It truly has an amazing community feel, with only one class per year all the staff know each child individually. There is an huge amount of outdoor space and a wonderful forest area which amounts to lots of outside learning. The experience children get at ACE is far superior to most larger schools in the area, just this last year they have taken part in big sporting events, sang at the o2 arena and had a visit from NASA, I don't know any other school where children get so many amazing experiences that extend beyond the classroom!

Each building is a recreation of a real, excavated building, from around the U.K. Authentic materials and techniques are used. The buildings include a Mesolithic hut; two Neolithic round houses; a Neolithic long house; half a dozen Iron Age huts in a recreated village, complete with exterior ditch and stockade; a Roman Villa; and a Saxon long house. The site also has breeds of goats and sheep which are as close as possible to those which would have been found in these periods; and grows old forms of cereal such as emmer, spelt and barley. Each building has very good interpretation and on site staff give informative and enthusiastic explanations, and demonstrations of crafts. There's a strong emphasis on providing for children of all ages (though it's not really suitable for toddlers.) There's a small shop which also sells beverages and there are picnic tables for those who have brought their own picnics. There are toilets on site. It's a great place for families wanting an interesting and educational day out. As it's on a grassy site, although it is level, pushchairs and wheelchairs may have a hard time. Wear appropriate footwear in wet weather as it gets muddy underfoot!
