I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding the treatment I received during my recent…read moreoncology appointment with Dr. Sachdev on 11-27-2024. I left the appointment feeling dismissed, disrespected, and uncertain about the level of care I was receiving. I would like to detail the specific issues that led to my dissatisfaction and loss of confidence in Dr. Sachdev's ability to provide compassionate and competent care. 1. Lack of Compassion and Dismissive Attitude I felt that my diagnosis of breast cancer was treated as a minor or insignificant issue. While I understand that Dr. Sachdev deals with cancer cases daily, her bedside manner lacked the empathy and compassion I expected during such a challenging and emotional time. For example, when I expressed my fear about incomplete imaging and the possibility of undetected cancer, her responses did not provide reassurance or understanding. 2. Miscommunication and Gaslighting During our conversation, I expressed concern that only one specific area of my left breast had been imaged via ultrasound. Dr. Sachdev insisted that the entire breast was imaged, but later that evening, the nurse practitioner confirmed that only the specific spot where the tumor is located was examined. This inconsistency left me feeling unheard and invalidated. 3. Inadequate Breast Exam Dr. Sachdev's breast exam did not inspire confidence. She was unable to locate the lump in my left breast until I pointed it out, which raised concerns about her ability to detect abnormalities during the exam. This made me question the accuracy of her assessment of my right breast and whether any potential issues could have been overlooked. 4. Dismissiveness of Claustrophobia and MRI Challenges I was unable to complete my breast MRI due to severe claustrophobia, despite making two attempts. When I brought this up, Dr. Sachdev dismissed my concerns and claimed she had never heard of patients being sedated for MRIs. This contradicts the information provided by the breast center's pamphlet and imaging center staff, who stated that approximately 10% of claustrophobic patients require sedation. The nurse practitioner later confirmed that referrals for sedation have been made in the past, but this option was not considered during my appointment. 5. Lack of Comprehensive Imaging Given that my cancer was not detected through mammograms but was identified only after I felt a lump and requested an ultrasound and biopsy, I am deeply concerned that I have not received sufficient imaging to ensure that cancer is not present in other areas, including my right breast or lymph nodes. When I voiced this concern, Dr. Sachdev's assurance that "cancer cannot jump from the left breast to the right breast" felt dismissive rather than thorough. Steps I Have Taken Due to these experiences, I have requested my primary care physician to refer me to another oncology center. However, I feel it is important to address these issues to ensure no other patients feel dismissed, invalidated, or inadequately cared for.

Also, that by that my hope, courage and inspiration will be an asset for those individuals. As a PA-C, LCSW and a CAS in consultant practice, I too know that treating ones' self is as easy as tying ones' shoes but, you WILL trip on the laces no matter how short they are! ====================================================== I've been a patient of Pacific Shores Medical Group since November of 2008 when my right leg swelled up to the size of a Sequoia Redwood in Yosemite. I was diagnosed with a congenital (born with but manifests at anytime) disease called MTHSR. http://mthfr.net/ http://www.genes-4u.com/genes/g4_028.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methylenetetrahydrofolate_reductase http://circ.ahajournals.org/cgi/content/full/111/19/e289?etoc Dr. Farjami, the PA-CES, Mediacal Assistants and the entire staff here are great. Almost three years into this genetic DNA conundrum and I'm doing great along with: BP at 112/74 (as opposed to 180/130). Losing 60 pounds (from 235 to175). An intense & endurance exercise regime. Coumadin, Folic Acid-B12 supplements, blood draws every Monday to insure my I & R (Prothombin Time), and monthly complete blood work have helped me become symptom free. My tenacity, overall good health, diet and a positive outlook along with good genes have been contributory to my resilience in overcoming this malady and being in remission (over a year now) is a life long goal & virture; achieving that goal has made a very strong impact on virtually EVERY aspect of my life. Also, since my Dads' death on the 3rd of January, I watched him exceed his life expectancy from Pulmonary Fibrosis-He lived 4 years longer than most patients on average; As always (even after his death) his words continue to inspire me to overcome and meet ANY challenges head on strong. And, I'm doing just that-very successfully. The communication from Dr. Farjami with my Primary Care Physician and Cardiologist is spot on so that they are all updated on this course of treatment.; As this is paramount in any course of treatment for any medical condition. And, my every six month visits with Dr. Farjami have gotten to the point of "Michael, I wish all of my Heamtology & Oncology patients were as proactive as you and this is the best physical, mental and emotional condition I've seen you in since we started treatment" Well, [Mental] is debatable! I have a totally opposite experience with Dr Wu. I am eternally grateful for her calling my primary…read moredoctor several times to get me into the hospital right away. I have an HMO primary and PPO secondary. Now I have 2 PPO to avoid this problem. She is not concerned about billings like many doctors. Her primary concern is healing. I heard her racked her brains on how she can heal her other patients and wrote letters to COH so her patients can get treatment without paying a huge sum of deposit. She is Chinese, so there might be communication issues. And do not be rude to your doctor and tell them that you know better. Nobody responds properly to rude comments or behavior. She is only human like we are. An oncologist treated me without reading my previous response to chemo and then lied to me that my first chemo was ineffective. It was really the most idiotic lie as he gave the same chemo. Fortunately, I know he was lying, but I did not say a thing. I looked for the results and told the hospitalist. The next day, I told the lying oncologist, Doc, I have good news, and he said yes, the first chemo did reduce your mass a lot. He did not even apologize for his lies and gross negligence. He was sad and could not look at me. He was sad because the hospitalist probably told him, and his glowing reputation that he built so expertly fakely now is ruined. My nice nurse heard my conversation with the hospitalist. Everybody told me I was lucky to have him, and now they know it is just the opposite. He is totally lucky because I am not my siblings. I am civilized and calm than most people. I also did not want to destroy his career, so even though insurance tried to convince me to report him, I truly did not want to waste any time on him. I think he learned his lessons.

