A rite of passage, and a longing for the simple days and years of my younger times. A timeless place that transcends space and time. I grew up eating at jollibee. Several of my birthdays were celebrated here, as well as those of my cousins, relatives, and friends. The chickenjoy is simply the best. Crispy and juicylicious up to the last bite. No chicken chain can ever beat it. The pineapple drink and peach mango pie and everything else on the menu are must haves. Lol. Bec of the stupid pandemic, i had to wait 3 yrs to savour this childhood joy. Of all the locations, never thought i'd have it in calgary. Lol. With so many places claiming how amazing their fried chicken dishes are, I had my doubts about Jollibee. But after being recommended by numerous friends, I decided to give this place a try. I ordered one of the combos that came with a bucket of Jolly Crispy Chicken, a dish of Jolly Spaghetti, and three Peach Mango Pies. I also added a Big Yumburger and two pineapple drinks. Honestly... the Jolly Crispy Chicken was probably the best fried chicken I've ever had and without a doubt, I would come back again (I actually thought about coming back again the next day but I had a flight to catch...)! Why? Because it was left to sit in the car for an hour and the skin STILL REMAINED CRISPY! I'm so used to other fried chicken dishes becoming soggy after sitting for 10 minutes so I was absolutely amazed by how Jollibee's still stayed crunchy. As for the other dishes: 1. Jolly Spaghetti: a little sweeter to my liking, but nonetheless still tasted great. 2. Peach Mango Pies: another MUST GET! The crunchy outer shell tasted amazing with the sweet filling inside. My Dad actually jokingly said he would just order the outer shell by themselves if he could because of how yummy they tasted. 3. Big Yumburger: I only had a bite of this before someone ate it all (thanks Dad...) so I can't comment much. To me, it tasted like a regular hamburger. 4. Pineapple drinks: super refreshing! This is not my first time to have Jollibee. I had it before in the USA (Renton). Jollibee opened a month ago in Calgary. They announced their grand opening a week before their opening to get people talking about it. I first heard about it on the news and was excited to try the place out. I had to make a special trip to Marlborough. From my place to Jollibee is about 25 mins by C-train. It wasn't bad. The location is just super convenient. Best of all it is located in Pacific Plaza. I showed up on a Saturday (October 19, 2019) night at around 8:30pm. To my surprise the line up was 50 mins long. When we went through the line, we were told it would be 1 hr to 1.5 hours. They were pretty good at estimating the wait time. It was cold at night but because we were waiting in a tent with heaters, it wasn't too bad. There is a limit right now on how many items in each category you can get. This is to ensure the line moves fast. I ended up getting the 2 pieces of chicken with one side and the pineapple quencher. I had mash potatoes as the side. The pineapple quencher was really tasty. It was not too sweet but it does cost an extra $0.50 with the combo and also it is not unlimited refills. They have the pineapple quencher behind their counter. For food like this kind, I would prefer soda. Anyhow..... The chicken was super juicy and moist. The outside was crispy. It was definitely tastier than the Renton Jollibee location. Food came really quick. After you order, they will give you a puck and when your order is ready it would buzz and to let you know to pick it up. The chicken are constantly being fried to ensure it meets demand. It is like a whole factory production line going on at the back and is quite neat to watch. Decor is super clean inside. The staff were very friendly and they make sure all the tables are cleaned after each party has left. Hopefully, they maintain it this way but we will see a year later. I am not sure about lining up for fast food that long. But I do recommend coming here and trying their chicken if you have never had Jollibee. I would say wait couple months for the hype to die down. Note: The difference between KFC and Jollibee is that KFC skin is way more crispier and much more flavorful with lots of seasoning. Jollibee chicken meat is much more moist compared to KFC. Being a Filipino, Jollibee couldn't have come any sooner. The Filipino community has been waiting for The Bee to fly over and land in Calgary! Does the food taste like how it was in the Philippines? To be honest - nope. It is actually much better! My family and I just got back from visiting the Philippines for 3 weeks in early February 2019 and was surprised at how the Chicken Joy in the Philippines was so small and very dry. We visited multiple locations as we also held my daughter's 1st birthday party one of the Jollibees in BGC. The spaghetti tastes the same, but I find that the burgers and chicken taste better here. I'm hoping they will open a location in the SE so I dont have to drive out to the NE just to grab a Chicken Joy and Peach Mango Pie!!! read more

I went during off-peak time (Monday around 10am) waited about 20 mins. The food is delicious but the atmosphere is what makes the place. The staff are friendly and very helpful. MUST TRY: Spicy Chicken Joy with their signature gravy, Peach Mango pie and don't forget the yummy spaghetti and burger steak. Enjoy! read more

