I am writing to formally express my concerns regarding the treatment I received during my recent oncology appointment with Dr. Sachdev on 11-27-2024. I left the appointment feeling dismissed, disrespected, and uncertain about the level of care I was receiving. I would like to detail the specific issues that led to my dissatisfaction and loss of confidence in Dr. Sachdev's ability to provide compassionate and competent care. 1. Lack of Compassion and Dismissive Attitude I felt that my diagnosis of breast cancer was treated as a minor or insignificant issue. While I understand that Dr. Sachdev deals with cancer cases daily, her bedside manner lacked the empathy and compassion I expected during such a challenging and emotional time. For example, when I expressed my fear about incomplete imaging and the possibility of undetected cancer, her responses did not provide reassurance or understanding. 2. Miscommunication and Gaslighting During our conversation, I expressed concern that only one specific area of my left breast had been imaged via ultrasound. Dr. Sachdev insisted that the entire breast was imaged, but later that evening, the nurse practitioner confirmed that only the specific spot where the tumor is located was examined. This inconsistency left me feeling unheard and invalidated. 3. Inadequate Breast Exam Dr. Sachdev's breast exam did not inspire confidence. She was unable to locate the lump in my left breast until I pointed it out, which raised concerns about her ability to detect abnormalities during the exam. This made me question the accuracy of her assessment of my right breast and whether any potential issues could have been overlooked. 4. Dismissiveness of Claustrophobia and MRI Challenges I was unable to complete my breast MRI due to severe claustrophobia, despite making two attempts. When I brought this up, Dr. Sachdev dismissed my concerns and claimed she had never heard of patients being sedated for MRIs. This contradicts the information provided by the breast center's pamphlet and imaging center staff, who stated that approximately 10% of claustrophobic patients require sedation. The nurse practitioner later confirmed that referrals for sedation have been made in the past, but this option was not considered during my appointment. 5. Lack of Comprehensive Imaging Given that my cancer was not detected through mammograms but was identified only after I felt a lump and requested an ultrasound and biopsy, I am deeply concerned that I have not received sufficient imaging to ensure that cancer is not present in other areas, including my right breast or lymph nodes. When I voiced this concern, Dr. Sachdev's assurance that "cancer cannot jump from the left breast to the right breast" felt dismissive rather than thorough. Steps I Have Taken Due to these experiences, I have requested my primary care physician to refer me to another oncology center. However, I feel it is important to address these issues to ensure no other patients feel dismissed, invalidated, or inadequately cared for. read more

This is for the urology clinic: I was in the hospital and after discharge, I needed to make a follow-up visit to see the urologist. I called the exchange, and they gave me an appointment six weeks away. No matter how much explaining I did it didn't matter, I couldn't get into see my dr any sooner. I'm in pain from the catheter, the doctor said I may need surgery. In addition, if you call and leave a callback number, they will never return your call. Goddamn, these people. read more

Please go to City Of Hope or Torrance Memorial do not come here Mary the nurse practitioner will lie to to your face and tell you that you're getting better to where she even draws pictures and show you how the cancer is disappearing. She actually sat there and drew a picture and told us the cancer is all gone without even doing a CT scan then she says well because she lost herhair, the chemo is working, we finally got a CT scan and the cancer spread everywhere. Mary doesn't know her head from her rear go see someone else this place is a joke and they're gonna have a huge lawsuit pretty soon. read more

My grandmother goes in for chemotherapy every 3 weeks And every time she's been there every nurses is so wonderful caring they make sure they want to make the patient is as comfortable as possible they don't get annoyed if you ask too many questions and are fully concerned and take the time out to make sure you don't need anything etc I especially want to bring attention to Stacy Parker Byone she is absolutely amazing. Anytime I have concerns or questions she gives a prompt response does check ins etc I wouldn't hesitate to get "care" hear because they definitely have been a great experience through such a hard time. 5 stars! They also offer a parking pass for 50 Dollars a year instead of 6 dollars for every time you get out and inside of the facility. read more

