After a 18 hour travel from California via Zurich arrived to find the Alamo car rental closed at the stipulated time of pick up, which left our family stranded at the airport on Xmas!!!
Not only that, when we came the next morning to pick up our car, we were told they had given our rental away and were out of cars for the next five days!! We were even blamed for this mess by Alamo, in the finest tradition of German customer support.
The other car rentals at the airport were also out of cars for five days.
We had specifically confirmed with Expedia that Alamo was open on December 24th at 7 pm, which was a tricky date of course, but then this Alamo is part of an international airport with flights leaving and arriving on holidays, including Xmas.
Extremely unprofessional. What's the point of making a reservation if the car rental company doesn't honor your reservation?!
Alamo had pulled something similarly unprofessional a few years prior. I had made another reservation, and when I came to pick up the car, staff told me they had mistakenly advertised a "too low" price and then refused to honor the booked price.
Alamo subsequently jacked up the previously agreed upon price by the equivalent of $150 despite my protestations.
Made agreements don't seem to count for much at this Alamo location. Shame on you!
In hindsight, I should have stopped doing business with Alamo once and for all at that point, but they are one of only three car rental companies at Bremen airport and tend to have competitive rates.
