This place is tucked away in the little area next to the bank in pukalani right next to the clinical labs. I usually go here to get my labs done for my dr and I was hungry today. So I figured I would try out joys. I like to eat health food and the sign outside had some things that looked good, so I decided to order a few things. I got the tuna salad sandwich which was made with fresh caught ahi and came on a whole grain bread and comes with sprouts lettuce and other veggies. I really like the flavor and variety of toppings the bread was a bit dry and slightly stale. This the less than five star rating. I also ordered 2 of the spring rolls with the peanut sauce. I liked it but if you are expecting a true Vietnamese spring roll it's not going to live up to expectations. Not to say I was disappointed because I liked the flavors, they were a little small again compared to others I have tried and I have tried many because they are one of my favorites when the weather is hot. The peanut sauce that came with it was not really a peanut sauce but again I liked the flavor but it just didn't have that peanut flavor. The gentleman that helped me out was very friendly and helpful and was happy to answer any questions I had as I informed him that I had never been there. Overall on this visit I would give the food three stars and the extra star was for the excellent service from Brennan. I will definitely try this place again as they had several other options.

That's your fresh board for a very good takeout restaurant

Joy place is a long-term maui business that provides what I would call 1970s style health food. It's a combination of food that was in diet for a small planet a cookbook that was extremely popular in the 70s which introduced vegetarianism to the masses and another cookbook book called the moosewood cookbook, which also had kind of whole-grain non-commercial recipes. The Quality of the food at this place is very good, but it is it does cost more than average. Inflation has hit a lot of food, providers, caterers, and restaurants and its hard for me to figure out if the prices they are fair. I know no one is getting rich at this catering shop. Today I had a Buddhas bowl and the Thai mushroom soup. Both were very tasty. I bought two small desserts and it came to $36. When I brought the food home I heated up the soup in the microwave. I thought it was very good. I wouldn't to call it particularly hearty. And the Buddhas bowl was tasty. It had quinoa in it.. I actually made myself a small half sandwich so that I would round out the meal. The Buddhist bowl was filling the soup was not. I ordered two desserts. There was a pumpkin dessert and a cashew base by the time I got home in 30 minutes it had melted a bit and the consistency wasn't what I expected. I think it would've been good if I eat it right at the store. I also got a bar which was an oat bar with chocolate and some other items in it. That was also pretty good I put it back in the fridge raider for a couple of hours and it did return to work. I hoped it would be this dessert was tasty. Overall I'm a fan of this place. It breaks the mold of cookie-cutter caterers in restaurants. There's no seating it's essentially a commercial kitchen with a grab and go cooler and a few items that I think you can order at the counter. Unique and worth checking out.

Cold Buster and Immune Booster Tonic are always in my fridge

Hidden treasure right by the beach. Loved having vegan options and the food was excellent. Best meal we had on our trip to Maui.

Ask the Community - joy's place LIVE!

Can you pleass give a landmark of what's next door, across the street, or a cross street (all would be great)?

It's off of Makawao Ave in the Kojimas lot First Hawaiian bank backs up to the lot but it's easiest if you enter at the Kojimas parking

Wish you could bring the farmers market to your home, or a nearby pickup location? Maui Hub has…read morethat and more! The Hub is an amazing aggregator of local produce, eggs, meat and seafood, specialty foods and value-added products, herbs, and body care items, with freshly harvested seasonal offerings every week. Everything is local to the state of Hawai'i, most from Maui County, and each item identifies the farm or producer it came from, along with a description. How it works: create an account, place your order between noon Saturday and midnight Monday, and choose your pickup or delivery option (pickups are on Thursday, Fridays, or Saturdays, depending on location). If you're trying to eat more local and sustainably grown food but farmers markets aren't meeting your needs, check out Maui Hub. You can sign up for text and/or email reminders so you know when ordering is open and when your order is ready, which is a super helpful feature. SNAP-EBT is accepted and the Hub offers 50% off fresh produce and poi for these customers, as well as free home delivery. https://www.mauihub.org/

I've been using this service for a few years and overall had a good experience albeit not perfect…read more I recently complained that items were being cancelled on a weekly basis. All of these items were in high demand and since this a first come first served service made me question why this was happening as I always order right when the hub opens .Since then they haven't cancelled anything in my orders however both my subsequent orders have been unpleasant. Last Saturday I had a soaked through box and when I opened it the kombucha I ordered was on its side and had leaked all over everything and was half empty. When I removed the bottle I discovered the cap wasn't tight and when turned sideways it had a slow drip. Today's order again had all the items however you can see the state of the two avocados received. The lettuce was sold as a "living lettuce head " for 4.65 It's the size you would get at Lowe's to plant. It's unfortunate because there are really good purveyors who are selling their goods on this platform but unfortunately the management of this place seems to be less than adequate.
