He never tested the system. After a couple weeks, I noticed that my plants were all drooping. I discovered that he had never turned the water back on or tested his work. When I did, it leaked just as much as it had before he did hundreds of dollars worth of work. We initially found him on Yelp in January 2020 and contacted him because he was a "one stop shop" for what we needed, as well as his excellent reviews. We had him extend and widen an existing concrete patio slab and continue the slab along our side walkway. The job required removing the stump of a huge eucalyptus tree, digging up a mature plum tree, a lot of hedges and a lot of wired netting laid by the previous owner. He also relocated our back sprinklers and installed a timer. He and his crew were quick and did a great job. We now enjoy spending time outside on our extended patio. Because Isai also does irrigation work and we were very happy with what he did for us previously, Isai was our first call when we needed work to fix a flooding problem in our front side yard caused by rainwater overflow from a neighbor's roof gutter. Like last time, he responded right away. His assessment of the issue confirmed what we thought needed to be done. He and his crew started the work on a Monday and they finished Tuesday afternoon! The work involved unclogging an existing underground drain to the street and installing a new one connecting the gutter to the street drain. It required removing/replacing a portion of concrete, removal of mature hedges and a mature Pygmy palm. At our request, Isai saved the tree and replanted it in another location of our front yard. It's Wednesday and so far shows no sign of shock. Isai and his crew also connected our own roof gutters to the underground drain to the street. Our front yard was a strange raised bed with a lawn we could never get to look right: half the year it was dead, the other half it was weeds. The backyard was a concrete slab attached to an easement that had disappeared under ivy. Jose cleared the easement completely, and in the process discovered our foundation was leaking. He fixed it before it became the kind of problem you pay for twice. He recommended eugenia for the easement, and it was exactly right: a solid green wall between us and the neighbors below, with the ocean sitting clean above the hedge line. Then my husband mentioned, in passing, that we had always wanted an outdoor BBQ. It was Jose who suggested orienting it so the person cooking can actually talk to the guests instead of facing a wall. He custom built the entire outdoor kitchen, and he worked leftover tile we already had into it so the whole yard reads as one design. It meant cutting into existing concrete and wood decking, and you genuinely would never know. Seamless. He also planted a lemon and a lime along the side of the house and two fruitless olive trees in front, along with a gorgeous manicured lawn and new retaining wall.
