I definitely recommend this place! I've tried donuts all over the country and this place has a good product! The lady that served me was super nice, patient, and informative. The donuts were soft and fresh and the vanilla cream filling was spectacular!

Jolly Pirate is a staple in the Tristate. Of all the donuts we have tried, they remain the best! Our favorites are Devil's Food, Blueberry, Buttermilk, Apple Fritter, Glazed Cream Filled, Iced Cream Filled, and Strawberry Cream Filled. The donuts are flavorful, sugary, and always made perfectly. Whether you're visiting the Tristate or live here, I highly recommend stopping in and enjoying the Jolly Pirate's treasure!

I happen to be driving to find a coffee shop to get some coffee when I ran across this place. I stopped in and asked about coffee but they only had basic hot coffee and cappuccino. I'm kind of a coffee snob so I didn't get any coffee but I did ask what their best doughnut was. They said their original glazed is what they are known for. I tried the original glazed and I was impressed. Enough said.

A dozen bits of yummy goodness.

Love it! Fabulous service (the person who helped us has worked there for 15years!) and yummy doughnuts. Just go ahead and order a dozen. By the time you pick out all you want to try you're gonna be two shy of a dozen anyway. So, just do it. Recommend the blueberry cake, buttermilk, honey-dipped, and chocolate frosted but you really can't go wrong with any of them. Enjoy!

    So much yummy goodness

For nearly 40 years Jolly Pirate Donuts has served the Ashland and Tri-State area communities. I try my best to stop in at least once when I'm visiting my family. I stopped by for a donut before heading to the park to walk off the calories LOL. They were only allowing two customers inside at a time. My friend and I waited until someone came out and then we went in. When you walk in your nose is overwhelmed by the yummy smell. Inside seating was closed however they had a large tent outside with tables and chairs. They also had tape on the floor and did not want anyone near to the counter. The staff were friendly and patient as there were so many donuts choices. I selected my favorite, the Long John, which is a long glazed donut topped with chocolate icing and stuff with white cream. Soooooo yummy! They were out of chocolate milk which was a sign I didn't need it;) My friend ordered a donut and coffee. She said their coffee was super good. I'm already looking forward to my next trip so I can stop in for my favorite donut!

Really excellent dounuts. My Cousin brought us some of their dounuts to our hotel today for breakfast. Cream Filled Chocolate Iced...Yummy. Apple Fritter... Yummy. Cinnamon Roll... Yummy. Perfect size chocolate milks. Very fresh soft and fluffy. The Boxes are cute. If you buy a dozen you get a bakers dozen 13. Long long time ago most bakeries did that. Totally a treat to get. Only allowing 2 people at a time inside. I love it when businesses take health seriously.

So excited that we arrived before they sold out! The Apple fritter was fresh and delicious and brought back happy childhood memories!

We moved to this area back in April, and yesterday was our first visit to Jolly Pirate. The shop itself is clean and comfortable - nothing fancy, stuffy, fussy, or complicated. The service was a 10+, and I'd like to give a shout out to Jessica for making a phenomenal first impression. After sleeping on it and having a couple donuts for breakfast, there are two things that I can say for certain. #1 I cannot, and I mean CANNOT, believe that it took us seven months to walk through the front door. #2 I cannot, and I mean CANNOT, believe how good these donuts are. We got a dozen assorted - cake and yeast, standard classics, and fancier ones. So far, everything has been amazing. The yeast donuts are light and airy with a little bit of a crispness on the outside while being pilllowy and soft on the inside. The cake donuts are probably the best ones I've had and a have a great texture without being dense. And oh yeah, the donut boxes are so stinking cute. Jolly Pirate also had cookies and some other goodies, so our next visit will mean trying some of those as well. As for the donuts, you get a 13th donut free when you buy a dozen, and while that may seem like a lot of donuts, you'll be surprised how quickly you'll eat them.

