Joy Marie ruined our daughter and son-in-law's wedding reception and cast a large black cloud over the honeymoon. How? At the reception she took the engagement and wedding rings to another floor to photograph them on a glass table. When she was asked to return them, SHE COULD NOT REMEMBER WHAT SHE HAD DONE WITH THEM!!! They were never found. Police were called and a report taken during the reception. Joy Marie was woefully inadequately insured for the property loss (1/8th the value of the rings). Although she cried about how badly she felt (nothing compared to how the bride and groom were feeling, I can assure you!), we noticed on her blog over the following days how much she and her husband were enjoying a visit to London and "making art" in South Africa. We did not get photos of different groupings of friends and relatives that we wanted because Joy Marie had declined to accept a list from us earlier and asked that we assign one of our guests to that task. Needless to say, the people closest to the bride and groom were going through trash baskets looking for the rings, not gathering people for photos. This was a huge loss, as some of these people had not been together for years, and might never be again due to age and distance. I was incredibly proud of how our bride and groom pulled themselves together for the sake of their guests and salvaged what they could of their wedding reception. My daughter came back from her honeymoon with a string tied around her ring finger. After two months and a claim for emotional damages, the custom engagement ring and wedding rings were eventually able to be replaced. However, we can't get the day back. We just recently got our completed pictures. They remind me of how much of the reception I missed. I feel so cheated, and am as angry today as I was a year ago. P.S. Be careful - when the itinerary for the wedding day was shared with Joy Marie, she told our planner that she and her assistants usually left after the cake was cut. Since our daughter's day included a sparkler send-off at the end of the reception, she wondered if they had to stay for that. Since our contract covered the full event, we were able to insist they stay. read more
