Child comes home happy and with a pile of craft projects. Rinse and repeat for one week. Owner Susan Gardner used to hold craft camp each summer at her home in Waunakee. I heard about craft camp last summer from a neighbor and signed my daughter up, not knowing what to expect. My daughter had a blast and the price was very reasonable. A win-win! Fast forward to the summer of 2013 when Susan opened Art Party Place in a nearby office park. It's a fun little shop full of cool crafting supplies (that's what my daughter tells me, and she's the expert when it comes to crafting). You can enroll your child for a half day (three hour) or a full day (six hour) session. Each day has a different theme with different projects. I've watched Susan in action at craft camp and she is energetic and engaging. The camp participants definitely seem to enjoy themselves. Their only option available was to change instructors and schedule. There is a big instructor rotation, and zero follow up with the parents on the kid's progress. The school's interest is to keep the kids on the same level for as long as possible, up to a year or more, as told directly by the school's owner. This means they are neither learning new skills, nor working on the ones the kids need to improve. They also allow older kids to use the restrooms and showers of the opposite sex without a parent present. Nothing was done when both parents complained about this on several occasions. When we emailed the owner to express our dissatisfaction and submit our cancelation, as we couldn't see our kid's account on their app since they changed our scheduled, instead of receiving a confirmation from them, we got a call from the owner where she screaming said that this is the way she runs her school. Zero people skills and customer service. If you want to pay good money for your kid to play in the pool, this school is for you. If you are looking for a place where your kid can learn how to swim, be confident in the water, and you are concerned about their progress, find a different option.
