This is the worst doctor I've ever been too. I went to him years ago and forgot why I stopped going. When I arrived for my appointment, I was asked for my insurance card which I gave them. The lady then tells me they don't take my insurance and asked if I had another. When I said no she asked if I wanted to pay out of pocket. In a global pandemic with insurance that I've never had a problem with why would I pay out of pocket?? This front office is filled with inept children. They're extremely out of touch and no amount of training will make them qualified to babysit a rock. Your main job at a doctors office is to inform patients about insurance restrictions at the time the appointment is made. I wasted time and money to get to this place. This place is HORRIBLE. I repeat HORRIBLE!!! I went to this place for about 3 years and my acne and scars have never gotten better, every 2 weeks all my pimples would come back and I never saw a difference, if anything my acne got worse since I came here. When you go in for an appointment they pop all your pimples and inject it and they do it so you come back in 2 weeks with the same pimples. They just want money, they don't care about your face!! I first came to Dr. Nelson to be treated for a condition called Hydradentis Supurativa. I had suffered with it for years and had gone threw 2 surgeries. A nurse, who suffered from the same condition recommended him and I cannot be more thankful!! He is one of the only doctors that I came across that has actually bothered to learn about this condition and has mastered how to treat it. He has also taken about 15 blemishes and skin tags off of my face with ease and precision (a few were very close to my eyes). He's gentle and makes sure you're not in pain. Ladies, he is also very handsome! Who doesn't want a little eye candy while at the doctors office! He's also a super nice guy!! He took my insurance and HSA. One thing I always found odd was the ATM he has in the waiting room. It put me off at first, but I guess he does a lot of cash business and this helps his patients that don't have cash on them. Like I said, I have an HSA, so I've never had to pay cash for anything. I can say that the removal of all those ugly blemished cost me $400, but he did a lot of work. It's been a month now seeing Dr. Nelson. I have some acne but mostly hyperpigmentation. I'm using Aczone, 4% hydroquinone and I'm doing salicylic acid peel every 2 weeks. I am definitely seeing results already. My darks spots are lightening, slowly but surely. I've battled with acne for more than one 15 years to no real avail so imv happy to see some sign. Was going to a popular doctor at St Luke Roosevelt dermatology clinic for 2 years and my face didn't see the improvement I see now. I'm happy with Dr Nelson and he seems quite genuinely concerned with his patient's needs. On myv way to beautiful skin. I recommend him and his team. read more

I went to see Dr. Nelson over the summer for a rash that not one of the previous 7 Doctors I've seen over the previous 12 years have been able to disgnose properly. On my initial visit the first person I saw was the Physician Assistant. Then Dr. Nelson came in and with me in only underwear started pointing a laser at the rash and asked the PA what she thought it was. She didn't know, so he informed her on what he thought. It was as if he was training her with me barely dressed in a chair. He had her do a skin graph and prescribed a cream (just like the previous Doctors) I had a follow up appointment where Dr. Nelson spent maybe 45 seconds with me. We continued the cream. I then had a follow up appointment with Dr. Nelson. Instead the PA was the one that I saw. She said to stay on the cream and she called in more cream. Then a few weeks later the issue with the rash got bad and I made an appointment with Dr. Nelson. As soon as I arrived the lady behind the counter informed me that I had a $25 co-pay. I took out my debit card and she said we don't accept debit/credit card, only cash or check. Hmm!! I informed her that I don't carry my check book with me and don't carry much cash. They said they would take a card this time, like they were doing me a favor. Again, the PA was the one to see me. As soon as she saw the rash, she said I needed to make an appointment with Dr. Nelson. (basically she didn't know what to say or do) I informed her that my appointment was with Dr. Nelson, not her, just as my other appointments were. Also that I just blocked out meetings to come to the Doctor's office, took time out of my day and paid a co-pay. She didn't know what to say. Needless to say I was fed up. I don't think it was the PA fault, but someone royally screwed up. I just decided that I would no longer go to this Dermetologist, because they obviously don't care about me. Last week, I got a letter that I owed a $25 co-pay, and it wasn't the nicest letter in the world. Now I was furious. I called up the Billing Manager. Was very professional with her, but explained my frustration. I thought the person who took my card didn't enter it in. As it turns out there was a co-pay from the previous visit. In the real world, the Doctor's Office would have to pay me for all the needless stress, the wasted time, and not helping my issue. The Billing Manager told me the reason why I was seeing the PA was bc my account wasn't notated to see only Dr. Nelson. I asked who notates my account. She said either the Doctor, PA or desk. Is it me or when someone makes an appointment to see their Doctor, should they not be seeing their doctor, unless previously discussed that they would see someone else? The PA was nice and tried, but if I need Heart Surgery, I'm not going to have a Podiatrist perform the surgery, so why would I want a PA to take over for my Doctor, when 1. This was never discussed with me, the patient (customer) 2. The PA can't handle the issue I'm coming in for. I would advise that if you use this office that you make 100% sure that the Doctor that you are paying and expecting is the Doctor that you are seeing!! read more

