My husband I were actually staying at the new Scandic Lillestrom while visiting Norway on our honeymoon. We limited ourselves to only a few dinners out in Norway just because eating out can be so expensive. I will say this place is totally worth the price. The vibe is so cool inside with lab equipment in glass cases, books on curved shelves and beautiful stained glass behind the bar. The outside patio is also very large and they have blankets on the backs of all the chairs incase the Norway night are a tad chilly for you. The bartender was very nice and polite despite our lack of Norwegian and luckily his English was very good. We both ordered burgers, I got the Lamb burger and my husband the Juicy Lucy. They were absolutely delicious! As we were settling up the bartender even gave us a sample of another local beer that they had just out on tap. Overall I was so glad we checked this place out and it was the perfect place and just our style to treat ourselves to a dinner out in Norway.

The flavor was sour, savory and a hint of sweetness. The best part was when I ordered Thai spicy, it was Thai spicy! I enjoyed this dishe very much! My wife and son shared the fried rice. Although the serving was quite good, the flavors were not quite there. I just have issues when Amerikansk blanding is used. The flavor was a bit bland and was lacking in the essential flavor or breath of the wok. The major mistake they made on the fried rice was they used newly cooked rice rather than 1day old rice. The fact that the rice was not loose was a clear indicator. I did see that they do not use a gas stove or traditional wok. It seems to be some sort of induction stove top and a wok made for it. I see so many Asian restaurants using this, which really is a big let down. The other wok dishes are decent and despite not having the breath of the wok, I would return to eat their lovely glass noodle salad!

Adriatic Cafe+ is unique, independent and outstanding value. Just the way I like it :) Adriatic make fantastic Balkan food, that alone should hopefully get your attention as I cannot think of many cities in Europe where you can experience this amazing type of food. Its kind of a cross between Turkish / Greek and everything good in between. We stopped by for lunch having visited Oslo over a long weekend and I wish we had discovered this place sooner. They didn't have an English menu and not being familiar with Balkan food we struggled to pick out many dishes. Fortunately, the staff were really helpful and translated a number of things for us. We order the delightful feta burek, which is almost like a British style flaky pastry pie, the Cevapi, which are like mini beef sausage kebabs inside a fresh, hot pide style flat bread, chicken kebab and a shopska salad. When the food arrived we were instantly taken aback by the size of the portions and the quality of the food. Everything was so delicious and fresh and to make matters even better, it was the cheapest place by far that we had found in Oslo. I also discovered a new food in the form of Kajmak which was an accompaniment to the Cevapi. Its kind of like a soft, Philadelphia type cheese, but lighter and much more flavoursome. Anyway, it complemented the meat wonderfully and I just couldn't get enough of it. This restaurant is a perfect spot for a nice lunch or cheap dinner. Where to start!?! The friendliest waitress that we were served by across our whole trip. Keen to help, chatty, efficient and explained the menu to us. Decor of the place was nice, open and bright. It is selling Balkan dishes and goes for a costal type feel with wooden ornaments dotted about the place. Now the two most important bits. The food is really really cheap for Norway and would even be considered good value on the UK. If your in Oslo and your sick of the high prices, get yourself along here and treat yourself at bargain pricing. The food itself was really really tasty. Great kebabs in lovely flat bread, amazing cheese & tomato salad and beautiful local pie style dishes. If your a Oslo local you need to start giving it some love. If your a tourist you should check it out for lunch or dinner. You will not be disappointed.
