When we got off the train in Jersey City I told my daughter "Toto we're not in Kansas any more!" She laughed. The subway was so clean I knew we left the city. What a difference. She was irritated with me taking pictures. I wanted to take pictures of all the tile work. It was so beautiful. I'll be back to go to the Newport Mall. I'll get the tile pictures then. I love the colorful tiles!! Nice clean subway station.

Unlike the platforms at the other PATH stations, the platforms at JSQ are outdoors. So be prepared if you are making a transfer at this station (bundle up during winter and peel off some layers during summer). This is especially important if you are transferring during the weekend and have to wait a long time - and, more often than not, you will wait a long time with the alternate weekend train route. Track 1 and Track 2 share one platform, while Track 3 and 4 share the other. At each platform, there are two sets of escalators/stairs and one elevator. The escalators/stairs will get you to the level where the ticket machines and turnstiles are, the concourse level, and then the plaza level (street level) where the banks and Chickpea are located. Taking the elevator may be confusing at first. From the platform, the elevator will take you to the concourse level and there are turnstiles here. Once you pass through the turnstiles, you'll walk through a short hallway that will lead you to the area where the escalators/stairs are. Now, to get to the elevator that will get you to the plaza level, you need to head towards Deli Plus, pass through the glass doors, and then you'll see the elevators. These elevators can get you to plaza level as well as the parking deck levels. The station gets a bum rap. Yes, it's not as polished and nice looking as the other stations, but hey it gets the job done. If you think you are safer at one of the other stations, I'd argue that PATH crazy can happen at ANY of the stations. PATH crazy is indiscriminate. Both my creepiest PATH experience and most gangster/scariest PATH experience happened at the Newport station. No matter which station, just make sure to watch your back, hold onto your stuff, and keep your eyes open. You'll be fine.

THIS STATION SUCKS BECAUSE THE VENDING MACHINES NEVER WORK PROPERLY. I have no issue at other locations like WTC purchasing a fare. I experience no problems purchasing metrocards in NYC stations. ONLY THIS STATION seems to give me problems and then I constantly end up missing my train because of the malfunctioning machines. Lastly, there are homeless encampments here, so the outside of the station before you walk in is atrociously filthy and feels unsafe.

Comparing PATH to the NYC Subway is like comparing a Cadillac Escalade to a Garbage truck. Okay, maybe the PATH isn't quite an Escalade, but it's certainly a nice clean ride. And the NYC Subway? Yep, it's a dump. The PATH trains are clean and comfortable and most of all, quiet. The Subway is a squealing metal-on-metal piercing sound that even sticking your fingers in your ears can't block. PATH is cheap, cheap, cheap and it's fast, fast, fast. $2.05 to get from anywhere to anywhere. Like from the Newport station where my hotel is to WTC or 33rd Street. Awesomeness. I have only ONE complaint. On the CIty side, the stations are hard to find at night. Would it kill you to light them a little better? I wandered in a small circle for a while trying to find the 33rd Street Station. And the Christopher Street? It's in the middle of the block and there is zero lighting on the signs. WTH? PATH: Port Authority Trans Hudson. Any now you learned something!

Journal Square PATH Station is a low stress way into Lower Manhattan from Jersey City Came here on a Saturday with a family of 3 (1 toddler in tow) to catch the PATH train to the World Trade Center (WTC) PATH Station. We tried it out after having experiencing the Dover Train Line to Penn Station which took about an hour and a half. From there we had to either walk or take the subway to Midtown for 20+ minutes. From our previous experiences we discovered that a toddler (or their parents) doesn't always handle a subway ride AND a long train ride so well after spending an entire day in The City. So what makes Journal Square PATH Station a destination to reduce some of your travel stress? You take your car and spend less time on a fixed path train which allows you to make stops or save time as needed. Journal Square Parking (CASH ONLY) that has plenty of parking and elevators directly into Journal Square from the garage. You can get your PATH train tickets if you just make a U-turn from the elevators next to the Deli. From there you can walk outside through the glass doors to get to your PATH train turnstiles via the escalators or stairs. You also have an opportunity to purchase your PATH tickets near these turnstiles. You only need to get onto 1 of 2 open air platforms, which feel great when you're wearing the appropriate seasonal clothing. It seems that you have enough time to switch platforms if you realize you are in the wrong spot when your PATH train arrives. Once on the correct PATH train you will notice you are; in comfortable air-conditioning, able to watch some PATH TV, able to here clear announcements of current and next stops, not feeling the typical sense of despair/dread associated with NY Subways. Once we arrived in the World Trade Center (WTC) PATH Station and went up from the platform into the transportation center we were impressed with the look of the place. Overall I'd say the Car & PATH train trip saved us about an hour verses the 2+ hours that we typically would spend on the Dover Line & Subway combo, ONE WAY! That's right, in total that's an extra 2 hours of our day to spend enjoying the family, The City, eating, whatever it is that you feel like doing on your travels. So try it out and see what type of relaxation some extra time can offer you and/or your family. No people from New Jersey or New York were harmed during the writing of this review. And if there were, FUGETABOUTIT!!!