Dr. Jonathan Nelson is literally the worst doctor I have ever met. He has 4 good reviews probably from his staff and relatives. I don't understand how this person is still in business. See below for why... 1- he would tell you that he is fully booked but when you say you have an emergency and you go there you'll find absolutely no one waiting except you. 2- he takes no initiative in explaining your symptoms in simple words that the general public understands. He uses medical terms and speaks very fast. When you ask him to clarify, he says "Are we still talking about what I just discussed" 3- he has 2 smoking hot physician assistants who work under him which is why I believe he still has customers. 4- his relationship with patients is so bad. He comes at you as a snobby, stuck up doctor. And you literally feel like he is giving you a favor by diagnosing you...the wrong diagnosis 5- you tell him you believe you have an infection and he tells you to wash it with soap and water as a treatment! Free parking and never a long wait. Staff is okay with some new girl not so friendly and a tad bitchy. I have been coming here for years and Dr Nelson is professional and thorough. I have definitely been rushed though..watch that doc..it's a major turn off and cause for lost stars. read more

The worst ever! I didn't even get a chance to be seen by him because he only accepts cash if you don't have insurance. I went there with every intent to pay the $150 with the Flex Spending Card for medical expenses through my job and they would not accept it. Dr Nelson said they would have to charge me the same rate that they charge the insurance companies. I guess it was a blessing that it didn't work out because he sounds greedy and inconsiderate of his patients. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Nelson for the last few years and I have to say he is really good! I have been fighting acne for many years and he was the only Dr. that was able to get my skin to look good again. He also has great PA's that work with him who are very good as well. They are attentive, informative and really address all your concerns thoroughly. I've referred him to many of my friends and family and they have all loved him. I 100% recommend Dr. Nelson to anyone that is looking for a good dermatologist. The office is managed well, easy to get appointments and not a long wait time either. read more

Skip the visit. Rushes to give his opinion, and in my case he thought I had bed bugs, gave me the wrong medication, and then overcharged me. I had my house inspected for bed bugs, cost me $ 375, they did not find one. He simply did not listen to what I had told him, and got the prognosis wrong. The staff at the front desk are incompetent. As I keep getting bills and when I called them to tell them about my two insurances, they keep refusing to take the information. I used him before and he was better, he is rushing to much. read more

Dr. Nelson did a body scan for me after treating a family member for skin cancer. He carefully biopsied a growth, so that if the results came back, indicating cancer, he would be able to visualize the position of the biopsy, which came back positive. I trust him with my life and would not go to another doctor. He is very thorough and an expert in dermatology and cancer. He is efficient and extremely effective. His office is always busy but staff are friendly and helpful. read more

Horrible practice- first, you are rarely seen by the Dr, and any treatment you receive is prolonged for months to milk it. Will take advantage even of a 2 year old child using ineffective treatment for months to collect $$$$$. Took him to a different dr in greenwich, and after three treatments, watts are gone forever. read more
