The problem was that it was a filling on a baby tooth with no adult tooth to replace it (surely a byproduct of inbreeding). Since this once-invincible baby tooth no longer had a filling holding it together, it started falling apart in little chunks...not the most pleasant experience. It was awkward eating, things were constantly getting stuck in there and I realized that my dream of looking like a pirate could come to fruition at the tender age of 32. Gah. So not ready for this destiny. My friend James suggested that I see his dentist and I jumped to contact him. I gave the office a call, they worked around my schedule, staying late at work so that they could see me that very day. Ah-may-zing. Within 30 mins --if that-- my snaggly-crumbly tooth was transformed into a brand spanking new, full tooth. Insane. So smooth, so perfect. Chewing was/is basically euphoric. I don't know how they did that so quickly and perfectly but basically I'm happily indebted to them for saving me from needing to poke out my eye and purchase a parrot. I can continue being compared to plus-sized redheaded celebrities instead of Captain Jack Sparrow. Things could be worse. Kensington Dental Clinic for the win!

Dr Chung remedied the badly moved upper front teeth to their former positions. He also corrected my overcrowded lower teeth without the need to pull out any tooth as several others had suggested. So when I developed an abscess today the pain out weighed my fear and I called Dr Wong's clinic. I explained my phobia and current dental issue and they assured me that they would take good care of me. At first I thought they were just luring me in to inflict pain upon me equal to listening to a person with tourettes read "40 Shades of Grey". I was wrong, the whole staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and not be ashamed of fear and state of dental care. They got me in on a busy day within 20 minutes of my mumbling phone call as well. While Dentists still freak me the hell out, Dr Wong is an exception, kind, laid back and not one to attempt to pad a bill. He made me feel like I did not have a phobia at all. My only issue was with him showing Mr. Bean on the TV.

Dentist said it was likely just a gum infection and said there was no need for xrays, since they got mine transferred from my old dentist (taken 2 years earlier). I trusted him. So next year I go to my original dentist and they do new xrays (puzzled why the last dentist didn't do any given the pain in my molar and the 2 year period) and turns out I had a really bad cavity, NOT A GUM INFECTION. I almost had to get a root canal and lost half my tooth because it was in a strange place in between the molars and progressively got worse in a year, even with all the flossing that I was recommend by this dentist. My original dentist said this dentist did not do their due diligence and that they should have done an updated xray to double-check instead of just guessing it was gum infection, especially due to the pain I described and that the xrays were old. In the end this dentist cost me more money and more pain from not doing his job properly. Don't go here, they are unorganized, receptionists rude, and Dr. obviously incompetent in thoroughly checking into problems.

It is designed for use of about 2 weeks. And that is exactly how long it did last. I ordered a retainer that should last years. Dr. Berant made a mistake with the order. However, Dr. Berant is taking no responsibility for her mistake.

Let's face it, going to the dentist is never a fun experience nor a cheap one. If you invest in good treatment and maintain good health of your teeth and gums any treatments you make early on with the right dentists will pay off in the years to come. Drs Berant will also refer you to specialists when your situation falls outside their area of expertise and they work with the best. I've recommended them to friends and family. Even brought one of my parents who was visiting from overseas for an emergency procedure during a weekend once.

And the detail care/instruction and attention from the dental staff are superb. I am also happy with Caroline's professionalism. The dentist had a mishap and how he and Caroline dealt with that subsequently - were professional and wonderful. Dentist Sasan assured me that great care would be given. And on my last appointment (implant surgery), as before, I was provided information about the implant procedure and the post actions after the surgery. In addition, Dentist Sasan provided me three prescriptions just in case if any discomforts are experienced. I am so glad of this, as pain came much later. Thank god I got the prescriptions filled immediately after the surgery. At my previous dental place, no prescriptions were given and I had to wait till the next day to get anything. I even had to make an appointment to get some relief. :-/ I especially like the implant pre-estimate and its steps (and its costs) to put an implant in place.. Getting the pre-estimate that includes the insurance coverage from my previous dentist was like pulling one's teeth without anesthesia. They had to wait for few weeks before insurance coverage could be given. At Arta Dental, I get the estimate right away. I definitely don't like surprises. Also, I am not at the dentist to be entertained. Vancouver Cosmetics seems to think telling jokes every forty seconds is a normal thing. It's one thing to have a normal friendly conversation, but to do it during the procedure? After having few appointments with Dentist Sasan indicate to me - that great care and attention are provided (except for the mishap). The doing, the checking, and the verifying are so important and that is what Dentist Sasan had done. Thank goodness for his checking; otherwise, the mishap would have gone wrongly. In addition, at first, I thought I was being avoided, because no cleaning appointments were scheduled for me, so I assumed the worst. Caroline assured me that wasn't the case. Some just came for one thing and nothing else. I FEEL the dental service I ahd received was upgraded to several levels. I do feel like I had gone into a country club where the dental staff considers that the utmost importance is to give great dental care. The place is well ventilated and carefully decorated - seemingly - and I appreciate that quite a bit. The environment definitely helps to relax me as a patient and relieves any anxiety. Prior to coming in, I have ask if they provide seniors discount (most dentist have 10% seniors discount) but we never got an answer + never communicated if fee was after discount or not We were given a referral note to denturist, we went to unit 240 instead of denturist unit 270.

Dr. Patek is an absolutey talented, proffesional and HONEST! I used to go down Commercial Drive to Another office that exploits people that do not know better. I was told I had several cavities and guess what? The HONEST Dr. Patek took xrays and i have NONE! Going to the dentist i put my trust in people because i know no better. Its the same reason i dont like mechanics. I have never been so impressed with the skill and talent that Patek has. I wish every dentist was as cool as him. I also have to mention Sheila the assistant. She is so proffesional and talented that i thought she was thw dentist.