This place is awful - there was absolutely nothing that was good. The long lines and positive reviews made me think this might be a good choice for lunch - but it wasn't. The fried chicken was abysmal at least compared to all the other fried chicken places that I have been to. Specifically, the chicken wasn't very good the sking was chewy as opposed to crispy and the meat was also chewy like and old hen. In fact it was so bad that I took a bite and did not eat the rest of my meal. The mashed potatoes tasted like margarine and the brown gravy wasn't very good. I had high hopes for the Peach Mango Pie, but the pastry was not very good and it was overly sweet. The Pineapple quencher was probably the only thing that was decent, albeit a bit on the sweet side. Quite frankly I don't get it! My only explanation for the positive reviews is that it reminds most patrons of home, which I can understand. I've had Jollibee in Hawaii and HK before. I fell in love with their palabok fiesta in Hawaii and have never stopped thinking about it. I wasn't crazy about their fried chicken or spaghetti (I am not huge on the banana ketchup taste) but the palabok...! I didn't get a chance to visit them until the whole covid thing happened so I was happy to get takeout without having to wait an hour in line. I decided on the family combo which had six pieces of chicken, a large palabok fiesta and three peach mango pies. I was in happy tears as I finally reunited with the delicious taste of the palabok fiesta! I love the unami-ness of it - I've tried it at other restaurants and the version at Jollibee is just my favorite. The chicken this time was also a lot better - flavorful, juicy and crispy. The peach mango pies came highly recommended to me from a dear friend and she was right - but how can deep fried pie not taste good? I waited a couple months to try Jollibee because I told myself there was no way in hell I was going to wait in a line for this. Well I got there and there was still a line but I figured I had driven all that way so I might as well go for it. It took approximately 30 minutes to get into the restaurant which really wasn't too bad. We tried the Crispy Chicken, Spaghetti, Yumburger, and the Mango Pie. The Spaghetti was surprisingly addictive. My girlfriend also really enjoyed the Spaghetti and she tends to believe that anything sweet, sauces in particular, belong with desserts and no where near a main course. So that says something about it. The Yumburgers were just okay. They were too busy at this time so they weren't serving the burgers with any toppings besides cheese and their sauce which is why I wasn't necessarily in love with them. Don't be fooled though, the real money of this place is definitely their Chicken and those delicious Mango Pies. I'm visiting Jollibee a month after their grand opening and they STILL have a line up in a tent across the actual fast food chain. We waited 40 minutes to get inside and it was worth it considering that it was Saturday night and we had a table to sit. They had a whole system going on so that lines get shorter faster and prepped everyone's order before they arrive to the till. I had the Peach Mango Pie. It was a great alternative to the typical Apple Pie or Apple Cinammon Pie you'd get in a typical fast food chain restaurant. It was peachy and mango-y. It is super hot so wait a few minutes before biting in. The place itself is nice and new. It actually kind of mirrors McDonald's layout and wall design. They are almost overcrowded with staff but I guess they're all needed until the new year. The chicken bucket, Peach Mango pie, and Pineapple Quencher seems to be their most popular items in the menu. Just tried jollibee for the first time waited in line for 30 mins. Not worth waiting longer than that in my opinion. I ordered the spicy and original chicken and the chicken taste similar to Popeyes except their spicy one which has the spice sprinkled on and yes it was spicy! I liked the kick. I also ordered their yum burger it was similar to a McDonald's cheese burger BUT 10x BETTER! Not dry like McDonald's. Fries nothing special similar to McDonald's but not as delicious. Peach mango pies everyone loved it but I'm not a fan of pies. Their gravy is way better than Popeyes and KFC. Their spaghetti is a hit and miss because in Edmonton it's SUPER SWEET my friends said but here it had a hint of sweetness which was really good. Would I eat here again? When we got there we ordered our food and I asked the girl in the front for original instead of spicy and she just ignored me. Very rude and unprofessional. New to yelp my first restaurant review. Finally got to try this place a few months ago. Waited for the line to die down. Heard there are opening one on McLeod trail wonder what the line would be like there when it opens? Anyways try this place and think it a bit overrated. I had better fried chicken. I love fried chicken because of the skin on the chicken is the only thing that bring me back to a chicken place and this was not one of it. Apparently my son told me I have to eat it with rice and there gravy. Make it taste good, I was like really interesting. But no thank u I just like fried chicken not the whole rice and gravy with it. But I still try it wasn't all bad but my son was right. But still not for me. It an acquire taste for sure for the spaghetti was way to sweet very interesting. The mango pie I didn't enjoy it at first when it was hot it was to sweet and was deep fried. But u enjoy it the next day. I would only come back for there mango pie only. Plus some of the chicken tasted a little bloody and a little bit pinkish not sure if it was cook throughly. This is also why I didn't like the chicken. I can't believe what I experienced tonight! I married my wife from the Philippines and she arrived 2 years ago and we gave birth to our first child at 2 months old! I have been to her home many times and experienced your culture in a way I can only say was the best country I have visited in hospitality so far! This gives me pause! I went to surprise my wife tonight and ordered in Calgary, Canada location Macleod and I was in line with 6 people. After I ordered a man approached me and asked me to wait outside for social distancing. As covid 19 is here I understand but the other people were not asked to leave and 6 more people walked in while I was the only one waiting outside. I am very disappointed in your service!
