Today was my first time coming in. I scheduled an appointment a few weeks ago and was looking forward to it after seeing all the great reviews. I did expect to have such an amazing experience! I had an appointment with Josh and I can honestly tell you I had the best salon experience ever! He texted me the day before to ask me if I had an idea of what I wanted. I gave Jim some details of what I was looking for and some photo references. Today when I went in we talked in more detail, made some tweaks. He listened to all my requests and made some great recommendations and then went to work. 3.5 hours, I can honestly tell you this is the best cut and color I have ever had. It's was worth every penny I spent. My hair looks so heathy, shiny and suits my style and face. I'm honestly blown away. I HIGHLY recommended Josh to any and everyone. Appointments via text? Yes please! I hadn't been to the salon before, and I was given an appointment with Joshua, and am SO pumped on my hair, and Josh(ua)! I requested to go platinum blond, but I know that can be a process when there is already some color in your hair, so I didn't expect too much from my first round. I was blown away by how light and even he got me considering the various layers of color living in my hair. Or not even considering that, just in general it's amazing. He was very careful to consider each section of hair and prior processes to ensure my blonde came out even from top to bottom. He spent SEVEN hours on me, till midnight, and it was like hanging out with a friend I've known for years. Even tho he was willing to go longer, I rescheduled for my cut, which I just got and it's amazing. I took a chance coming to a new salon after my regular girl moved, and got so lucky that this first time was so perfect. Second time I've been back to Industry DTLA to get my hair done. The space is really cool,trendy and inviting but that's not the only reason you should be getting your hair done here. I trust Josh with my blonde locks, and honestly my hair has never looked better. I call Josh magic hands because of what he does with my hair. I started going to him in Brooklyn, NY about 8 years ago. I'm one of those incredibly particular hair people who goes bananas when I receive a bad haircut. Nightmare status bananas. It's not cute. I moved to the Bay Area 4 years ago and have had a handful of pricey haircuts that have been horrible. I'm being kind using the word horrible. I'd provide photo evidence, but it's embarrassing and I don't want to hurt the readers eyes. The most frustrating thing about each of these horrible cuts, was the cost of service resulting in exactly what I asked the stylist NOT to do. That's next level disappointment. I'd send Josh pictures of the outcome...he'd ask me if I showed the stylist pictures of what I wanted and expressed my desires for my hair cut. "Of course" I'd say. Exactly how I've been telling you for years and years. It's so disappointing to receive such shi!!y results from such a descriptive idea (with photos) of what seems to be not a terribly technical or complicated hair cut. These people either don't listen or need to go back to school or both. It's a big shame that they can get away with charging $100+ simply because of their zip code while their skill level is sub par. Rant over, back to JOSH. I'm beyond happy that we are both on the west coast now so I can see him for an occasional cut and color. He recently fixed my most recent horrible haircut and I LOVE my hair style again. I also got sombre'd per his suggestion and the color is just beautiful. I'm most likely one of his more conservative clients as far as hair styles and color go but I trust him implicitly to do whatever he feels I'd like and what looks good. And it always looks BEAUTIFUL. Thank you Josh Pete for keeping my hair so fabulous! I have been coming to Josh Pete for over a year and have 0 complaints! I usually get my roots covered because I have tons of grey hairs. I came to Josh in a time where I moved and needed a new colorist. I tried a few others but many colorist/stylist are looking to make tons of money off you and have fake conversations with you! With Josh Pete you get what you pay for and he fully listens to your conversation and what you need. I explained what I needed and he knew what to do exactly. I knew I wanted a dark brown color and explain what the prior colorist would do and he matched my colors right away. What I like most of all is the deal of getting my hair and a blow dry done for a fair price in a city that is getting so expensive. He really takes care of me and definitely has great skill with hair cuts. I stopped getting my hair cut anywhere else and always ask Josh Pete to cut my hair because he never misses a piece of hair. Josh is the best. That could be the whole review. But that wouldn't be super helpful. You deserve to know the details that lead me to that conclusion, so, I'll give you my little backstory and all the details. I have long hair that used to get trimmed once every 2 or so years at any random place that seemed convenient. When you wait for 2 years, there's pretty much no option but to chop a big chunk off to make it look half way decent. Needless to say, it was time to buck up and start caring about my scraggly split-end hair. Enter Josh. Ever since I started going to Josh for trims, my hair is growing with healthier, fuller ends. No more scraggles. I get a trim once every three months, and Josh gives complimentary dusting maintenance every month! What a deal! Then, yesterday, I decided that I wanted to have a little fun with my born-again virgin hair (ok, almost born-again virgin), and Josh did not disappoint. I tried to explain what I wanted done (very poorly--it was my first time in a long time people), and when Josh revealed my hair to me, the color, cut, and style were better than I ever imagined! Subtle yet striking, and perfect for the summer. A random even gave me a compliment on my hair when I was walking down the street today, which ordinarily would have weirded me out, but, I mean, it looks great, so I get why he said it. I'm not mad.
