Took it to the Toyota dealership was told I needed a new transmission. Without hesitation I took it to Johnson's transmission. They properly diagnosed the problem and fixed the problem. No new transmission was required. Thank goodness there are still honest people around who are not selling a job just because of the $$$ they will make. Johnson's Transmission & Auto is truly a lifesaver. On my way back from visiting family in Wilmington, the oil pressure light in my Lexus RX350 came on. I stopped on the exit to check the oil levels and hopefully add a little oil in order to get back on the road, but the engine was making a loud ticking noise. There was smoke coming from the engine bay and oil sprayed all the way up the back window of the car. That's when I decided that it was best to leave it there and have it towed to the nearest automotive shop. Thankfully, JT&AS was no more than 7 miles away from where I was stranded. Not only was I in the right place at the right time, but JT&AS is a shop that I'll begin going to regardless of the other shops that are closer to my home in Raleigh. The service was impeccable. I was looking for a reliable and reputable place to take my classic cars to for work on a regular basis. I am am active duty military leader who has spent my entire career at FT Bragg and wanted a trustworthy and fair shop. I took my 1969 Camaro to the shop for a transmission shop and disc brakes x4. I have owned the car for years and never had any issues but wanted to upgrade from a 4-speed and the drum brakes. I was very specific on asking that the car be covered to protect the paint and was assured it would be taken care of. When I picked up the car the first time their were droppings of some sort all over the car that were dark in color, I have purchased several different types of polish/wax/buffers etc but could not get the stains out of the white paint. This issue was not addressed by Jerry. Further, somehow while sitting in the shop my car developed several other problems. First I was told I needed a new speedo cable, so I agreed to have it replaced (speedo doesn't work but it did before), I went to pick up the car and the battery was dead (key was in ignition turned to acc), I replaced the battery as I was told it was bad. The next day the car wouldn't start with a new optima battery. The. I was told the alternator was bad. Paid for a new one. Next day the car wouldn't start. I was told the voltage regulator was bad. Paid for a new one and was good to go. My money apparently was the diagnosis tool used. Bottom line, even for those items covered under the 2yr warranty from the shop I would not trust this shop for anything. I would not let them work on my car for free (seriously). Very rarely do I leave reviews, but this place deserves my time. The cost to do a paint correction on my car is $1200, even though Johnson's admitted the drops came from their shop they will not make any effort to make it right. I regret ever taking my car to Johnson's. read more

Our car broke down on the way to Florida, so needless to say, we were panicking, especially since we needed to be there the next day. Eddie was a great help, even down to the smallest detail, reassuring me that "we'll help you out" when we thought the tow truck wouldn't be able to take our whole family to their shop. The second our car was towed there, they got right on it and came back quickly with a diagnosis. While we waited for the repair, we rested in their waiting room, complete with TV and numerous electrical outlets, a real asset when everyone in your party has something to charge. I had the horrible experience of breaking down while traveling today on the interstate. It was horrible and very scary well up to the point that I met Don and the owner Jerry who really were excellent and went well beyond the normal to make sure I got back home safely after diagnosing and temporarily helping me prepare my vehicle for the 8 hour journey home. They went so far as to fill jugs of water for me for the ride home when I asked what I owed they simply asked for a handshake and wished me well. How kind, how courteous, and how professional. Excellent service! Made an appointment to have my car's air conditioning checked. Since I was going to leave town in a couple of days, they checked out my car right away. Unfortunately, getting replacement parts was going to take longer than I was in town for, but they were able to diagnose the problem and charge the car with freon for a fair price. read more
