More stars needed! All I needed was a jewelry 'repair', as in, my lovely wife's diamond in her engagement ring was loose in its settings. Welp, I had searched high and low for that stone before placing it on her finger, so you can bet I was highly interested in making sure it was secured on the ring. So that was my quest...until I walked into Joslin's and saw SO many different directions that I could go with this ring. I had long ago selected a fine diamond, in a solitaire cut, and had had it mounted on white gold for a simple yet elegant representation for our bond. But now, with scores of other designs, I felt like the diamond should stand out with a backing chorus of smaller accompaniments. A young man (if only I would have gotten his name) patiently showed me plenty of options until I found a split style in which her ring could slide into and stand out. I wanted the two rings to be 'connected' which turned out to be an easy jewelry process, thus making my decision for me. I wasn't really turned off by the 'price tag' attached to the split ring I had chosen, but then I was told that the prices were negotiable. Hey, I like saving a buck as much as the next guy, but I was quoted a price that was about 2/3 of the price on that sticker, so sign me up! Oh, and before I forget, when I originally said I was in the store to have a jewelry repair, I was told, 'Sure, I can do that for free right now'?. Yeah, so I was hooked at the ring price and the service clearly backed up their commitment to their customer. I left the ring I had brought in, gave my contact info, and was promised a next-day turnaround. Next day, sure as you please, I got a call and went to fetch the ring. I was tickled at the result, the diamond set amongst smaller diamonds, with the two pieces soldered together and fit to the size of the ring I brought in. The owner, Gary, chatted me up while I checked out and assured me that he was just as vested in my purchase as I was and that now my ring was 'part of their family' and should we need any adjustments or repair, then bring it in and Joslin's would take care of it. I was pretty much in awe of the service, the result, and the experience and I couldn't wait to return the ring to my wife. So I told her that I had gotten 'her ring fixed', just like I said I would do, and she was super-pleased with the result. THAT was what I wanted, and Joslin's team of professionals made that happen. WOW!!! OMG, WOW!!! First of all let me begin to say how wonderful experience we had going in for our first visit. First of all thinking of where does a Same Sex Couple go for Jewelry without having any fear of being unwelcomed. We knew of Joslin's through TV ads and thought about going there. We asked around for suggestions and no one could seem to think of a LGBTQ Jeweler in Kansas City area. My partner & I were getting married and already had rings form many years ago but did not fit. Fast Forward, Walking in, we were greeted with open arms. We were so comfortable with their customer service and friendliness. They are a family business and what we felt walking out was feeling we were part of their family. Elicia was so helpful with helping us. By the time we were done I believe we met the entire family and all were so helpful. No matter how many customers were in their store, everyone never had to wait. That must be part of their business. I went in to fix part of the clasp on my necklace in November. They fixed it so quick & well, only $10! I went back a few days ago because the other side of the clasp broke the same way & they fixed it in shop, not even 5 mins. They didn't even make me pay which was so generous of them. I've done business with Joslin's for years. I have bought some nice pieces of jewelry there and have gotten reasonable prices. I have also had jewelry repaired there and they've done a wonderful job. I had an opal ring with multiple stones surrounding a larger stone and one of the smaller stones fell out. They were able to match a replacement opal nearly perfectly and replace it so that if I didn't know which one was replaced, I wouldn't be able to figure it out. They also stand behind their work. They once added gold spring loaded earring leverbacks to some jade stones for me and after a few wearings, the leverback "sprung" on one of them. I figured that was just what sometimes happens to those as it had happened to other earrings I'd had in the past. I brought them back to Joslin's for repair and they replaced the leverbacks free of charge. Most recently, I gave them quite a challenge. For our second anniversary, my husband and I decided to get a matching band for my diamond channel-set wedding band and have the bands welded to my engagement ring. The only problem was finding a band to match my wedding band. I had already searched far and wide but was unable to find anything that was a reasonable match. Joslin's was able to send my wedding band off to New York to get it matched with a new band that is nearly identical. They then did expert work at welding them all together perfectly, even taking out just a tiny notch of gold where the solitaire setting hits each ring so they fit together just perfectly. Words cannot express how happy I am with the end result. It's really beautiful. In addition to the really great workmanship, these folks know how to do customer service right. They're always friendly and helpful and the owner and the manager are very involved in the day-to-day operations of the store. There is no other jeweler anywhere that I would trust like I trust Joslin's. Oh...and a great tip: If you have white gold jewelry that is losing its luster, bring it Joslin's. For a really reasonable price, they can clean your jewelry and add a nice layer of rhodium that will make it look shiny and new! read more