Not a great station. Limited spots for uber pickups, limited parking options. Trains don't run often and hence are packed.

The path is always clean and has plenty of space to fit a bike in all the carts. I use this train to go to WTC and 34th St.

I take this van line everyday. It is a decent service at a reasonable price. Here are the pros and cons. Pros: Runs frequently; Cost is not excessive (currently $3/trip or $2.50 with purchase of tickets to NYC, local fare is $1.50); Average trip time is not usually long Cons: NYC tickets can only be purchased in a limited time period on weekdays at Port Authority. From sometime around 2 or 3pm until sometime in the evening; NYC tickets can only be purchased with cash or TransitChek. Credit cards are not accepted. Many drivers do not speak English; Drivers frequently drive extremely slow and stop at green lights when they are trying to get more fares (think longer morning commute); Drivers will take a longer alternate route in an attempt to get more fares If there are not "enough fares" on board, drivers will have passengers get off at the last stop and board another van which is close to being full. Some drivers will pass by stops with one or two people even in inclement weather; Seating on some vans does not have sufficient legroom for average height people. (i'm 5'5",112 lbs and have encountered some serious legroom issues); Some drivers smoke on the vans prior to passenger boarding; Summertime AC is definitely an issue on most of the vans; This is not the company's fault per se but people who use their cell phones while in transit tend to speak on their cell phones as if they are in their own home. Even when it is obnoxiously loud the drivers say nothing. Overall, It is okay and definitely the fastest option commuting from the Heights or Union City but I can't wait to move somewhere that has a more mainstream commuting option. I gave it three starts but I would really rate it a 2.5.

On June 26th 2026 Between 11am - 11:30 am. I was heading back to JC. So, I sat and waited for the 51 Bus to arrive. BUS 102 came and the passenger disembarked then I proceeded to enter the bus. The Young Man i.e. the Driver in his late 20's early 30's said he is not taken any passengers. I existed the bus and when back to my seat less than 2 mins several passenger came and he took all of them so I proceeded to the Bus and ask are taking passengers. He said nothing and took my fair. We departed shortly with about 5 to 7 passengers and once across the driver the passengers disembarked along JFK Blvd. I was the last one on the Bus and the told me to get off the Bus he is not going to Journal Sq then proceeded to tell me that was the reason why he said he was not taking passengers. To be fair to him he gave me back 1/2 the fair but that is not the issue. The real issue is the level of Professionalism exhibited by these drivers and I know that it can go both away but I was not rude or disrespectful.

This one operates from the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway in front of the main Harborside building, making it very convenient for those who work in Harborside or live in Urby. It doesn't seem fully complete yet, but today is their first day of operation. I just wish they had later hours and operated on the weekend. Also, similar to the Paulus Hook ferry, they only run to midtown during commute hours, and I think a few boats to midtown in the afternoon would be nice. Those complaints aside, like I said, I can never truly hate on more public transportation. NY Waterway boats are nice and comfortable, generally well kept, and obviously you can't beat the views from this ferry trip. It's quite a bit pricier than the PATH, but if you're a tourist or have people from out of town visiting, it's a ride you should definitely take.

NY Waterway has very old (built in 1998) and decrepit ferries docking there only to drum up foot traffic for McCali's new waterfront project (currently an empty pointless space). The terminal often has broken ticket machines, and does not look very safe. There are men constantly repairing what appears to be a temporary and hastily constructed structure. You have to wait for the ferry in the rain, snow, or sweltering sun, when there is a perfectly good terminal building, with restrooms, and more connections five minutes away in Paulus Hook. I suspect that the only reason the rickety terminal even exists is because, according to the New York Times, NJ Transit subsidizes additional NY Waterway routes, even when they make no sense, and even when the service is very bad. Tax subsidized corporate greed and bad service.
