I moved from out of state and stated that I was sure I needed to have the insurance changed to VA before I registered my car. After 2 weeks of back-and-forth with the agent (who wanted to hold off on changing it over), I called the DMV myself and learned that if the insurance is not current in VA there is a $500 fee! While the information I received from the agent I worked with was (technically) correct, it was definitely not helpful or valuable from my perspective! Additionally, I had asked for quotes with and without renter's insurance (on the phone and via email) and only received with the renter's insurance, which I later took off. When I asked about billing and how the credit from my NY insurance would get transferred over, I never got a straight answer. If you work with this office, I would be sure to document communications, request via email, and check in to verify that what you have requested gets done. Though I will keep my business with this office (for now), setting things up was highly frustrating and annoying--had I known this on the front end I would have worked with another agent or office in the area.

    I know that there's always a stigma against insurance companies, but I honestly feel like I've hit…read morethe jackpot with State Farm. When first moving to the area and comparing rates, State Farm offered one of the lowest rates out there (if not the best). I signed up over the phone, and honestly was not impressed. The person I signed up with did not speak English well and had a terrible attitude. I'm a little bit hazy on the details, but somehow the head of the office - Ginger Gray - and her associate Amy found out about it, and Ginger came to my house after hours to go over the final paperwork and to apologize for the service. I've honestly never had that level of service before and was not expecting it whatsoever. Additionally, when my car did need to be repaired, it was extremely easy and a painless process on the insurance end so I'm grateful for that - I've heard horror stories about insurance gone wrong. I've had State Farm call me several times to offer me additional discounts that I newly qualified for when could have just kept me at a higher rate and I would have been none the wiser. Also, the holiday cards are always a nice touch and very appreciated. I'm definitely a fan and they've earned themselves a loyal customer.