TCP has been my second home for the past year . Everyone there has been extremely nice. I've had my mammogram and ultrasounds here many times , and was well taken care of. The infusion center is amazing . All of their admin , staff and nurses are the best . I love them so much. The lymphedema office is also great ! They have taken great care of me post mastectomy. Professional and nice staff. Clean and updated facility. Excellent changing and waiting rooms with robes and lockers. $6 flat fee for parking even though I was there for less than 1 hour. The fees should be based on time spent at the facility with a $6 maximum rate. They have automated machines to pay for parking that accept cash, debit, and credit cards. read more

This building has caused me nothing but anxiety and never ending emotional turmoil! Just pulling into the parking lot causes unbelievable levels of anxiety! Seeing the word cancer on the building causes me anxiety! Walking inside and being subjected to posters and flyers for cancer walks, cancer survivors, cancer inspirational quotes, framed cancer artwork, the list goes on and on.... Some of us are just here to get treatment and get on with life! The security desk when you enter is a complete joke. You are "greeted" by a rent-a-cop and a volunteer. They ask where you are going and direct you if needed. But first they have you write down your name, they take your temperature, and give you a visitor sticker. Apparently children aren't allowed to enter-this was not a concern for me because I don't have kids, however I found out because the rent-a-cop questioned my 30 year old daughter's age and didn't want to let her enter the building because she was "too young looking!" OMG, UNBELIEVABLE! I do NOT believe anything any doctor or medical professional says to me in this building anymore. It doesn't matter who it is - oncologist, radiology, nurse, surgeon, etc. If you ask each one of them the same question, you will get 10 different answers. If you ask a yes or no answer, you won't get an answer! The MyChart notifications cause so much chaos in my household, nobody can take it anymore! Get a notification that there is a new MyChart message and my stomach feels sick as can be - open up the MyChart message and depending on the message, the rest of my day or week will be either good or extremely bad. Just today, the doctor tells me one thing to my face and then the MyChart message in the afternoon says the complete opposite - causing me extreme emotional highs and lows as if I have bipolar disorder! This is not just impacting me, but it is also impacting my family in the same way. One hour everyone is in an okay mood and the next everyone is crying and upset all because of whatever message was sent via MyChart! I'd hate to know if you went into this actually having a mood disorder-you'd end up in a psych facility, that's for sure. Not once has any doctor or other provider overseeing my care addressed my emotional well being. All they have done is had a nurse ask me if I was interested in any of their "support groups!" I don't have time for support groups nor do I want any part of them! Thank goodness my situation and diagnosis is curable - I just have to go through the process of treatment and surgery, but will be okay. All this place does is cause headache after headache! I'd hate to know if you were metastatic and had to deal with this place for the rest of your life. read more

I was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer in Feb 2021. I've been getting my chemotherapy treatments here and I must say..... this facility is OUTSTANDING! Sadly the ladies in the front are nice but not as friendly as the staff inside the infusion center. It's a whole different experience. Let me tell you, once you're inside the infusion center, it's a whole different story! I've had Heidi, Fran, Tony and a couple other nurses and they are all fantastic! The infusion center itself is so clean and it's so bright and open and everyone there is so welcoming. It really makes a big difference when coming for my treatments since it's not an easy thing to do because I'm there for so long. So kudos to the kind staff and kudos for the atmosphere. Dr. Vora who is my oncologist is so kind and caring and really has a wonderful staff. Thank you everyone so much for always making me feel comfortable and cared for. I truly appreciate you all making my experience a good one. June 7, I have a big surgery coming up and will be continuing my chemotherapy treatments a little bit after (once I heal) so I will be coming back and I'm looking forward to be under the care of the wonderful staff again.... The facility is very well maintained. It's a 2 Story building which you go upstairs to check in and wait to be called. The receptionist had some forms for you to complete which the areas for completion are highlighted. The wait wasn't long. The in take nurse called me to go over paper work and escort me to the locket room to unrob. As I went to little room to unrob she instructed me on what to take off and gave me a locker key to put my things in. The nurse returned with a spa rob. No, no These wasn't those paper robs that tear up, these were some soft and comfortable robs. So as I went to get the exam room to get chi chi's examined the technician was courtesy and gentle. I really appreciate the service. The only thing that they forget to tell you when you schedule an appointment is that it's $5.00 to park which you pay through a machine. No bills higher than $20.00, no debit or credit card. read more

