I'm going to preface this by saying that Dr Zelta is a lovely woman and a knowledgeable Dr. I've only used this office a handful of times before and never had issues, but I also wasn't waiting to have important test results conveyed to me within a stated time period. 1. Last week I was sick- abdominal, crazy fever and chills, headache. Called my primary Dr ( Zelta) on Thursday, and had a tele call with her that day. Even though I'm vaxxed, she wanted to rule out Covid and the flu, so she got me an appt at the Torrance Memorial testing center and said we'd go from there after she got the results. 2. Friday am- got tested. Told Dr would call me with results within 24 hours. 3. Saturday- no call, so later in the afternoon I called the on call line and asked if the Dr on call could check my chart for the results, but the results weren't there. 4. Sunday - still no call from Dr Z and I'm super sick and appendix feeling weird and ppl I'd been around were still waiting to hear results.I call Dr on call and explain situation, results still not in my chart. 5. Monday- call Dr office at 8am when they open, explain that I was waiting for my covid and flu test results from Friday AM and that Dr Z still hadn't called me with results. Told she was off Monday...so I asked if anything was updated in my chart since I was having appendix symptoms and needed to clarify that the fever wasn't attributable to covid or flu. Office staff checked-they have the results and they are NEGATIVE. Yay. They said they'd text Dr Z and let her know what was going on. I also made an appt to come in to see an available Dr to make sure my appendix was ok, since Covid and flu weren't the culprit. At 445 I show up to see Dr Mehta and notice they are locking the doors, but figure they must be open til 6, since the appt person knew it was an appendix -related appt and I'd prob need a cat scan to make sure my appendix was ok. Dr Mehta checks me out and then is like yeah, you've got something going on here, but we are closed and can't do a cat scan now and it's not safe to wait until tomorrow so you need to go to the ER NOW. Okay, so the appt people knew it was a possible appendix issue at 9am, yet they book me an appt so close to closing time that I was unable to get any tests done to diagnose me? Or maybe I could have gotten the test, but no one wanted to stay late to do it..... So...Dr Mehta treats me in Zelta's absence, and sends me to the ER. You'd think he would convey this to Zelta since he was covering one of her patients and that she'd follow up with me the next day when she returned to work? Also- still no call from Zelta. 6. Monday evening ER visit- The cat scan came back negative for appendicitis, but my white blood cells and fever were still going crazy, so they did like 4 blood tests, and the ER doctor told me that my Dr would call me with the results early the next day. This is where the communication between Mehta and Zelta is important, so that my regular Dr would know that I was in the ER and that it would be important to get my lab results reported back to me ASAP. Right? 7. Tuesday - Even though the ER doc said I'd hear from my Dr with the results in a few hours, by noonish I still hadn't heard from Zelta. I called the office and explained to the same lady from Monday that the Dr had not called me to follow up and asked if the results were in my chart from my blood work at the ER the night before, because I was told she'd call me with the results and I still hadn't heard from her at all. She apologized again, seemed surprised that I not only never got a call about the Covid and flu tests even after the office lady texted Dr Z on Monday, but that I was nervously awaiting my ER lab work to see what the eff is up with me and Dr Z hadn't called me about that either. Then the lady said.....she had a half day today and is done for the day!!!!WTF!!!Dr Z was in for a half day that day and she still never called me to follow up!!!WTF!!!! AND then the lady tells me that Zelta is now off on Weds too and won't be back until Thursday. Maybe Mehta would step up and call me with the results, since he was the last Dr to see me? NOPE. Ok WOW. This is the most basic Dr - patient courtesy - calling your patient to give them lab results. 8.Wednesday- Dr's 2nd day off in 3 days, and no phone call with the lab results. I called in to see if they had them yet, but still not in my chart. It's Weds night now and Zelta still hasn't called. Pick a different doctor and Dr's office unless you're okay with such shitty Dr- patient communication. read more

Dr. Zelta is a genius. I went to 7 doctors over 7 years for a rash on my face which started bc of cortisone cream that was prescribed to me for a dry spot by my eye, which caused rash all over my face and body and weakened my immune system, which lead to frequent infections (lungs, stys, boils), which lead to lots and lots of antibiotics, which lead to fungal infection that almost killed me - started as a boil made worse by antibiotics that caused fever for days, rash everywhere, red spots all over body, pain in lungs until I took fluconazole, which made me better instantly, but the rash on my face remained. The urgent care that had provided me the fluconazole said they could not prescribe more and that I would need to let my body heal it itself, so over the next few years I tried everything from apple cider vinegar, olive oil, coconut oil, tea tree oil, expensive face lotions (don't use any of these on a fungal infection, they burned so bad) etc etc to every over the counter antifungal to bleach. Bleach worked the best to keep