Actually I wanted to go to Melbourne for a week, but I was too busy. Amble Bed and Breakfast in Hahndorf did the trick. I wouldn't usually pay $200 for an overnight stay, but I wouldn't usually stay in a bed and breakfast either so...there you go. Amble was really lovely, and I wasn't let down in any respect. One of the cleaners did accidentally walk in while I was changing at five minutes to checkout time, but that was more of a humorous incident than a let-down. The property is really beautiful. The couple who run the place have made a beautiful garden that surrounds the three separate little cottages, which back onto a big field with horses and beautiful trees. We stayed in the Amble Wren Cottage which was excellent. DVDs, free wireless, a television, miniature kitchen, sweet green oak tree wall-paper, cosy lighting, a heater and a spa. We didn't leave except to demolish all of Hahndorf's sausages and beers, stumble back and fall into the spa. Which, while we're on the topic, looked out onto a beautiful view of the countryside. The owners were very friendly but not invasive (well except for that one accident), the wifi was reliable and I got to watch Me, Myself & Irene in bed while drinking champagne. What more could you ask for? Oh, and complementary locally sourced breakfast ingredients - eggs, sausage, bacon and OJ. And fancy chocolates.

You can choose between three cottages, Wren, Over and Fern, each beautiful and stylish in their own unique way. All the cottages have a spa, come with breakfast provisions, chocolates. I figure $200 isn't really that bad, especially when your getting breakfast and free wifi, and parking isn't a prob. I've gotten cheap stays elsewhere where I've ended up having to spend heaps on extras.

The Playford Sebel Carpark is located just off North Terrace down Victoria Street. You will see the…read moresignage as you go down. The carpark is designed quite long. There is easy transition between levels, but not a whole lot of space for two cars crossing paths. I would advise driving slow through here. The elevator is located at one end of each level, so you may have to walk a bit to gain access to it. The elevator is kind of old and makes weird noises. But, it works. This is an unusual carpark, I think it is important that I point out a couple of things. Firstly, you must pay for your ticket at a ticket both near the valet part of the Playford across the street. I took a photo so you know what it looks like. There are a bunch of signs explaining this, but I see a lot of people still getting confused. The other thing is that the buttons for the elevator on the bottom level are not clearly marked. You will see a grey button. Hit that one to get into it. Final thing to note, is that this carpark is cheap if you are stopping in town during business hours. I'll just point out a few things that sticks out when I rethink the experience. The room is rather spacious, and the color choice of gold and black made the place seems very classy indeed. Bedding and pillows are very comfortable (the best I've tried so far is Pullman - Sydney). The queen bed is big enough to squeeze 2 adults and 2 kids. The coffee bar in room comes complete with a nespresso type of coffee machine. Complementary coffee available. The bathroom is alright, nothing too outlandish or special, the shampoo and body wash however is just unbelievably refreshing (yeah, I can't believe I'm saying this, I'm in love with a hotel provided shampoo) Appelles Apothecary & lab. That's the branding of the toiletries. OUTSTANDING. There's pool, and jacuzzi available in the basement. The kids love it. Oh, also a good size gym there, even though we didn't use it. All in all, a good day/night spent.

White salt flakes in a little dish and pepper in a small grinder. Funnily enough I didn't use either on my meal. We started with a plate of dips, hommous, pumpkin and I can't remember the third, it was presented with two slices of crusty bread and little crispy biscuits. The entrees came out, and I was happy to see a beautifully presented pork belly and an artfully placed carrot. My only criticism (if you could call it that) was the crackling was completely white and it would have been nice to have some colour. I think I'm being picky. The arancini balls proved quite popular at our table. Mains were served and the lamb wasn't how I thought it would be presented as my brain was thinking lamb with the bone. Those that chose ribs received a finger bowl. The lamb was delicious, and the acidic balance was perfect. Dessert was a shared banana caramel pie (one person had to leave so we had hers), and washed it down with an affogato. We did request frangelico with our affogato and oddly they had run out, so I had mine with baileys. Tia Maria might have been the better second choice. The serving was pleasing with lots of coffee beans spread on the plate. Utopia is known for their afternoon teas of scones and jam, and as a wedding/function centre with the beautiful waterfall surrounds. The water was cascading down the hill and many joggers went passed our window after their long hike. I will most definitely be back. First of all Tyson, you work at a Hindley Street, not the Chateau Marmont, so please get over yourself. When we arrived at the completely empty Bistro Sixty5, we were served by a very rude, disinterested Tyson. When I explained we had a reservation for four at 6pm, Tyson disputed that we did not. When I showed him my online booking confirmation, he said it wasn't in his book, although my online booking very clearly shows a reservation number. Tyson had the AUDACITY to tell me to move to the side so he could serve the other people in line, which was my party! Tyson was telling me off, that they were completely full and would not serve us; there was literally only one table with two customers, and a sea of empty tables with NO 'reservation' signs. There was no empathy from Tyson, who refused our service, or even an apology for a useless online booking system. I even had to ask Tyson, why he was being so aggressive, and he just ignored and said he would not be serving us. The whole experience felt very discriminatory. We then spoke with the alleged manager 'Kieran', who again, showed no empathy for the rude, non-existent 'customer service' from Tyson, or even for the inconvenience we were caused by Tyson and your pointless internet reservation system. No offer to accommodate or rectify your mistake, or even to cover the money we wasted on parking for our 'booking'. At a complete loss for words by this experience. I have received better service by teenagers in fast food; very embarrassing for your business being run by people who do not care about customers. Need an overhaul of new staff, and customer service training. Also, do not have an online booking system if you refuse to honour them. Avoid like the plague!!

I ordered the beef cheek pie. A huge serve - the delicious pastry was full to the brim with a juicy gravy and tender beef. The apple chutney created a sweet balance, amd delicately accompanied by mashed potato. The kilpatrick oysters were a good starter; but a surprise was the seafood platter which provided a very generous serving and a good selection. My favourite was the big pieces of salt and pepper squid. It tasted so fresh and cooked perfectly. The service was prompt and very friendly.