It's like walking into a five star hotel. Todd Pavilion moved to this new location, and it is absolutely, positively, undeniably elegant from the moment you walk in to the first floor up the escalators to the second, to check-in and in the exam rooms... The staff are just as cordial and attentive as they were from the previous building. They still provide lockers and our own white plush robes before entering the exam rooms and the robes are available for purchase. All proceeds from purchase are donated. There's nothing like feeling pampered when you're placed in a vulnerable situation. read more

This facility is peaceful from the moment you enter, with colorful paper cranes hanging in the lobby. After checking in, each patient is taken to a private office to finish registration. It's so nice to answer questions in a private setting rather than a crowded waiting room. I was then taken to a spa-like waiting area with dressing rooms and lockers so I could change into a comfy robe. The technician was warm and friendly yet efficient. These may not seem like important features for a medical facility; however, the lovely staff put their patients at ease, and make an otherwise uncomfortable treatment more tolerable. read more

I went in for annual mammogram. When I entered the building I was so surprised at how beautiful it was decorated. I was made by a security guard and he was so kind and helpful. This behavior continue from the front desk to the technician that performed my mammogram. As I was waiting I felt as if I was in a spa because it was such a relaxing atmosphere. This was the best mammogram experience I've ever had maybe the best experience I have had at a medical facility. I felt highly valued as a patient. I would strongly recommend this center. read more

The actual care I received was very professional, however the billing has been a complete nightmare, I will not go back. After siting down with their fiance rep and going over my healthcare plan in great detail with her, she had me sign a document saying that my responsibility for a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound would be $669.89. The paper I signed even states, "To help, we have contacted your health plan to estimate the out-of-pocket expenses (copay, deductible, and/or co-insurance you will be responsible for". During the procedure I was asked if I wanted a 3D ultrasound at a cost of an additional $75, which I agreed to. In the end they charged my insurance $1,535.00 and I received a bill for $1,1113.87, not including an additional bill from the doctor who reviewed my ultrasound results. This facility is in-network and has negotiated pricing with my insurance, there should be no discrepancy between price and bill. I have literally spent months trying to get a real explanation of this billing discrepancy. The only solution they offered was a payment plan. I would like them to honor the pricing I signed for with the addition of the 3D charge. If anyone from the Todd Cancer Pavilion monitors this, please respond to this review. read more

Review for Dr Jill Tseng In Gynecology. She's great! She looks young but don't let that fool you. Shake her hand and let her speak. She knows her stuff and makes you feel reassured. She answers your questions and is straight with you. I was so nervous but when she shook my hand I knew I'd be ok. The operation went smooth and my follow ups with her have been on point. I've been having nothing but issues with this place since I returned. The receptionists are very rude and not very empathetic. Resident or intern doctors read charts incorrectly and then bring up traumatizing situations to patients. Newest issue is they make televisit\follow up appointments without informing the patients. The only thing I was told was that I would be "contacted" in 2 weeks with my test results. I was never told that it would be a televisit. The communication is very poor at TCP which is how they'll identify themselves in a voicemail even though you may have no idea who/what they're referring to. read more

