As a licensed therapist myself, I believe that what is taught in "mainstream therapy" are half answers to partial equations, a lot of "putting out fires" and fluffy symptom relief. What Samantha brings to clients is a way to sustainably extinguish these fires for good and help clients move into joy and abundance. Her approach actually merges many of the "mainstream counseling" models and theories that are in the mental health field (such as CBT, Narrative, Gestalt, Experiential and Positive Psychology) but I feel that she kicks them up a notch, helping clients rewrite their trauma narratives, take back power and control over their lived experiences and can even integrate any belief system. I got there quite early so I had time to look around. The waiting room is very clean and nice, albeit a bit sparse and quiet. The receptionist was very friendly though and greeted me immediately. Dr. Todd asked me if I had any current aches or pains (Why yes, yes I do!) and then gave me a rundown on how he would perform my massage. He also let me know that I could have him adjust the pressure/touch at any time during the massage. I don't like my massage to hurt a lot, but I am aware that there will be some pain because I like have my knots and tight spots worked out well. I didn't need Dr. Todd to adjust the pressure, because it was perfect for me. Ahhh hurts so good! I could really feel the knots loosening up little by little as he performed the massage. I know that these things cannot be magically fixed in one appointment, but I could tell that my shoulders and neck weren't nearly as tight as they were when I walked in. There were only two aspects of my visit that weren't 100% ideal for me. It was a bit chilly in the massage room (which detracted a bit of that warm and cozy, I-just-got-a-massage feeling), and also the oil used left my back a bit greasy. Overall though, this was a great massage and I would like to return, and SOON!
