I'm usually not the type to leave reviews but I feel like my stylist needs acknowledgement. I was in the neighborhood and was looking for a last minute appointment. Called a bunch of places that wouldn't pick up or didn't want to take me in until I came across Josh's studio . Spoke with Jessica over the phone and was able to accommodate me right away . The neighbor was nice was super easy to find parking . The studio is super cute , love the aesthetic. Clean and quiet . I never had A stylist that I personally went to but I knew it was time for a cut . Jessica was so attentive and sweet and listened to what I had to say and recommended what was best for my hair .my hair was so dull and dry and so lifeless from all bleach and heat damage I did on myself . Jessica did a CBD hair treatment and before my haircut and WOW . I couldn't be more happier with the outcome . I'm originally from la but come visit in Escondido to visit, needless to Say I found my stylist and will forsure be coming back! I'll be outlining this with a negative and positive section, beginning with the latter. Positive: The barber was kind, provided hair-care tips, offered drinks upon arrival, and aside from the hefty price gave a clean haircut (yet the lack of action taken by her and her colleagues was appalling... let me explain) Negative: There's not enough words to express how inappropriate and disturbing the film was that was being played. We (being CLEARLY Native American/Indigenous) had to sit through depictions of bleeding and crying men, women, children, and babies being brutally tortured, sexualized, cut open, beaten, raped, and/or sold off as slaves (all on screen and not blurred aside from rape) during non-stop Indigenous on Indigenous violence whilst Fergie and Rihanna played in the background as the TV playing music videos was the only large TV of the 2 playing sound, the barbarity of the other was muted with subtitles. For a common area, none of this should have been playing in the first place and I can't image how traumatizing and triggering this could have been for any other customer of any age to witness. The weird interest yet apathetic nature of the 3 employees and other customer present was sickening. After watching a man get sacrificially cut open alive, I decided to do some research on the movie as I felt something was obviously off. Creditable internet sources confirmed my suspicions, the movie was historically inaccurate and was hatefully created with racism and prejudice at the forefront. Seeing our people presented in this way nearly brought me to tears, I'm absolutely speechless that this atrocious and discriminatory film was displayed without a second thought and happily consumed... Josh is simply put... the Picasso of sheers, clippers, razor, etc. I've always said, there are those that have a license to cut hair and then there are stylists. I wear my hair very short and edgy and I've only had 2 truly talented stylists that have been successful in cutting, coloring, and highlighting my hair correctly... until Josh!
