Yum, I can't believe I stumbled upon this cute little shop today. It must be my lucky day. Cause I don't know if you've ever tried their Fresh Tumeric Tonic. If you haven't you're missing out, it's so refreshing & seriously satisfying. I also picked up a lilikoi coconut pudding & the fresh strong smell of lilikoi made me sigh with happiness. Then that first bite had that oh so good that hit the spot kind of feeling. Also can't forget to mention on top of my mouth watering snacks, their great customer service too. The gentleman behind the counter was kind enough to help introduce me to their products & what was left being that I came in towards closing. Plus let me take a few pics to post too. This place is tucked away in the little area next to the bank in pukalani right next to the clinical labs. I usually go here to get my labs done for my dr and I was hungry today. So I figured I would try out joys. I like to eat health food and the sign outside had some things that looked good, so I decided to order a few things. I got the tuna salad sandwich which was made with fresh caught ahi and came on a whole grain bread and comes with sprouts lettuce and other veggies. I really like the flavor and variety of toppings the bread was a bit dry and slightly stale. This the less than five star rating. I also ordered 2 of the spring rolls with the peanut sauce. I liked it but if you are expecting a true Vietnamese spring roll it's not going to live up to expectations. Not to say I was disappointed because I liked the flavors, they were a little small again compared to others I have tried and I have tried many because they are one of my favorites when the weather is hot. The peanut sauce that came with it was not really a peanut sauce but again I liked the flavor but it just didn't have that peanut flavor. The gentleman that helped me out was very friendly and helpful and was happy to answer any questions I had as I informed him that I had never been there. Overall on this visit I would give the food three stars and the extra star was for the excellent service from Brennan. I will definitely try this place again as they had several other options. read more

Joy place is a long-term maui business that provides what I would call 1970s style health food. It's a combination of food that was in diet for a small planet a cookbook that was extremely popular in the 70s which introduced vegetarianism to the masses and another cookbook book called the moosewood cookbook, which also had kind of whole-grain non-commercial recipes. The Quality of the food at this place is very good, but it is it does cost more than average. Inflation has hit a lot of food, providers, caterers, and restaurants and its hard for me to figure out if the prices they are fair. I know no one is getting rich at this catering shop. Today I had a Buddhas bowl and the Thai mushroom soup. Both were very tasty. I bought two small desserts and it came to $36. When I brought the food home I heated up the soup in the microwave. I thought it was very good. I wouldn't to call it particularly hearty. And the Buddhas bowl was tasty. It had quinoa in it.. I actually made myself a small half sandwich so that I would round out the meal. The Buddhist bowl was filling the soup was not. I ordered two desserts. There was a pumpkin dessert and a cashew base by the time I got home in 30 minutes it had melted a bit and the consistency wasn't what I expected. I think it would've been good if I eat it right at the store. I also got a bar which was an oat bar with chocolate and some other items in it. That was also pretty good I put it back in the fridge raider for a couple of hours and it did return to work. I hoped it would be this dessert was tasty. Overall I'm a fan of this place. It breaks the mold of cookie-cutter caterers in restaurants. There's no seating it's essentially a commercial kitchen with a grab and go cooler and a few items that I think you can order at the counter. Unique and worth checking out. read more

I am supremely delighted to discover Joy's place Live in upcountry Maui! FINALLY, a place with quality, HEALTHY, and DELICOUS food options in a grab-n-go set up! No more impossibly long waits at similar type establishments (see the Farmacy) or trying to make a reasonable decision at one of the nearby fast food joints. Quick, healthy, and satisfying snacks for those of us on the move. I had no idea this place even existed, except one day in a fit of dehydration, waiting for my chiropractor next door, I wandered in, not sure what to expect. I found the most delicious ginger tonic, as well as a 'raw' lilikoi chia pudding type of snack, which was so darned delicious, I went back several days later to explore another cup. I have also had several of their grab and go salads, and soups of the day, and everything is so very fresh, homemade, and healthy. They also offer periodic 'fasting' menus that consist of their homemade broths, green smoothies, and the like, that you can pre-order and pick up during those times. I friggin' LOVE this place, and it is now my number one spot for my grab n' go's on my working days or anytime i need a quick boost. Just about the only place in the area where you can get real (preservative free) food. They have soups you can buy by the bowl or quart. wrap sandwiches using bread or Greens as a wrapper. Salads and sometimes cookies. There are fillings to please everyone, veges , turkey, and tuna and they are all delicious. joys also sells cleanses, all freshly made. So if you are craving a non deep fat fried lunch this is the spot. Or you can pick up some soup to punch up your dinner. read more

I was referred here by my accupuncturist for quick and healthy treats. I sampled a couple and was Impressed with the flavor and how I felt. They have a really nice selection of fresh and frozen soups, amazing almond milks, salads and snacks. Everything I've tried has been so delicious and flavorful. It's surprising it's also healthy. I love in town, but stop by here every time I'm in upcountry now to see what else they have. Whole Foods has also started carrying a couple of their products, which I'm really happy about. The owner or whoever drives a car with the license plate "TRUTH" came to check if she locked the doors tonight- every parking stall was open but she decided to park next to my sisters car where my younger cousin was walking to get her bags after her volleyball game. While grabbing her bags from the back seat, this older lady opens her door.... Hitting my cousin physically and my cousin was the one who said sorry for being in the way, and this lady ignores us completely like we weren't even standing there- walks up to the door and makes sure it's locked. So I'm looking at her and decide to stand up for my cousin and say excuse me and to not be rude like that towards anyone. She said "well you're just judgmental". How the hell am I judgmental when you, an older ADULT hits a CHILD physically and purposefully with their car door and doesn't say ANYTHING about it. It was the most disrespectful attitude coming from someone who should know better. I'll go home and pray for her. read more
