I get that most of their customers are probably regulars who already know what they want, but for those of us just passing through, a little guidance (and patience) would go a long way. I can't believe this place only has 85 reviews as of December 2024. This is a hidden WV gem and one of the places on my best of West Virginia list. The thing to get here are the "hot dogs" which are eclairs that are cut down the middle like a hot dog bun and filled with the most delicious buttercream you will ever taste in your life. The pastry bread is very soft and sweet as well with just the right amount of puffiness. I have sent dozens of people here who are passing through over the years and they all stop every time now. These things are so good that if I have friends passing through and coming to NC, I have them stop and get me a couple dozen. I really couldn't speak to any of the other pastries because I can't get past the hot dogs...I only get them 1-2 times a year at most so I'm not willing to try anything else. During my visit to WV, I made it a point to check out this bakery based on positive things I had heard from old classmates. It was a good sign when I arrived to see a decent line and people buzzing in and out of this small bakery shop. I went in a blintz..glazed donuts, cinnamon donuts, chocolate chip cookie, cream puffs, a white cupcake, pecan roll and a small white cake with white frosting. The glazed donuts were really good. Mom could not get enough of the cream puffs. The white cake was good (minus the icing which was missing something as it was overly sweet). The cinnamon donuts were alittle heavy and needed more sugar. My little niece enjoyed her cookie. I'll definitely come here again and look into ordering a custom cake so that I have a better chance of liking the frosting. read more

Let me tell you - they did not disappoint. I was expecting them to be flaky and crispy, but they were fluffy and moist like a donut! Way better than I imagined! They come in 2 varieties - plain or with chocolate drizzle. But come early, because they sell out! People around here buy them by the dozen.
