3 of play area closed due to mud and wet conditions. No one advised of this on ticket purchase. No tractor ride, slides etc. No discount on tickets or refund when asked. October is my excuse for pumpkin everything. So of course, first on my list of things to do this fall was to go to the pumpkin patch! The Louisburg Cider Mill is about 30 minutes out from the city but is definitely worth the drive. This must be one of the most popular pumpkin patches in the area because it was packed! Now parking was a little difficult because you have to park on the grass or gravel and it had just rained so it was very muddy. The first thing we did when we arrived was go get food. I picked up a couple apple cider donuts, some apple cider, and some old fashioned sarsaparilla. The donuts were absolute perfection. So soft and just the right touch of sweetness. I enjoyed all the different ciders they have here. They have normal apple cider (either hot or cold), as well as chai cider, cinnamon cider, and lemon ginger cider. The chai cider was my favorite as I am a huge fan of chai. Be sure to check out their wide selection of sodas, their turkey legs, and all of their fruit preserves, pies, syrups, and pancake mixes. The only problem I had with the store was that it is one big line right from the beginning. It's hard to look at what the store has to offer when you are herded through the store in a line. We never got to experience the pumpkin patch or the corn maze but it costs an extra $10 to get in on the weekend. Went here during Ciderfest. No need to actually visit during the festival but I do recommend visiting during their regular hours. The highlight of the visit is the Cider press and the apple Cider doughnuts. The press is more advanced than it used to be but the smell of the apples is still the same. We took my 2 year old son the other day and we're already planning a trip to return! We picked a pretty bad day to go - it was sprinkling when we left and POURING when we arrived. We brought rain jackets and just figured that the drizzle would add to the fun and appeal of a muddy pumpkin patch - it sounded so "fall-esque" in my head! We stopped in the general store when we first arrived to get Apple cider doughnuts and a cider slushie! After our 45 minute drive we were ready for snacks. We also picked out a few small pumpkins to bring home. Next we started making our way to the fall festivity area - they have everything from a corn maze for older kids/adults to a little toddler tricycle track! While we were purchasing our tickets ($6 per person over 3 during weekdays!) the rain really started coming down. We decided to take cover and wait it out in the corn pit. It was a really comfortable tent FILLED with so much corn! There were buckets and shovels and dump trucks for kids. My two year old HAPPILY spent 45 minutes playing! We kept waiting for the rain to stop but unfortunately it never did. Once all of the groups canceled for the day, one of the ladies who worked in the barn handling ticket sales came out and brought us 2 tickets to come back when it's dry so we could enjoy everything else they had to offer since we never made it out of the corn.
