Best neighborhood cleaner! We take our items on a regular basis and they are able to get out any spots or stains. Also the sweetest owners.

The owners are nice and we haven't had any issues as we used to go to Snuggles Cleaners before they closed. The only issue is that Joy Cleaners is very expensive. I think this place does fine for dry cleaning services but I would not trust them with tailoring. I tried to get a dress altered and the woman clearly had no idea what she was doing and tried to tell me the dress didn't need anything (it was a full size too big). I felt weird about leaving my dress there because I wasn't confident it would get done correctly. They called me 5 minutes after I left saying they couldn't work on the dress and I went back and got it. I then went to a real tailoring shop in Lincoln park and they did exactly what I needed them to do. read more

I love these people. I recently bought in a coat to be cleaned and I don't think it was this clean even when I first bought it. They remember you after like one visit, great customer service, and make you feel valued. I would for sure highly recommend them. read more

Besides the above review about the repair they ruined the collar on the coat. It was all chewed up when I picked it and he tried to keep the coat and only offered to pay me for the coat and not the cleaning and repair. Do not use this cleaners if you don't want to get scammed! This is a professional dry cleaner. You may be able to find it a little cheaper, but they will never deliver the high-quality service that this dry cleaner delivers. I'd rather pay a bit more and get excellent Quality Dry Cleaning. The staff is courteous and very knowledgeable. I'm extremely happy with all their services. Highly recommended. read more

This place is really expensive so I don't use them as my regular dry cleaner. However, they are worth the price for specialty items -- they cleaned my down coat when my regular cleaner wouldn't, and they were able to get a water stain out of a silk blouse where others tried & failed. Okay, let's be honest -- it was a vodka stain. But Joy Cleaners got it out ! read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. After taking my two pairs of jeans into the cleaners to hem, they assured me they would replace the hem with the original hem. No problem they said. Big problem. I came to pick up the jeans and they did not replace the shortened jeans with the original hem. AND the jeans were too short! Now my brand new jeans were completely ruined. They will not replace the jeans or reimburse me for the ruined items. I believe this is illegal and am looking into it. The wife of the owner lied and pretended there was a miscommunication. There was no miscommunication. This is a cut and dry situation and I can not believe I am the first person to go in there to hem a pair of jeans. I am appalled that a business owner would take advantage of someone who gave them 7+ years of business and will do nothing to rectify their wrong doing. I will never go back there and I hope you think twice about letting them touch your clothing. read more

My first yelp post, but taking the time to write this as they deserve it. Based on my dry cleaning services and coat repair experiences. When I first moved downtown in Lakeview, there was a cleaners on every corner.. literally. Out of the 4 places within a 2 block radius of my place off of Southport, I went into each, asked for pricing/timing. Although they were 2nd most expensive of the 4, they really earned my business with their customer service, quality of service, and respect (only .25 cents to .75 cents more per item of clothing for dry cleaning, so not destroying my wallet). The 2 closest to my place, which were cheaper and more convenient, didn't show me any respect, and didn't want anything to do with me. That was different at Joy Cleaners. I'm in there about once a week, and the employees (I believe husband and wife, although not confirmed) remember my name and phone number and are very nice. They are able to complete orders promptly if required; when I leave in the morning, it will be available when I come home that same night, no extra charge, but will usually have no rush, which will take 2-3 days. Overall, I would highly recommend them! read more

Should have probably learned from the post below about the ruined clothes and the fact that I had been returning clothes here pretty often recently due to additional stains on my shirt (which were not there when I gave them - The shirts were new). This time they took it to a whole new level - Ruined another article of clothing and simply told me that there is no way they could have done it. Not sure how I would have damaged my shirt but I found it to be pretty dishonest for them to blame it on me - a customer of over 3 years and who provides them with a sizable amount of business. The least they could have offered was some sort of credit at the store, but no. I simply got laughed out, lost my shirt ($70) and had to PAY to for it get cleaned again. wow. It may seem like they are the most awesome folks because they remember who you are... but once they damage your clothes... you will feel exactly the same way I do. read more

I have been going here for quite some time and generally approved of their quality of service. That is until my most recent trip. I dropped off eight button down shirts and when I went in to pick them up, one of the shirts was ripped quite noticeably on the arm. They showed me the rip before I paid and told me that I brought in a ripped shirt. I proceeded to ask why would I bring in a ripped shirt to get dry cleaned because the rip essentially ruined the shirt. The women behind the counter said that she would patch it and that I could pick it up after the weekend. She also tried to charge me for the full eight shirts until I proceeded to say you did not dry clean eight shirts. Somewhere in the back of my mind I thought they would do something for me but she only reduced for the total charge to seven shirts. When confronting her about the rip and asking what they were going to do to rectify their mistake she kept on saying that she would put a patch on it. When I went back in to pick up the ripped shirt, they showed me the patch and it is horrible. I knew before I picked up the shirt that it would not be acceptable but was curious to see what they would have to say. When I asked the man behind the counter about the fact that I did not bring it in ripped, he immediately said that I did not prove to him that all of the clothes that I dropped off did not have any damage and in fact it was my fault. As I walked out I told them that they had lost a customer and they said that it was fine. They ruined a $90 shirt and didn't do anything to rectify it. If you use this dry cleaner, be sure to prove that all articles of clothing are damage free. Otherwise they may damage your stuff and it will be your fault. read more

