I've been extremely frustrated with this practice - in fact, it's the only medical/dental practice where I've felt this way, ever. The dental care has been solid by Dr. Bliss. My issue is with the billing practices. The practice makes patients pay up front before ever sitting in the chair. As in, I was paying the bill at check in. This means I'm paying for services that have not been rendered yet and I've had situations where my insurance has provided coverage so I paid for services out of pocket that I shouldn't have had to. They did send a refund but deducted money for other items they said were on my account. It felt sketchy. I find I have to watch the billing like a hawk and honestly I'm so utterly frustrated and flabbergasted by the business aspect of the practices I left. There are plenty of dentists who do good work and run a different business model that takes care of patients. I always left feeling that practice took care of their bank account before patients. When I questioned the billing practices I was told that's how most dentists do things now and that's blatantly not true. read more

Dr Bliss always provided great care until her practice moved and expanded. Every visit since felt like a money grab. I had a crown installed in October that came out over the weekend. When I went in to have it reattached I was made to feel like it was my fault and they wanted to charge me nearly $100 just to look at it. This after paying thousands of dollars for the crown just 6 months ago. I refused to pay and while sitting in the waiting area and I had other patients tell me they feel the same. Good dentist, but egregiously expensive. The billing / revenue generating side of the business is super shady. New York City prices in a small Boston suburb. Apparently, they stopped accepting my insurance (I'm guessing because my insurance carrier isn't stupid and won't pay the super high prices that Bliss charges). They never told me and, unaware of that fact, it cost me out of pocket $400 for a filling. Stupidly, I didn't question it, even though my endodontist (from a separate practice) cost me out of pocket $285 for a root canal. When I brought my kids in for a cleaning, they finally told me that they didn't take my insurance. Since I was sitting there with both my kids, I asked how much it would cost for cleaning. They said they wouldn't know until submitting it to my insurance, which they couldn't do until they did the work, but the guy made it seem like it wouldn't be a big number. He was almost dismissive of it. I, again stupidly, thought to myself, its a cleaning, if I have to pay $20 out of pocket, no biggie. Nope, they charge $300 for a cleaning without insurance. Insurance covered $100. If you go to Bliss Dental, make sure you get prices for all work done before you get it done, even for cleaning. They will try to dance around answering your question. Be firm and learn from my own mistakes. Pin them down. read more

My experience with Bliss is very unfortunate. My partner made an appointment for me to have a crown repaired. Unbeknownst to either of us, what they'd actually scheduled me for was a "new patient visit" which is a checkup, cleaning, X-rays, etc. As I had limited time, this wasn't really an option. Initially I thought that perhaps my partner hadn't emphasized the crown repair when she made the appointment, but when I spoke to her later, she told me she did. I asked about pain management and sedation and things like that, and was told basically "we don't do that". So I left without having had anything done, but made another appointment to come back and have the crown dealt with. When I got home I used their email to inform them that it was not a misunderstanding on our part but on theirs. In response, they cancelled my appointment, and told me that they weren't interested in having me as a patient. I guess they got irritated when I pointed out their mistake. It's unfortunate because my partner likes this place a lot and all things being equal it'd be nice if we both had the same dentist. I'm not asking her to switch, but I am a little irritated that Bliss will be getting money from our household. It's frustrating trying to find a decent dentist in this part of the Metro. There's an opportunity here for a practice with a solid emphasis on customer service and comfort. read more