I recently completed chemotherapy at the Infusion Center. I had a very positive experience. It was my place to go for comfort, for humor and for caring. The nurses at the Center always knew the right thing to say. If I was sad or worried they could defuse the worry and sadness with sound information, listening, and even humor. They administered the chemotherapy drugs, but also wanted me to be comfortable and even brought me coffee. Each session they would ask me, "what can I get for you?" Even though the nurses help very ill and intense people every day, they did not hesitate to share my life's experiences and their life's experience with me. I so admired their professionalism. The Center is also very efficient. I was not left waiting long for the lab results and for the administration of the various drugs. I will always be grateful to the nurses. They helped me so much. read more

"Great" doesn't begin to be enough to say about the doctors at the Todd Cancer Center. In 2019, my husband was diagnosed with cancer. We immediately had a team in place with Dr. Wolf, Dr. Vora, Dr. Saliminejad and others who moved quickly to save his life. During numerous hospitalizations (eleven that year, I believe) we were made to feel like we were the only patients these men had. I honestly do not know where we would be at this point without them and the others at the Todd Cancer Center being there for us. We have never not been able to reach someone when needed. BEWARE of unexpected high facility charges! All we needed was a specific ultrasound. They stated that we also needed a mammogram done in order for insurance to cover. Well we got our MD to order the mammogram as well and then we are sent a bill for over $1300 facility charge for the mammogram & ultrasound that we have to pay out of pocket. But the mammogram was much more expensive than ultrasound. So if you are looking for a money greedy establishment, then this would be it. I would shop around for a more affordable place that is honest rather than telling you they will bill insurance to cover and instead sending you a rather steep facility bill on top of the radiology diagnostic that is a separate bill. read more

She kept apologizing for putting pressure on my breast, kept asking if I was comfortable, and asked me questions about my life. I am so very grateful that my 94 year old mother had Dr. Usama Mahmood, a Radiologist Oncologist from the Todd Cancer Institute at Long Beach Memorial Hospital, treat her during her 71/2 week, five days a week radiation treatments. I live five hundred miles away and have been managing my mother's medical care since she was first diagnosed with breast cancer in December, 2016. I found Dr. Mahmood to be wonderful! He was thorough, excellent, warm, down-to-earth and always made himself available to my many phone calls and questions. When I asked that my mother be seen by him numerous extra times throughout her radiation treatments, Dr. Mahmood always was accommodating and saw my mom. Today was her final appointment and we are very pleased that she has completed all of her treatments on time, and Dr. Mahmood is a big part of why this happened. I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer and I shopped around for Dr's and facilities. I am so glad I made the decision of going to the Todd Cancer Center. Dr. Sanati is the best, he's kind, attentive and most of all he knows and understands what you're going through. The staff the nurses make you feel comfortable and are very professional. The facility is beautiful, clean and comfortable. You get your own private room with a nice warm recliner that makes you fall asleep and forget about your problems. The Todd Cancer Pavilion is GREAT!!! It's a beautiful, clean, modern, recently remodeled facility with a terrific staff. From the time I walked through the door for my primary diagnosis, all through the process to my ongoing chemo treatments, I was (still am) treated like a king. The administration staff, technicians, doctors, everyone involved was super nice and went overboard to insure I was well treated and taken care of. Now the third floor infusion facility.... I love it! My chemo is actually pretty mild so I can sit in a very comfortable chair for my infusion and read or watch TV, and still able to get up and walk around. I no sooner get settled in my chair until I'm offered refreshments and/or a warm blanket. Pillows are always on hand and warmed blankets are also available if you want to nap through your treatment. The infusion bays are walled on three sides for privacy (most have large windows) but the area behind is wide open and the nurses stations are immediately behind the bays so the nurses are able to keep a constant eye on how everyone's doing. Still another plus, is it's quiet! No Wal-Mart music to bother you. One thing, though.... their parking lot is fee based. I think validations may be available so check with the receptionist when you enter but bring a few bucks with you just to be safe. If you're a "senior", you might consider purchasing a senior parking pass from the senior center in the main hospital. I don't remember how much they cost (not much) and they're good for unlimited parking throughout the hospital parking lot system. Mine's worth it's weight in gold. read more