Very good donuts!…read more When we walked in it was crowded and had a few people in line. They had a good selection of donuts, both in types and amounts of each. After we walked in, a fire truck pulled up, and the lady stopped helping the line to help the firefighters - although I had kids in the car and was in a hurry - it felt very small town, and that somehow added to the appeal. We got a dozen donuts including blueberry cake, devils food, honey dew, buttermilk, Boston cream, banana cream, cinnamon powdered sugar, strawberry cream, and some other one I can't remember the name of. They were all very tasty! The creams were generous, flavorful and a great texture and the powdered toppings were strong and packed on! My typical go-to are blueberry cake and devils food/chocolate cake, and they were just okay, but the rest were absolutely worth trying! Interestingly, they do a baker's dozen (13 not 12) but the 13th donut is chosen from a separate case with options that are different than the regular donut options and at other places would cost more like cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, specialty long johns, etc. we found that fascinating, as I tried to get one as part of my dozen and they said those are the free ones instead. I don't usually eat sugar, so trying donuts on this vacation was a big stretch for me, but these were absolutely worth it! If you're ever in the area and want a treat that's both authentic and tasty, Jolly Pirates is the place to try!

Everything we tried was soft, fresh, and flavorful without being overly sweet, which I really appreciated. You can tell this is the kind of place that's been doing things the same (and doing them well) for a long time. The prices were also surprisingly great, and had they been listed, I would have purchased a lot more. It's a small, old-school bakery that's clearly been a local favorite for generations, and that charm is part of what makes it special. That said, as first-time visitors, it was a little tough to navigate. Nothing is labeled, no menu, no prices, so we had to ask a few questions and rely on recommendations. Maybe it was just a busy Saturday morning, but the young woman helping us didn't seem thrilled that I was taking photos and asking about the pastries. I get that most of their customers are probably regulars who already know what they want, but for those of us just passing through, a little guidance (and patience) would go a long way. Even with that experience, I'd still recommend stopping by. The pastries really are that good, the prices are fair, and it's the kind of nostalgic, old fashioned bakery that's getting harder to find these days.

I recently saw a post on Ohio Trips' Facebook page about a charming little bakery tucked away in…read moresouthern Ohio called Four Mile Bakery. As a former chef and someone who creates food videos for my YouTube channel, I'm always searching for hidden diners, cafés, and bakeries that deserve more attention. Supporting local Ohio businesses is something I'm passionate about, so I made the drive to Jackson to see what all the buzz was about. The bakery sits along a quiet country road across from a picturesque farm with goats, horses, and cows, making the drive there part of the experience. When I walked inside, I discovered it's much more than a bakery--it's also a country general store stocked with homemade jams, jellies, sauces, and other locally made goodies. But let's be honest... the real reason for my visit was the doughnuts. Instead of the typical display case, Four Mile Bakery has a doughnut buffet where you put on plastic gloves and pick out your own favorites. It's a fun concept that lets you really take your time looking over all the incredible options. While I was filming, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Shawn. He couldn't have been more welcoming. He shared the story of the bakery, how many of their recipes were developed, and the passion that goes into what they make every day. Then came the highlight of my visit--their signature Wagon Wheel doughnut. This giant glazed doughnut is unlike any I've ever had. Most oversized doughnuts tend to be heavy, bread-like, and dense. Not this one. Somehow they've mastered the art of making it unbelievably light and airy with an almost cotton-candy-like texture. It practically melts in your mouth. It's one of the best doughnuts I've ever eaten. They also offer an impressive variety of doughnuts with all kinds of toppings and flavors, so there's something for everyone. Although they serve lunch items as well, I didn't have enough time to try them on this visit. We picked up several doughnuts along with a few items from the general store, thanked Shawn for his hospitality, and headed home. Four Mile Bakery is exactly the kind of hidden gem I love discovering. Great people, incredible homemade doughnuts, and a beautiful country setting make it well worth the drive. If you're anywhere near Jackson--or even if you're not--make the trip. The Wagon Wheel alone is worth it. P.S. Unfortunately, my camera's microphone decided to quit working during my visit, so most of the footage I captured is without sound. I guess that's just a good excuse to make another trip back to Four Mile Bakery... and somehow I don't think I'll mind having to eat another Wagon Wheel!

I HIGHLY recomnend going to both of these locations in Jackson Ohio.
