Dr. Shipman was nice and seems knowledgeable but I got the feeling he was more comfortable with canine patients. When, our cat needed something more than a checkup or claw clipping, I could not have been more disappointed with this clinic. He was sick and we needed expertise which this clinic did not seem to possess. Our cat had stopped eating and was very lethargic (quite unlike him normally). I took him in and we saw another vet in the practice -- I think she was new. She ran a full panel of bloodwork that showed him in good health other than his red and white blood cell counts -- which they ran twice. The red blood cell count was dangerously low while the white cell count was very high. I was given no explanation for why that might happen -- maybe an infection of some sort?He was prescribed an antibiotic and steroids and an appointment two weeks out. He was still in rough shape two weeks later. No other theories and no alert and to the dangerously low red cell count. Finally, I took our cat to another vet, got a diagnosis, full explanation of the disease (IMHA), and a course of treatment. Over the course of the week of new treatment, he slowly showed improvement. The IMHA eventually took his life and we got another few months with him feels my better. I can't help but wonder if we could have gotten him back to full health had I taken him to the other vet earlier. I'm not able to review the clinic's care for dogs or other animals but, if your cat is a member of your family, I would definitely avoid Buckner Animal Clinic.

The staff at Elk Creek is very personable and compassionate. This isn't just a job for any of them, it's a passion. From the person who takes calls and makes appointments to the doctors to the techs, every person we've dealt with has been understanding and caring. The exam rooms are spacious, comfortable, and quiet, so that your visit is kept private. The Doctors are the best we've ever been to. They listen to you and give you sound advice that's in the best interest of the (insert pet here). We find the prices for services and medication very reasonable, and making an appointment has never been a problem. As sad as it is, we've brought two of our dogs here to say goodbye to them. It's a terrible thing to do and it's incredibly difficult, but the staff understands that. They give you as much time as you need and make sure your pet is comfortable. As heartbreaking as it is, Elk Creek does it with care and dignity. Yes, it's about a 30 minute drive, but it's worth it for the care and the compassion the staff at Elk Creek has for your pet.

The second vet ran the exact same test and was able to tell us what was wrong with her almost immediately. If I could give this place 0 stars I would.

The visit was thorough and we received a follow up call on Luna's bloodwork to confirm she was on the correct medication for her seizures. The vet also confirmed the best rotation to give her pills (thanks for settling a debate with my husband!). Price is subjective based on what you're used to and your budget. Had taken my dogs to this clinic for their yearly routine examination as well as vaccinations. Two…read moreweeks later, I noticed a large mass on the bottom of my dogs foot that was ulcerated and bleeding. I contacted the clinic to have her seen and was told it would be a couple of weeks, that they were "just overwhelmed". I explained that my dog had just been seen in the last 2 weeks and was very concerned that this mass was not even seen during her "routine examination". They were not helpful and would not budge on allowing me to see or speak to the vet. I told them I would come up to retrieve my dogs records and take her elsewhere. I arrived at the veterinary clinic shortly thereafter to find that there was not a car in the parking lot and no one in the waiting room. I find their concern for our animals to be less than optimal! I later found out that the mass was a malignant melanoma as well as another lesion on her body that the vet told me was "nothing to be worried about". She now has less than four months to live. I would not recommend this veterinary clinic to anyone!

They will take time to answer questions or talk through any concerns you may have with your pet, without making you feel like you're being rushed through the visit. They will also text or call as a follow up if there were any concerns at the appointment. For example, I had concerns about a spot on my dog's leg and they sent a couple follow up texts about a week apart to see how he was doing with the prescribed medication. Their waiting room is small and they remain busy so I also appreciate that they have you wait in your car, checking in via phone.