Total nightmare. I set up an appointment for a cracked tooth. I specifically asked about eligibility with my dental plan, and they said that I would be covered. I went for my first visit, got x-rays, and was told that I would only need a crown, not a root canal. I went in for the crown. After receiving several injections of novocaine, I still had pain. The dentist was annoyed, and acted doubtful that I was actually in pain. He started to grind my tooth. I still had pain. He took another x-ray. Whoops! Turns out, a grey shadow was rotten tooth, and in grinding on it, he had exposed a nerve. I was now in searing pain. The novocaine hadn't worked because my nerve was being poked. I was immediately referred to an endodontist down the street. He had to do a partial root canal, destroying the exposed nerve. The root canal was finished a few weeks later. The day after the completed root canal, I went back to the office to get my crown. I show up, waiting to be seen. A front desk person comes up to me and tells me that, whoops! They are NOT actually in network, and my crown won't be covered, and would I like to pay $1,500 out of pocket instead? No thanks, I replied. I received a refund for my $600 co-pay a couple of weeks later. Fast forward several months later, and come to find out, the root canal was not covered either. When I was referred to the endodontist, by this office, my coverage was apparently not a concern. I wouldn't have needed to go to this endodontist immediately, had the dentist not exposed my nerve. Prior to this, I had no pain, and could have waited to get a root canal from an in network provider. See what I mean? Nightmare. read more

Bliss Dental is first-rate in every aspect of the dental care experience. I've been a patient since 2020 when I was looking for the right dentist for a series of restorative procedures. Just the best. Full disclosure- I used to work here, assisting in the office. But since I worked behind the counter, I had a full perspective on the office and I knew for sure this was being run by excellent humans. Dr. Bliss is a gem, and does immaculate work. I just had my first ever filling done there. I went in trusting Dr. Bliss completely, since I was familiar with her reputation and saw firsthand how happy her patients generally are with her work. I experienced zero pain whatsoever from the novocaine injections or the drilling, and the filling looks great. Completely met my very high expectations. I'm moving soon and am heartbroken that I will have to find a new dentist. read more

After the passing of our dentist and family friend in 2015, my family and I hadn't thought we'd find another dentist who would give us the same type of warm and friendly experience while providing the utmost professional and pristine care -- Dr. Bliss has exceeded our expectations! She and her office staff always welcome us with a smile, and what's more is they know each of us by name when we walk in. Love that! This office also works efficiently and effectively. I personally tend to be an uneasy dental patient, but Dr. Bliss and her staff know how to ease my discomfort and make sure I know exactly what's going on throughout each appointment and what to expect afterwards. I love her!!! I am a temporary transplant from California and recently had an issue with my crown. My CA dentist said it would require a week to turn around so I waited planning to address it when I move back. Then I saw a yelp review about how Dr. Bliss makes the crowns in the office and decided to make an appointment. She is very down to earth and discussed the options with me. Dr. Bliss is the best! I first met her in Brookline and after getting a root canal from her, I was sold! When I heard she opened up a practice in Norwood, I drove down from Boston and it was well worth the trip. She is so smart and down to earth - her new office was easy to find on the first floor of a Victorian house. Because she uses the latest technology, what would normally have taken two appointments took only one! What can I not say about a great first time visit?! After having a horrible dentist experience 6 months ago at a different practice, Dr. Miranda Bliss and her team restored my faith in going to see the dentist again. From the moment I called to make an appointment, I knew that this practice was different from the rest! From the genuine friendliness I felt on the phone while scheduling my first appointment, to how quick they could see me for a routine cleaning, and the warm and welcoming staff - I was very impressed with it all! My dental hygienist, Melissa, was very patient and knowledgeable. She explained everything to me before starting any step. I appreciated this a lot! After Melissa was done with my cleaning, I met Dr. Bliss - who is so kind and also knowledgeable! She really tries to get to know you! When all was said and done, the checkout process was so easy! Melissa had booked me for a cleaning 6 months out so I didn't have to check out at the front desk! Overall, this was the best dentist experience I have had in my life! Yesterday was my first time visiting Maranda Bliss as I recently moved to Norwood. I selected her as she had very good reviews all of which she and her team lived up to yesterday. The reception area is very nice. Maranda personally greeted me there as a new patient. All of the technology in the office was very new. I was very impressed. Danielle, the hygienist, was very thorough and talked me through every step of the process which was very helpful. I am very happy with the service I received.
