I was greeted by everyone in the office warmly. The office was super efficient and everyone was clearly playing on the same team to ensure great care for all patients. The nurse/medical assistant who works with Dr. Mejia was also awesome, and followed up with me at the end of the visit to make sure I had any follow-up or prescriptions the doctor had mentioned. I was behind in my annual physicals and needed it soon. She was available and I am glad found her. She is compassionate, thorough, and looks for preventative future measures to procure. After we moved, I continued driving an hour to see her. I only stopped seeing her after she moved her practice to South Orange County. That was just a little much for me to drive. My family member, who works in OC, continues to see her. I still think about going back to her new OC office.

This is for Dr. Tarpley and his entire team! Try as I might not to, I got Covid and needed additional direction and a possible RX. I really felt awful and I'm sure was cranky on top of it. Dr. Tarpley was out of the office for one much-deserved day and his staff made sure I could talk with another doctor in the office. I did, got on meds and Dr. Tarpley's office still reached out to see if I wanted to speak with him the next day. Despite staffing shortages, balancing life and in my case (what I hope is the only occassionally cranky patient not feeling good), this team still strives to deliver the best in patient care. I've been a patient with this office since I was a child. My original Doc left a few years back and decided to try out Dr. Tarpley. Honestly, the BEST decision I've made. He has by far one of the greatest bed side manners and a very calming demeanor. Going to see him has made going to the Doctors fun, which I never thought I'd say. I think what makes him such a great Doctor is that he is even a better human being. We need more of these like minded individuals in this world! ANYONE looking for a new Doctor should absolutely give him a try, I promise you won't be disappointed! So happy to have him around read more

Without question, Torrance Memorial Hospital in Manhattan Beach is by far the best practice in the area-Dr. Tarpley is a rare find in today's environment of medical care. He is extremely knowledgeable, competent, compassionate, and caring. He takes time to explain any medical question-and makes sure to follow up with any medical issues I've had in the past. At my first appointment he described himself as being a medical 'quarterback'. Not being a sports person, I'm not sure what he meant by it but I found him to be more of a middle manager. He'll take your vitals, order & review blood tests, prescribe some basic meds, but otherwise refers everything out. You don't even have to take off your clothes for any appointments - though this can be a plus if it's what you're looking for. My main issue is that he does not perform annual women's wellness exams. He will refer you to a Gyn. My prior doctor of 15 years & new doctor both regularly perform your annual women's wellness exam especially if pregnancy is not an issue unless you specifically request otherwise or have your own Gyn. For basic annual exams there's no real need for a specialist. My question is does he perform prostate exams on men & or is it just women's wellness he's not comfortable with? Because trust me, I don't like that exam very much either but it's a health necessity. If you're a women he may not be the right fit. He was very thorough in ordering lab test before your visit & taking vitals and reviewing them in great detail but he did not really leave time for addressing patient questions and concerns. By the time I got home I always felt that I didn't have a chance to discuss my concerns or he was dismissive of them. I always come in with a notepad to keep track of my doctor's comments & my questions. I did have one concern that I did a Telehealth appointment. He suggested I come in for a physical exam, which I did, but he never performed the physical exam. I was too embarrassed to ask. I came to Dr. Wallis when my primary care doctor of 15 years moved her practice too far. He came highly recommended. I was contemplating another doctor but chose Dr. Wallis on their recommendation. His concierge service was not feasible so I moved to another doctor who is a good fit.

Well, I did not even get past the person who answered the phone! She picked up the phone like she was answering her phone at home! I said "hello" just to make sure someone was on the line because all I noticed was that the recording had abruptly stopped. I said hello again because I thought I heard someone respond but I was not sure since again, the voice was was muffled. She practically yelled at me, definitely snapped at me and said HELLO CAN I HELP YOU!? I said "Oh hello, sorry I did not know if someone was there I can barely hear you" I can't recall what she said but her tone was abrasive and she was not helpful, she just sounded like a miserable front desk clerk that hated her job and just wanted to get through with the day! Well, I am a person who is unwell, the last thing I need is a rude person as a gatekeeper to the improvement of my health (I called at 3:14 on May 7th in case the business would like to try to track down who this person is) this definitely had a chilling effect on me and I doubt I would even care to try and call again. I really don't care to deal with mean people, especially if I DO like the doctor, since then I would have to deal with this person more!! I actually asked the person on the phone "why are you speaking to me this way? you sound like to are trying to get me to hang up and all I said was that I could barely hear you." she just said she was only trying to help and she immediately tried changing her voice to a friendly tone. I just hung up. I don't have time for games. This is my health. To the business: I just want to point out that I used to work in a VERY busy, VERY successful doctor's office for almost a decade and the people who answer the phone are integral to the success of a practice! If you need to pay someone more, give them more benefits, FIND SOMEONE ELSE that is possibly younger, fresher and more pleasant who appreciates their job, so be it, it's worth it. The demeanor of the secretary or receptionist is the first thing patients will encounter besides these reviews. It's unfair to this practice to have unpleasant people ruining an experience before it begins. I want to hear an inviting voice, I want to see a smiling face and I want to feel at ease. My 89 year old father and I have been seeing Dr Kissel for 30 years…read more He saved my fathers life in the early 90's by recommending exploratory surgury after two ER visits and hospital stays found no reason why he was losing blood to point where he would pass out. Dr Kissel actually went with my father to the surgury. They found internal bleeding. Dr Kissel is a great doctor! He will NOT tell you what you want to here, he'll tell you the truth. I have always joked that I need to find a fat doctor who drinks and smokes to tell me I'm OK! But, I want to live. Thank You Dr Kissel.
