We got customized printed lattes, mocha, cappuccinos, with Yelp logos on them, SUPER COOL! The pineapple bun with ham an egg was something interesting as well as the maple syrup cotton candy, something you don't see very often! Amy and Kris sure started up the party tonight with their karaoke skills! I absolutely had a great time, and sure everyone that attended had one too!! Despite the gloomy and rainy weather, my plus one and I had an awesome time. Markham Museum is a nice place to visit and parts of it has this "romantic feel" which is great for first dates or if you'd like to try something new as a couple. Mangia & Bevi has this nice and cozy vibe and it is a perfect venue for a gathering of new and old Yelpers and have a sample of what they offers. Since there were so many first time attendants and the lack of communication, I believed a lot of people came here expect to have a "brunch'. As an experienced YEE attendant myself, I do know that 90% of YEE is more about socializing with peers and sampling what our host offers. I had chicken and waffle at Cluck Cluck and dessert at Neo before attending this event. As I did not really have a chance to get near any food, aside from this one mouthful of nutella pizza sample. Teresa C also nice enough to offer me a spoonful of quiche which I was really thankful. I kind of feeling sorry for Mangi & Bevi's waitstaff when everyone trying to attack them for food. Ended up they just leave it on the 2 big tables and just let hungry yelpers fought it out. It was a mob scene. I hope moving forward we can all learn from this experience and organize future event accordingly. Good thing was there was never any line at the drink station. I ended up just drinking glasses of "juice" and chilling out with new and old friends near the bar area. Hoarding the pitcher of drinks and boxing out others....

It's located in office building and I was thinking whaaaaat?! No good could come of this! Did they want us to secretly photocopy some stuff on the side?! Well when I entered the space I was amazed - it's so gorgeous inside! Definitely my design aesthetic- exposed brick walls, dark and sexy lighting, gorgeous light fixtures- I was in home decor throws of ecstasy! Lovely drinks to start off the mingling and put you in a good mood....cuz you'd need it in a few minutes....just wait for it... Sadly I'm not sure what animals some of these people were raised by but I'm pretty sure this restaurant will never host a Yelp event again. It was like people hadn't eaten for days the way they attacked the food! Scavengers! Following the servers around with a hunger in their eyes that I've only ever seen on The Walking Dead. I only managed to try some blueberry dessert thing and the quiche...and only b/c another kind yelper gave me one of his! I was too scared to try and even attempt to forge my way in to get anything- i didn't want people mistaking my hands for chicken fingers!! I needed my hands to drive home later. A pack of hungry wolves was surely disappointing to me and my plus one, but at the same time we also got to see a horror show....so maybe it was a win? Great job Chantal and Kris for picking this restaurant as I would probably never have gone to it on my own. It was a great event regardless of the vultures circling about.

For the event, we were served clam, clam casino, and green mussels. The clams were unfortunately over-cooked and chewy and we could not eat all of them. The clams casino were cooked perfectly although they had a little too much breadcrumbs for my personal tastes. The mussels were done well. The best part of the meal was the homemade hot sauce- amazing flavor and the perfect amount of heat that was spicy but didn't obscure the flavors of the dish. It was simply delicious! Steve is very personable and is willing to stand by your table for a full conversation. We wish him well on his future plans with running a year-round restaurant!

Food was awesome, enjoyed a bit of Marben's signature burger and yummy risotto. Also really loved the dark n stormy cocktail - they have ginger beer on tap! But of course the highlight of the night was the focus on meal share (I actually ordered a meal share choice on my trip to Vancouver not really knowing what it was but thought it seemed like a great idea!). I was happy to learn more about this most worthy cause and look forward to visiting the participating restaurants in the near future!

It's a charitable organization which provides a meal for each designated menu item purchased (at participating restaurants). Not only do they service those in need locally, at PARC (Parkdale Activity-Recreation Centre), but they also extend a helping hand to Save the Children in Mali, Africa! A few other Canadian cities have restaurants that are participants as well with their own support servicing partners. We were able to try the two dishes on Marben's menu which are part of the Mealshare program: the famous burger with fries and a lovely risotto. It was nice being able to catch up with some fellow yelpers and meeting some new people as well. If you see Mealshare on a menu, consider ordering that particular dish. You will be helping someone in need, both locally and/or abroad. Thank you, Marben, for being part of this worthy cause. Thanks to the cool bartenders for the awesome libations! The dark and stormy was excellent.
