I have two dental insurance plans, yet she didn't bill either and told us to bring $3,000 in cash the morning of surgery. Later (after we went ahead and did her job for her), we learned 70% of the $2,500 procedure would have been covered ($750) and the rest being covered by our secondary insurance-- but she clearly doesn't know how to bill properly. Both insurance companies confirmed she only called at 5 PM the night before the wisdom tooth surgery to check benefits. When questioned, she told us it's up to patients to "do their own research" on insurance -- even though that's literally her job. We had no choice but to cancel and go elsewhere. Dr. Sullivan is losing business because of this -- and I doubt we're the first. Avoid unless you want to deal with billing stress and zero support.

I went in for a teeth cleaning in September, and much to my dismay 3 cavities were found. Apparently the 'new to me' charcoal toothpaste contained zero fluoride. After the cleaning 2-3 appointments were scheduled to take care of the cavities. To make things worse, I broke my front tooth a couple weeks before the first appointment to take care of the cavities. So I go in for the cavities, and now a busted front tooth. I left that appointment with all my cavities filled and my front tooth nicely repaired. My front tooth chipped on Saturday and I got lucky to get in to see Dr. MacKenna the very next Monday. She did a great job! It was my first time when I didn't get emotional and had a minimal anxiety. Her assistant Jazmyn was very nice and carrying, very confident which made me feel at ease. Temporary crown looks and feels great! I had to come back for touch up on the bite, it took a few second literally. Very exited to come back! Surprisingly Thank you very much!

My issue is with the billing practices. The practice makes patients pay up front before ever sitting in the chair. As in, I was paying the bill at check in. This means I'm paying for services that have not been rendered yet and I've had situations where my insurance has provided coverage so I paid for services out of pocket that I shouldn't have had to. They did send a refund but deducted money for other items they said were on my account. It felt sketchy. I find I have to watch the billing like a hawk and honestly I'm so utterly frustrated and flabbergasted by the business aspect of the practices I left. There are plenty of dentists who do good work and run a different business model that takes care of patients. I always left feeling that practice took care of their bank account before patients. When I questioned the billing practices I was told that's how most dentists do things now and that's blatantly not true.

When I went in to have it reattached I was made to feel like it was my fault and they wanted to charge me nearly $100 just to look at it. Remember when taking care of a patient was the first priority of Dr Bliss!

Having seen…read moreDr. Hempton previously, I knew he was the dentist (periodontist) I wanted to extract my tooth. The procedural and post operative experience was thankfully uneventful. He contacted me later that evening to see how I was feeling. I had NO pain, swelling, soreness, tenderness or bruising which can often occur following a tooth extraction. He took his time to ensure my anatomical structures (jawbone) remained in tact which is extremely important in preparation for placement of a dental implant. He also gave me frequent breaks to rest my jaw. Dr. Hempton is extremely patient and an exceptional clinician.