Also, I had surgery pending and the surgeon and I needed to be assisted with pre-surgery and post surgery medication guidelines. My, initial visit was on 11/18/2019. I met with Dr. Deo and his NP, (Nurse Practitioner), Kathy You. They listened to my concerns about my INR range and concern about pending surgery. Dr. Deo was very understanding and reassuring. Both Dr. Deo and "Kathy" read my medication log dating back to 2015, and looked at a photo taken after a surgery in 2015. The photo showed my having a very large hematoma that had an infection resulting in a RN visiting my home, every day, for 30 days (including weekends). The surgery on 12/5/2019 was successful. I have ongoing contact with "Kathy" re medication dosages and with other staff. Dr. Deo is very pleasant, knowledgeable, and caring. He has over 20 years in hematology, oncology, and internal medicine. The office is in a convenient location; the staff is friendly, courteous and helpful. It is easy to book an appointment and to reach a medical person if necessary. Without hesitation, I highly, recommend Dr. Deo to my family, friends, and to you.

Dr. Deo saved my daughter's life. I'm not sure any review could be stronger than that first…read moresentence. I'm about to go on too long but let me just say, if I had another child get cancer, I'd have Dr. Deo be his/her oncologist. She was running a mile with me one day and then coughing up part of her lung the next day. Eventually we found out that, even though she just celebrated her 18th birthday, she had stage 4 cancer. Including a tumor collapsing her left lung, and various cancer spots throughout her lymphatic system. Dr. Deo was very proactive in his treatment of her. He came to us before we even knew it was cancer. He started her on stuff in preparation for the treatments she'd need if it was in fact cancer. Turns out he gave us a 2 day head start. When a pick line couldn't be used, due to the tumor blocking the area, he called in a surgeon on the weekend to come in to put in a portacath, in order to start her chemo immediately. He told her he'd try to get her to prom and graduation. Two things she was very sad about possibly missing out on, due to the harshness of chemotherapy. Sure enough, he was right. I met with 3 other specialists from other top oncology centers and everyone had their own ideas for treatment. I also studied the most recent medical studies online and saw that his choice of treatment was the ideal one at this time. Dr. Deo is a man of little words, but one that keeps up to date on the latest oncology treatments. He would have weekly meetings with his team of other oncologists about my daughter, and get feedback. He has an excellent chemist in office and was able to tinker with various meds to keep my little girl as comfortable as possible during and between treatments. My girl is almost 20 now and has had clean scans for over a year. No signs of cancer. She's now a college scholarship athlete and doing great in school. Thanks to Dr. Deo, his team of oncologists, nurses, chemist, receptionist, and staff.