it in check (did not hurt at all unless you left it on too long - rinse off immediately) but did not keep it away and it was extremely drying. I went to see other doctors for help but every new doctor took one look at me and said it was eczema or psoriasis (because they're probably taught in medical school that a rash on an asian (I'm asian) is automatically eczema or psoriasis - no need to test to confirm, and both are conditions that cannot be cured but managed with a lifetime of drugs like cortisone cream, how convenient for the drug companies). But Dr. Zelta actually listened to my explanation of how it all happened and recommended an over the counter antifungal shampoo. I tried Selsen Blue and it worked. Completely cleared the rash on my face I had dealt with for 7 years - from 29 to 35 - which had forced me to quit exercising because the sweat burned my face, prevented me from being able to wear make up or socialize, caused me to flake chunks of skin at my desk, and resulted in many sick says that almost jeopardized my position at work. Dr. Zelta gave me my health back. So if you are dealing with an issue no other doctor is able to resolve, don't give up hope, try Dr. Zelta. (I still get sick when I drink wine/beer/consume too much sugar - causes fatigue followed by rash on my face - but I'm able to keep it in check by drinking lemon water several times a week, taking probiotics, and if drinking alcohol, by sticking to vodka or whiskey. I also always have a couple bottles of selsen blue with me always.) read more

Last year I was looking for a new primary care doctor / internist and found Dr. Zelta's name listed in my insurance carrier's physician database. Some research on a number of sites reflected strong reviews. Unfortunately at the time I called the office I was told it would be a 7 month wait for new patients - seems she only sees new patients occasionally. I booked an appointment and found another doctor in the interim. The interim doctor was okay, and I would have stayed with him had he been excellent, but decided to wait for my appointment with Dr. Zelta. Twice during my 7 month wait the office called to let me know there was a cancellation and I could see Dr. Zelta sooner. Unfortunately I was traveling both times so could not go. Earlier today I had my appointment and must say I walked away impressed - Dr. Zelta spent a significant amount of time with me, asked lots of questions regarding my family health history, listened intently and spoke openly. As time goes by I will see if she and her staff continue to earn a 5 star rating, but based on 1st impression of Dr. Zelta and the office staff I came in contact with I can only say best South Bay physician I have been to in nearly 2 decades. BTW, definitely worth the wait! With respect to the 1 star review by JAG J., while I can empathize with her situation, few doctors are willing to immediately take on a new patient (especially a sick one); she should have gone to see her OBGYN, or used Urgent Care or an eHealth app, such as Heal and Teladac. read more

Sr.Zelta is our family doctor. My husband and I were so lucky to get on the list of her patients a few years back. She is the most punctual doctor I've ever met. She's kind, perfectly organised and extremely knowledgeable. The waiting time is never longer than 15 minutes, I've never felt rushed. Dr.Zelta addresses all my concerns. She has always referred me to the best specialists. I know that my records are in order, she is very disciplined about requesting records from other specialists. Her nurse Miguel is also very professional and kind. I feel our family is in the hands of the best team there could be. I REALLY don't like going to the Doctor and hadn't been for a very long time. Being pretty healthy, I knew I had to establish myself with someone in case something happened in the future. I found Dr. Zelta by accident and fell in love with her right away! She's young and a breath of fresh air! I found her to be attentive and very knowledgeable. She takes her time and answers all my questions. In this world of managed care, I fully expected I would be rushed but didn't feel it AT ALL. Her staff is wonderful also with one slight billing issue that was corrected with a couple of phone calls. HINT...remind them to code your preventive visits and lab work as 'preventive' and you won't have the same problem I had. She just moved offices to Hermosa Beach and it's a great location, easy to get to, lots of free parking that's easy to get in and out of. In case you fit any of these parameters, it's helpful to know. She accepts Medicare Advantage plans along with CoveredCA PPO Plans Since I'm not only a patient but also an individual health and Medicare insurance agent, I hear the pros and cons of all the local doctors from many of my clients. I have recommended many of my own clients to her and every single one of them says the exact same thing...they LOVE her! I'm extremely happy with Dr. Z and just found out she's on maternity leave so she'll be out till August but I hear her nurse practitioner is very good also. This is a review for Dr. Zelta's office and not specifically Dr. Zelta. DIRECTIONS/PARKING. I had a touch of trouble finding this place. If you're coming from PCH, navigation will appear to tell you to pull into the CVS parking lot, but if you do that you're literally above the doctor's office. Instead, you need to keep going on Pier Ave and turn right onto Ardmore Avenue. The parking structure entrance is off of Ardmore Avenue. Parking is PLENTIFUL and FREE, which is awesome. Also it's super nifty having