Joy's lost my husbands favorite shirt and refused to take responsibility for it. I was a customer for 2 years, when my husband picked up the dry cleaning without the receipt. When I went to the store asking if they had the shirt the owner pretty much laughed at me and told me I must have lost it. Too bad that shirt was the main reason for dropping off the dry cleaning and I vividly remember how wrinkled it was when the cashier was looking at it! I will never be back, these places are a dime a dozen. Hopefully I will find an owner with a little integrity. read more

There are dry cleaners on every corner, but I go out of my own neightborhood to go to the family-run Joy Cleaners on Southport. Although you may be able to find cheaper prices, they do a great job with dry cleaning and more importantly to me, have an excellent tailor! Joy Cleaners is amazing!!!!!! Anything I have brought there has turned out spotless. I even brought my wedding dress there to be cleaned and it turned out spotless. It was in terrible condition after our wedding day and it looked brand new when I picked it up. I have also turned down by other cleaners for fabric in terrible condition and Joy will take any material and make it look spotless. They are pricey but worth it for difficult items! read more

Joy Cleaners has never, ever let me down. Most recently I brought in two bright white polyester baseball jerseys to Joy. Both had deep, dark mustard stains over a month old on them. Joy got both stains out perfectly when I thought they were lost causes. Man behind the counter is always very friendly and will usually remember you by face. Couldn't recommend them more. read more

Great, great, great! They see me walking from my car and pull my cleaning for me so it is there when I get to the counter. So nice and friendly! Never have had an issue. At other drycleaners we have tried we had cracked buttons, wrong clothes but never at JOY! read more

This is my only yelp review. My reason for reviewing happened over two years ago. I decided if I'm ever going to stop saying "fuck you" under my breath as I drive past that place and then replaying the scenario in my head for the next couple minutes, then I need to tell you about it. I was a customer for about 10 years. I even went back there after I left the neighborhood. Thought it was nice that they remembered my name, even if I hadn't been there in 6 months. So the story goes, I had a skirt cleaned. It may have been a month or two after I got it back from the cleaner that I took it out of the bag to wear it again. I put it on and noticed that it looked as if it hadn't been pressed in the back. Annoying, but not a huge deal. Chose something else to wear. I decided to take the skirt back a couple days later to be re-pressed. Explained the problem. The tall-ish, thin guy behind the counter looked at it and begrudgingly said they would re-press it, and that I would be charged for it. What? That's what I paid for the first time! When I told him I wasn't willing to pay for that a second time, he started talking to his mom (the tailor), and they both literally laughed in my face! Yes, that quiet, demure little lady that sits in the window - that one! They pointed out that the hanger I brought the skirt back on was a hanger they hadn't used for over a year. They thought it was funny I guess that I had been fooled at my own game. The suggestion was that I had worn the skirt, gotten it all wrinkly, and then brought it back for a free pressing! I guess my mistake was putting the skirt back on a different hanger, but why would I pay attention to which hanger I put the skirt on? I was shocked and insulted. I said something like, "Treating your customers like this is no way to keep them coming back," to which he replied, "We have plenty of customers." So there it is. Do I feel better? Not sure. Maybe I feel a little better that others will know what assholes these people are. We'll see what happens the next time I drive past. read more

My husband has been a customer of theirs for 20 years. I have been a customer for 15 years. I took my $5K custom drapes to be dry cleaned. When I picked them up they were 8" too short. I went in, angry, and they said it wasn't their fault and that my drapes were over 10 years old insinuating it was the fabrics fault it shrunk. I asked them to fix it. They said they would. I picked them up again and they were now 4" short. I spoke with husband and he said he would let bottom seem down. I said fine but if it looked like shit they were going to have to replace them. When I brought them in I dropped them with the wife and I asked for my $70 back and she said no. I yelled and said you ruined my drapes. SHe called and said they would give me my money back. I went to pick up drapes (that were suppose to be re-hemmed) and my 70 and nothing had been done. I went in, pissed, the wife called me a liar and said I told them I only wanted my money back and didn't want them to rehem them. I asked why would I take 70 and not have them attempt to fix my $5K drapes? I said you clearly didn't understand what I said. She called me racist. She said she wasn't going to fix them. She wouldn't let me finish a sentence. I told her to talk to her husband b/c he was the one I had been communicating with through out this whole time. I asked her how come, NOT ONCE, had they apologized for ruining my drapes? That we had been going there for 20 years. She had nothing to say. She is literally crazy! I left the drapes, walked out and said to fix them. Not sure what is going to happen. Wondering what their responsibility is? I HIGHLY recommend never going there! EVER! I am actually shocked. She actually said "how do I know how long these drapes really were?" As if I have nothing better to do then to bring my drapes back and forth to them 6 times? read more

This was my first time at Joy Cleaners and I will NEVER give them any of my business again! I droped of my winter coat to be cleaned( not a cheap one either. )When I picked up the coat is was completly ruined. The fabric had been burned and stained almost looked like scratches all over the coat. It looked terrible, and they told me that was the way i had droped it off and there was nothing they could do about it. I'm 100% postive that when i droped off my coat it was not like that.
