He was knowledgeable about the different types of boots, as well as being familiar with my company's boot voucher program. As the safety manager of a large manufacturing facility, I've arranged contracts with several boot companies to provide safety footwear for our employees. As a rule, I will go check these locations out to see about the selection and prices. Workwear has been a partner with us for over two years, and I've never wanted her to complaint from any of our employees about the service quality. Today was a great example, Julio stepped up to the plate, pointed out the clearance boots, help me pick out a couple different pairs, and gave me some great advice on what which ones will stand up to the rigors of my specific occupation. I walked out the door and I'm already wearing the boots. I've got. They feel fantastic, and I'm very satisfied with my visit there. I don't have a lot of patience for low quality product or poor customer service, but workwear hit the nail on the head on my very first visit there. Great job I will definitely be going back there next time I'm in El Paso and I need a cool pair of boots.

But I just had to give my two cents on Up & Running because...I just can't fathom how or why this location only has 1 review. In the last 2 years. This simply will not do. El Paso must be sleeping on Up & Running. This place is like the Macy's to our Walmart; which would make The Big 5 more like...the K-Mart to our Sears (you see where I'm going with this, right?) I know what you're thinking; "it's just shoes and stuff, right?" Here's the thing. The customer service is what separates this place from The Big 5s and The Champion stores that try to sell authentic, high quality running shoes. Because while fancy shoes are important, so is buying the correct shoe. I have flat feet which are also wide. So, imagine my surprise when the guy at the store informed me there were basically only 2 running shoes that would suit my needs. I wasn't offended by this news. What impressed me more than anything was his level of expertise. He had me walk in a straight line in socks only in order to observe my posture and stance. That's how he was able to recommend which running shoe to purchase. I've never had customer service like that in any other store. You can tell this guy understands what makes a good running shoe for the right foot. What I'm telling you all is if you're the kind of person who doesn't want to waste their time purchasing some half-assed $20 pair of fake running shoes you can purchase at Walmart and are in the market for some high quality running shoes (and aren't afraid to shell out some Tony Stark level cash), then I highly recommend you check out Up & Running. The gentleman I talked to on the phone didn't know what I was talking about, put me on hold and then came back to tell me the only thing they could do would be to order two pairs of shoes. Um, no. I subsequently called another retailer in Colorado Springs (where we found out about the program originally) and had absolutely no issues ordering two different sizes for the price of one pair, giving me a military discount, and offering to ship them to me to boot. Up & Running needs work on their phone skills/customer service, as well as apparently on knowing their product and programs available for their brands.

It was like I was walking on clouds and I could use them for both casual and more formal situations. Unfortunately, they were seeing the end of life as the tread was gone and there was enough wear on the side that a hole was forming. Luckily, right by my hotel, I drove past a Skechers Factory Outlet on my way back. For someone who has become quite the Skechers fan, this place was a little piece of heaven. There were a ton of styles and sizes to choose from and they had a sale where if you bought one pair you got the second one half off. I quickly went to the section where they had "cooling memory foam" slip on shoes and got myself 2 new pairs. I had trouble finding a size but one of the sales agents quickly came to my aid and found the last one for me. If you have an account with Skechers, you can start accumulating points towards a gift certificate so be sure to have that all set up before you come and make your purchase. I believe for every $100 you spend you get $10 to spend on your next purchase. Love this place and if I had more room in my suitcase I would have bought more!

The factory outlet doesn't just have boots, you will find some apparel, some hats, and some belts...but it's a practical barn o' boots in here. There were boots at discounted prices marked by blue (30%), orange (40%), and yellow (50%) discounts. This place is seriously awesome, it's a little smaller than the Nike store, but I would say it packs about the same selection, maybe a little less in shoes, but feels like more in clothing. Like most outlet stores the merch available won't be the latest and greatest, but I did find some fairly recent releases at unbeatable prices.