that CVS located just above the office because that's a convenient place to pick up any prescriptions you may have from your appointment. FACILITIES/LAB. I love that this is a small facility. I hate PAYING for parking in some giant ass parking lot and having to walk through a million corridors and up and down escalators and follow maps to find the practice I'm supposed to go to (cough, Kaiser, cough). This practice is nothing like that - it's small and boutiquey and the reception is footsteps from the parking lot. So easy! If the doctor recommends lab work, there is a lab directly next door to Dr. Zelta's office (Dr. Zelta's office is 705 Pier Street, Suite A and there's a lab at 705 Pier Street, Suite B). Note that this lab is open 7am-4pm M-F and are closed for lunch from 11am-12pm, so if you think you may need lab work, don't schedule your appointment during their lunch! SCHEDULING. I called for an appointment with Dr. Zelta in March 2017 and her next available appointment wasn't until June 2017 (though they informed me I can call back to see if any cancellations open time slots up). I'm under Healthnet HMO and had listed Dr. Zelta as my primary care physician, so I had a momentary panic that I wouldn't be able to see a doctor for MONTHS. Fortunately, the person on the phone kindly explained that my insurance would allow me to see anyone in that office, not just Dr. Zelta and that Dr. Nicole Lee had availability the next week, awesome! ACCOMMODATING. Before my appointment with Dr. Nicole Lee, I woke up one day with a raging ear infection and if you've ever had one of those, you know they are painful AF. I get these from time to time, unfortunately, so I already know I just need a script for antibiotics to knock it out. I hate going to urgent care (and FORGET the emergency room), so I called Dr. Zelta/Dr. Lee's office to see if there was ANY way they could schedule me in for just a quick visit to get an antibiotics script because the pain couldn't wait a week. The person on the phone seemed genuinely interested in trying to squeeze me in and kindly (and MERCIFULLY) gave me a 15 minute appointment that same day (PRAISE THE LORD). Dr. Nicole Lee examined me and gave me an antibiotics script and a referral to an ear nose throat doctor, which she took the time to expedite through their in-house referrals specialist, so awesome!!! RECEPTION/NURSE. Reception people are super nice and helpful. I've only been to this office twice now, but both times my wait time was very reasonable. Next time I'm there, I'll have to get the name of the nurse who sees you before the doctor because she is seriously above and beyond COURTEOUS to all the patients. Just awesome. BIRTH CONTROL. FYI if you want birth control pills or the depo provera shot, this place does those in-house. If you want an IUD or certain other forms of birth control, they will refer you to an OBGYN. Dr. Nicole Lee seemed very educated on all the different options, so she's great to consult with if you're overwhelmed by choices. TIP. My only criticism of the office is that Dr. Nicole Lee feels a little rushed with you. She's completely thorough in her advice and doesn't seem rushed due to apathy; rather, I think she's rushing a little just to try to be considerate of all patients and make sure their appointments start on time. I understand that completely and appreciate that my appointments start on time. I think appointments are only 15 minutes long by default, so if you think you have several things to discuss, I would recommend you request a 30 minute slot when you call to request an appointment. The copay is the same regardless and it gives you a little more room to talk with the doctor during your appointment. read more

I found Dr. Zelta about 2 years ago when I moved from Texas. Finding a good doctor isn't always easy and so I feel lucky that I found her. She is super friendly, knowledgeable and very thorough. I found this doctor on behalf of my insurance, The first appointment I try to make to see her was for a physical checkup but the staff told me the next available appointment will be in 3 months from the time I called. Which is outrageous so I made an appointment for a women's issue that I was concern about and the first impression when I met Dr. Zelta was friendly, but when my results came back one of the staff members called regarding the results which is fine but they obliviously don't know anything else besides reading the results and therefore I had questions regarding my results and asked to speak to Dr. Zelta and after she did call me but I missed her call because I'm at work from 8am-5pm. I returned her call and once again I couldn't speak to her. So then the staff members tell me I need to come in because I'm just playing phone tag...Which I told the staff Dr. Zelta should of called me in the first place with the results and if I had questions she could of answer them there and then. They need to understand I'm at work; I can't just answer my personal phone whenever I like. Also if it was something I diffidently needed to come in, I will but I just have some questions that could easily be answered over the phone. I can't just take time off work and not get paid because the Doctor does not have the courtesy of calling herself. She is my Doctor and I should be able to have access to give her a call whenever I have a concern or at least be able to get a hold of her but I can't even do that. Until today I have not had a conversation with her I know I'm not her only patient but should be considerate of every patient, not so professional after all. read more