Cameron P (of Joslin's) is such an incredibly kind individual, but more importantly as someone who is very familiar with the trade I can honestly say that they are highly skilled at their craft while also providing value and guidance to their customers (and not just sell you!). There are not many full service stores with a bench jeweler on site (multiple actually), especially ones that are run with such fluidity, ensuring that customers needs are beyond met. Value (or price-wise) they are extremely fair and you get way more than what you pay for in terms of expert guidance, quality and service, and they do it so authentically. TLDR: This family owned and operated store is the real deal -- great values, great quality, actual experts. I could not imagine buying a diamond online with all of the nuances involved, or even begin to fathom how to create a structurally sound ring (not one that is cheaply made to economies of scale as thin as brittle as a tin like most places online who compete with each other and cut corners to do so). If you are looking for actual fine jewelery piece, and a true jewelry craftsman and you happen to live near this gem of a place (that is FULL SERVICE which means your gems are not risked being shipped all around if you ever need repairs), then consider yourself lucky that you don't have to roll the dice to get something well made, for a great value with actual experts there to help you every step of the way. I took the time to write this review because I believe in small businesses like these, and especially ones that are run so well bc they do it out of a passion for their craft. Jewelry repair: My husband found the most beautiful necklace here for our 25th Christmas together. I had actually spotted it online, but didn't dare tell him about it, because it was more than I wanted him to spend on me. I didn't even tell him I had looked at Joslin's website, or any jewelry. Lo and behold, my beloved knows me too well. He picked the exact necklace I had fallen (silently) in love with. However, after wearing it one time, the clasp broke. :( I was able to get to the store the week after New Year's Day, and they repaired it on the spot AND upgraded the clasp. I was offered a different chain as well, but I do love this one. (I also purchased a chain for a VERY reasonable price for other jewelry I have at home.) Dave and Gary, as well as Gary's daughter (?) were just wonderful. Dave and Gary both treated me like an old friend....with deep respect, appreciation and happiness. I refer to Joslin's as "my jeweler" By no means am I in a financial situation that allows me to frequent a "jeweler" too much but the people here treat me like I am Jay Z. From the moment I walked in the door a few years ago, I felt like I was a part of the family (hugs and all) Sure, there's places that spend tons of money on advertisements like Jared, Kay, Helzberg, ect, but this place in Overland Park doesn't need to do so. Their customer service and fair pricing has afforded them to stay a successful business for many years...and that says a lot. Background: he's a skeptical advertising guy who appreciates good customer service. We officially have a jeweler. Can't say that's ever been the case before. My wedding ring had finally suffered its last indignity, after losing a stone, warping a setting, and finally cracking where it had been resized oh so many years ago. So we were off to find a replacement worthy of the many years we've now been together. We headed here (once again, after reading the reviews), and the service was amazing. No high pressure tactics whatsoever, no lingering at the expensive settings by the salesguy (whose name I really should remember), no suggestions that we trade in my meager little center stone for something with more bling. In fact, they bent over backwards to help us find a reasonably priced dual-ring setting that fit my existing center stone nicely. And then helped me design a pair of gorgeous stud earrings with the leftover side stones. The prices were all much better than we would have expected, and we got a formal paper appraisal in the mail a week later to add to the paperwork file. Oh my gosh, I feel like I'm in a state of shock. I was referred to Joslin's by a family member and I'm so glad I was! I have had this ring for almost two years and never had it cleaned, other than attempting to do natural cleaning at home with baking soda (which is a total bust.) My ring has been cloudy for so long, I honestly forgot what it really looks like. I wear it everyday, I never take it off. I finally was so disgusted with the look of it and spontaneously decided on my lunch break to take it in. I called prior and someone told me it would be $20 and I would get it back tomorrow. I was fine with this and I drove over. When I walked in, a woman immediately approached me and took my ring. She walked to the back for about 3 minutes. I honestly wasn't sure whether to wait around or not, considering I thought I would have to come pick it up tomorrow. I was browsing the store and the woman walks back with my ring. I was expecting her to tell me they were too backed up to do it or couldn't clean it for some reason. To my surprise, it was sparking brighter than it did brand new! I couldn't believe it. I thanked her a million times and then went to go stand at the front desk area and pulled out my wallet. She then asked if I needed anything else and I told her I was ready to pay. The best experience!! Suzanne was amazing- we went through a bunch of random jewelry items that I inherited from my mother, and sorted out the costume from the treasures. I look awful in yellow gold so I was delighted when she told me that I could have my mother's wedding ring "rhodium dipped" so that it looks silvery/much better- I will do this as a birthday gift to myself!
