I had a 30 year old Train AC that was still gallantly chugging along but was starting to show signs it was past time to replace it. I had three different companies in Springfield come out and provide quotes. The Jon Wayne Heating and Air quote for a new Train unit was right in line with one other companies quote for the same equipment. I am a real researcher before a big purchase kind of guy, so I pretty much knew what I needed and the brands that were going to meet those needs before I even had one guy out. All that was left was convincing me who to use. The third company tried to sell me on a unit I didn't want so was out of the running right there. These guys came to my house when my A/C wasn't working. I was told I had a leak in a line. They told me I'd be looking at a $3,000 plus repair so I should buy a new unit. Which was going to be over $8,000 per unit and was looking at possibly doing both units in the house which would have been over $16,000. Thankfully I was denied financing. So I called another company to come out and get a second opinion. With in seconds the technician from the other company found the leak and said "we can fix it today, it's not a big deal". Jon wayne didn't even attempt to fix my machine and i was charged over $1523 for a bandaid fix on my unit which was just taking the R22 refridgerant out and replacing with a newer refridgerant. The second company came out, fixed the leaking line, and after finding out what refridgerant was put in my unit by jon wayne technician. They suggested too use a different refridgerant due to the fact that the refridgerant that was replaced, they have noticed didn't work well with the compressors and they had a more efficient refridgerant for my unit that will keep my compressor oiled better. The second company fixed my leak and put a better refridgerant in for a total of $570. Unless your looking to waist your money, and be taken advantage of stay away from this company. The first time I called, I did not go past the person who answered the phone. A woman. She was so rude I did not even consider using them. My husband called them not knowing I had and booked an appointment. They overcharged and under delivered. It was $349 for them to tell us what was wrong, and it would have been a lot more had my husband not looked up the $40 part on Amazon. Had a 32 year old Lennox Furnace that the pilot light would not stay on and had to get up at 3 am everyday to light. Rick came out and told me that it was not repairable and needed to be replaced. 100º outside and the AC cut out at 6 PM on a Sunday afternoon. I checked out the unit and shut it off for an hour and a half. When I turned it back on, no cold air so I called Jon Wayne Hug. & Air. Got a call back and the tech offered to come out that night. It was 8 pm by that time and we go to bed at 10 or so, I said we would need to schedule for the next day. I was able to get a 3 pm appt. I got a call about 1 pm saying they could send a tech right away. The tech was there in 20 min. and took care of the problem. Everyone was good to work with. Jon Wayne Heating and Air Operations Manager, Stephen Jabro, of Springfield MO refuses to return our ($1,000) funds for duct cleanin work they were supposed to do June 11, 2021. They did not clean our ducts as they were supposed to. They said they did clean our ducts. It's obvious they did not look down the tubes. We have photos of the junk in the tubes. They were supposed to provide photos but never did. There was cat food, wood chips, bugs and even a fork with all the ducts full of smooth settled dust after the left. Yes, an actual fork that a child would eat with was still in the ducts (from previous home owner). It is obvious these guys did do the work. There would not have been the deep smooth silt if they had run the tube down the duct. Thus, I never called them back to do the work. They were either deceitful or completely incompetent. They said they won't repay me and my wife because I did not ask them to do the work again. read more

We needed a new heat pump and air handler. Jon Wayne seemed reputable with great reviews. It was an awful experience with poor quality work and questionable actions. We lost all trust for them. At the beginning, we agreed on a 16 SEER system and would get us a rebate from our utility company. The rebate was denied due to the system only being 14 SEER and it raised some serious questions. Jon Wayne claimed we were simply sent the wrong paperwork and sent us the "correct" paperwork to submit to our utility company. The new paperwork showed a better air handler with a higher SEER and would allow us to collect a rebate. HOWEVER, it wasn't the model we had. We had initially been given a cheaper air handler and felt we had been ripped off. However, when they explained there was just an honest mistake in the process, we gave them the benefit of the doubt, and allowed them to install the correct air handler. When the technicians came to install the correct air handler, it wouldn't fit and they upgraded us to a different model. More red flags for us because we were originally sold a system that wouldn't fit in the first place. As I began to look over the second install, I discovered the air handler closet was cool and had air flow and I found a large seam attempted to be filled with caulking that was leaking significant air (see picture). There was also a refrigerant leak and they had to come back again. After the second air handler install, we received the updated rebate paperwork from Jon Wayne. There was an AHRI certificate included. Each AHRI certificate has a unique number and shows data (SEER, cooling capacity, etc) of a combination of units like air handlers/heat pumps so one knows the potential of their system. The reference number on the certificate sent was 202542885 and when we put this in on the AHRI website/directory, there are 3 differences compared to the printed copy sent by Jon Wayne: model number, cooling capacity, and SEER. There is also a place to verify an AHRI certificate on the site and it could not be verified. The appearance is the 3 numbers were changed by Jon Wayne in order to provide an AHRI certificate that would get us the rebate. When I brought up these fraudulent actions with the owner, they were never addressed. With regular mistakes and lack of trust, we decided to get a refund and go with another company. We requested a full refund and to leave the units to allow another company to fix the mistakes. This was a bold request, but felt it could be justified with all of the problems and the days of our time lost due to reinstalls, fixes, research/investigation, and new bids. Even though this was just a request, the owner said it was crazy, got very angry, and yelled/cussed at me on the phone. At the end of the conversation, he said he would refund us and come get his equipment, "take it or leave it" and hung up on me. I asked the owner to get their equipment on a specific date and bring a check for reimbursement. At first, the owner said he would BUT this was contingent upon us removing all reviews from social media and anything else. We said we would not delete/edit any reviews. One of Jon Wayne's "100% satisfaction/money back guarantees" is that if a customer is not satisfied in the first year, they will remove the new system and reimburse the full contract. A few days later, they got their equipment and reimbursed us in full. If you've already done business with Jon Wayne, be sure to check model numbers and research to make sure you got what you paid for. If you're looking for a company, I highly suggest you find another company that can be trusted. read more

After 17 years my a/c unit finally stopped working and I had some prior experience with Jon Wayne Heating & Air so I contacted them to get the process started. The first tech came out twice and tried everything he could to get the old system to work but it became evident that I needed a new unit. They brought two portable a/c units for me to use temporarily since it was the hottest part of the summer and they kept the house at a manageable level. We were having issues with our AC at our house and have had numerous companies come out to figure out where the leak was. The leak was finally found and I was told by several companies that we needed to replace our condenser unit because repairs could not be made to the lines. I had an issue over the weekend with my air conditioning and had knowledge of Jon Wayne through a business associate. I called and spoke with Michael, who happened to be the tech on duty. Michael and I arranged for him to come by just a few hours later. When Michael showed up, he was dressed very presentable. As he went through checking out my system, he kept me informed of the process and findings, which were minimal and because there were no parts involved, charged for only the service call. He did go as far as checking freon levels, etc since he was there. I had an issue a few years ago and had a few companies out that told me that I was on borrowed time with my system. Michael explained that the system was in good shape and there wasn't but a couple of things he suggested, but nothing catastrophic. I would absolutely recommend calling them when you need any hvac work done. JR, the owner, even followed up with me to make certain of my satisfaction.
