Had a terrible experience. Father of the groom comes in to get fitted for a suite that he is purchasing from the store for the wedding. The employee spent 15 minutes making fun of his weight and telling him he needs to lose a few pounds because the suit makes him "look like a fat penguin". As we plan our wedding, it came time for my fiance and I to figure out what me and my groomsmen will be wearing. But lets be honest...it was mostly her ;) So let me say from the start - this is a review of service related to tuxedo rental, rather than purchasing of actual clothing. But I do have some thoughts on that which I will share. We first went to the token Mens Wearhouse and got about what we expected - friendly enough service, basic choices, and staff that just didn't know quite as much as they should. A friend then turned me on to Jos A Bank, which he used for his wedding in California this past summer. "Better service" he promised. Chase, our associate, sat us down and went through the whole process regarding what we can get, how we order it, when it gets delivered, etc. They were really cool about my wearing one color of vest/tie, and my groomsmen all wearing a different color. The fact that they have locations all around the country means that my guys can go to a Jos A Bank near their various locations and it can all get delivered to the Overland Park location just before the wedding. So hopefully everything will come in right, or else I'll have to update my review. But so far, so good. In regards to the clothing one can buy - it's your standard men's store. Selection is pretty good, and quality seems good. Prices do seem slightly higher than I expected. You always see those commercials of Buy 1 Get 2 suits and it makes you think this store is on the cheaper side, but it really isn't from what I saw. It certainly seems to be a bit more expensive than Men's Wearhouse, but cheaper than Nordstrom. read more

I've purchased a suit, tie and three dress shirts here. The shopping experience was great. I found the sales staff knowledgeable and willing to look up previous purchases to make sure I was picking up the correct size of shirt. They have some really good sales and seem to move merchandise fairly fast so there is always something new to look at. I did have a small issue when I went to pick up my suit from being altered but they offered to make things right. I'll continue to shop here for dress clothes. read more

I am not the one to write a bad review unless it is truly terrible and I'm doing the public a service by warning them. I came in to get a suit for a wedding party and I was told they didn't have my size so they had to order it. I was told it would be in my next Tuesday. On Tuesday, I'm wondering why they haven't called me to update me on the order status so I decide to call them. The person on the phone says my suit is not in and maybe it'll be in by the next day. He told me to call back tomorrow to see if it's in.. I call back Wednesday and they said it's in, so I come in to try it on. Something doesn't feel right about the size and I tell the person helping me what he thinks... He just gives me an indifferent look and does not say a word!! Then, I say that it kind of looks big and he just stares at me like I'm stupid and asks what I mean! Honestly, I'm not a professional, but I know when size looks completely off, but I had to keep asking for him to help me find a better size but he's so dang unwilling! It's like I'm asking him for a favor! Then he proceeds to give me attitude to entire fitting process and I'm just happy to be out of there!! Then it comes the time to pick up the suit... I call again because they didn't call me and I just simply ask, "Hi, could I check if my suit is ready for pick up?" And AGAIN I'm greeted with hostility! It was a simple question! He asks me what was the promised date and when I told him it passed, he comments that "what? Then it's ready"... Why can't you just check for me if it's ready? I wouldn't question unless you guys were late in my past experience... Anyways... Highly recommend to STAY AWAY from this place! I don't know with all the other stores in their chain are like this, but it has been one of the worst experiences I have ever had! read more

Person fitting me said it would be available the Monday before and to have it shipped to the Kansas City store that way I could try it on and have replacement parts if needed. They knew the wedding was in another state and we were leaving in advance because I was originally picking it up at the other store. They convinced me to get it here. Went in to pick up a tux rental. It won't be available until tomorrow. After I'm going to leaving. Ohh well who told you that? I don't remember it was 6 months ago and you pulled the reservation so it should be on there. Nothing but problems form the whole chain. Run away and don't look back. When I walked in the only sales person I saw was helping another group so I waited in the middle of the sales floor until finished. I went in there to get a few items and none of the sales staff acknowledged me. In fact one salesman looked right at me and didn't even greet me. I don't have an alarming appearance! I am a 50ish year old clean cut white male. I was dressed in casual business attire when I walked in. I look like I have money to spend. When I asked the salesman (who didn't greet me when I came in) a question, he acted like I was irritating him. He just seemed like a real snob! The store was not busy so I don't know why he was avoiding talking to customers( There was two of us in his area of sight). After looking around a little longer I decided to leave. They lost my business. I have probably spent over $4,000 in clothing there over the last 2 years. After leaving the store I drove to Macy's in the Oak Park Mall and bought 3 clothing items. Macy's staff were polite and seemed authentically interested in meeting the customer's needs. I did not get the name of the rude salesman at Joseph A. Bank. but he was tall, about 6' 4" had dark wavy hair (gray on the sides) and looked between the ages of 45-50! I actually wanted to look at the guy and say, "You think you are better than me? You sell mens clothing for a living and I probably make your yearly salary in two months! read more

Everyone at this location is exceptionally helpful! Kudos to the entire team. Michael and David are extremely organized and always greet me by my first name when I come I into the store. The team helped me and my entire wedding party get completely outfitted for my upcoming wedding - they even made a few special orders just to fulfill my wishes! My son paid $20 rush fee for Prom. When he picked the tux up, it was NOT what he ordered for the tie and vest. All the guy said was it was too late to reorder and nothing could be done. I called the store and there was no apology, no admission or error, poor customer service and attitude. I don't recommend renting a tux from this place! read more

Our wedding party utilized this store. Originally, J.C. helped size my son for a suit as he is not a standard size. She worked very hard getting the right size pants and jacket, wrote it all down, and told us to come back in 2 weeks to pick it up. She was great to work with. Returning 2 weeks later, J.C. had been moved to a different store. The salesmen working there found the pants, right away. The suit and white shirt we had paid for were no where in sight, they had no record of it, couldnt find it. No record of them in the computer system. I went home and got receipts and returned. T Eventually located white shirt in the back in a bag with our name. Searched for jacket, couldnt locate. I finally left. Got a phone call, had found jacket---not sure where. A 2 hour ordeal. My husband picked up after work, older salesman not in the least apologetic, bordering on rude, and he did not even put the jacket in a plastic bag. Just handed to my husband, totally indifferent to the stress and hassle involved. NOT IMPRESSED. WILL NEVER RETURN. read more
