They have an on-line booking but we couldn't see a place to request a pull-thru or to get any offered discounts. We made the reservation on-line after several dropped connections; unsure if it's my cell service in Lufkin or their line. We booked a back-in site since no pull-thru sites are available for our stay. The confirmation came by e-mail quickly. I searched the Garmin GPS for the address and it took awhile to find it. Try address number 10502 and street name FM 2410 in Belton TX if you also have trouble. It would have been nice if alternate directions due to construction on the Interstate were in the e-mail but we skipped a few exits and came back on the other side. Our first visual impression is positive. We checked in and one guy gave me backing up directions that got me right into the spot. This was very helpful for me since we've only been RVing for 5 weeks and prior to that I'd never towed anything. The roads are asphalt, the pads stone and the picnic table pads concrete. The picnic tables are nice. The water pipe is insulated. Wi-Fi is slow at times. There's no local road traffic noise and an occasional distant train. They have a playground, dog park, sheltered (roof and three sides) picnic area with five tables, kids pool, hot tub, some outdoor exercise equipment and Amazon Lockers. It appears they are expanding.

Great, well-priced activity for kiddos! We did the self-guided tour, which is $20 for two people. I…read morewas unsure if they had any sort of "kids under 2 are free" type policy, so I wasn't sure if my 22-month-old counted as part of our two, but the website said you could pay $10 for additional people when you're at the farm, so I did not worry about it. We weren't charged more at the farm, but still not sure what the official policy is. My husband, I, our toddler, and newborn went on a Saturday morning and had the place to ourselves. You book in advance on the website, and the self-guided tour is booked for 45 minutes. We saw a cow, alpaca, their famed mini-highland cow, chickens, dogs, ducks, a pig, baby (or small) goats, geese, an emu, and rabbits. The geese were a bit aggressive, but Renee put them away for us, which was much appreciated. The alpaca and ducks didn't want much to do with us, but the emu, goats, dogs, and pig were all very friendly. The cow was also very chill and didn't mind us petting him, but wasn't enthusiastic about our presence. I was a little freaked out by the emu, Lulu, but Renee assured us that she was curious but harmless and by the end we were all great friends. Some things to know: do not wear your best shoes. There are, understandably, animal droppings everywhere. There is a walking path from where you park to where you pet the animals, but the animal area is not stroller-friendly. Also, the goats may try to eat your stroller, which can't be good for them. I just baby-wore, and that worked great for us; we'll plan to do that from the start next time. The instructions say to park and then walk up to the big red barn. There were two red barns and nobody at either of them, so we weren't entirely sure if we needed to check-in or something. We also weren't sure if we could just start petting the animals we saw or if there was a specific place we were supposed to be. Renee came out after we'd been there about 10 minutes and chatted for a bit, but having someone greet us and tell us where to start, or at least some clear signage, would have given this the 5th star.

The hostess on the farm was very eager to please, she was warm and welcoming. The Experience included a charcuterie tray and bottle of wine for the evening. One thing my son talked about was how clear the stars were they could sit outside and look up at the stars and really see them because there was little to know light pollution.

Parking was $5. There was a playground for kids, the lake had a large swimming area, and the grass was well maintained. There were bathrooms, but they aren't air conditioned so it was like a sauna and there was no toilet paper as it got later in the night. Luckily I had baby wipes in my bags with me. There were ants that would bite every once in a while and that was probably the worst part. It would be nice to have power outlets for our speakers, a concessions stand for snacks so we don't have to leave the park if we ran out, and I wish we could have rented some boats or something. Launching the boat by 7:00 am and returning late in the evening, skimming across the water as the moon light bounced off the water, as smooth as black glass. The smell of the night air, the cool breeze on your sun kissed skin, and the sound of the engine purring as we cruised back to the dock, was the perfect ending to a perfect day. The Army Corps of Engineers designed these boat ramps with everyone's safety in mind. My brother and his friends would fish from dawn to dusk, and I would hang out in the water soaking up the sun with my girl friends. I still remember the smell of the hamburgers and hotdogs, cooking on the grill, and the sound of my parent's laughter echoing off the canyon walls as they sat around the fire with their friends and told stories about life and the crazy things that went on in their jobs. As an adult, I knew this was something I wanted to share with my children and so a family tradition began. We have, water-skied, tubed, fished, picnicked and camped at several of the wonderful locations on Lake Belton. Together we made great memories, our children have since grown up, and have moved away to start careers and families of their own. When my son was 15, he gave us the greatest compliment any parent could ever receive. He said, "Thanks for teaching me how to fish, to water ski, drive and pull a boat and park a camper. Because of you, I will be able to do all these things with my family one day." And so the family tradition of a day at the lake will continue for generations to come. I believe spending time together as a family needs to be a part of everyone's life, all to often we are caught up in the drama of our careers, and the exhaustion of trying to keep it together, we often forget the simpler things in life.
