Finding a great headshot photographer can be painful both mentally and financially. There are tons to choose from and unfortunately they're not all great. I have found my head shot photographer. I was resistant to doing another session of pictures...not because I've been disappointed in the past; in fact, I've been pretty satisfied. But after hearing enough times that "they could be better" and that Jean Paul is the guy for the job, I bit the bullet. I am beyond thrilled I did...forget satisfied, I'm elated with the work this guy does. With music and conversation, JP creates a comfortable environment designed to bring out your natural energy and more. After already getting great looking shots of my best "me", Jean Paul insisted we try some other stuff, loaning me a sports coat and then a vintage jacket to evoke more sides of my personality. Each of these looks came out so different, yet still so true to who I am. And the lighting and angles were superb. A few weeks ago, I shot with JeanPaul, and I can't recommend shooting with him enough! I've never had a shoot like this before. Taking actor headshots is like pulling teeth for me. Don't get me wrong, I've had fun photo shoots, but I usually dread it going in, and I'm always glad when it is over. This was unlike any experience I've had though. Actors, you know that feeling when you book a gig, and then you shoot it, and when you wrap, you're still on a high, and want MORE? That was how I felt after our shoot, which for headshots is new for me! Like I said, I usually want it to be as quick and painless as possible. After shooting, I felt like I just performed and rocked it out. He's a fellow actor friend, in fact, someone I see time to time at the same auditions. I bring this up for two reasons; he coaches you through as an ACTOR, and I felt like I was being directed on a gig. He knows his stuff, and takes the time to bring the YOU out of you. Now, as I mentioned I know JP, so he was able to talk to me, and bring stuff up in our shoot that helped me play along and have fun. I know a few people who he shot with since, who didn't have a previous connection to him, but JP took the time to get some basic info, that he could use during the shoot. I've never had that in my shots before, and I believe it makes a difference, especially when photos don't translate talent, they just translate YOU. The second reason I brought up that he is a fellow actor is important. Even though we sometimes go in for similar things, he absolutely did HIS best to give me MINE. THAT means a lot to me. I have never heard, "these photos really get YOU." so many times as with my photos from JP. He's Very generous, humble and will make sure you shine. I had a great session with JeanPaul at ThoseHeadshots! I booked the $175 for $300 in credit deal via Yelp and it was pretty easy to redeem (the studio website has an online scheduling tool). The session with JeanPaul went well. He was very personable, funny, and made me feel comfortable (I'm not usually too comfortable during photo shoots, so I felt JeanPaul brought out the best emotion from me). The shots turned out well and I've gotten compliments from both my colleagues and friends. While I opted for the two look two shot package, I liked my photos so much I got 6 extra photos ($20 for each additional post-processed photo - which I thought was very reasonable given the high quality of each photo). I received my final processed photos less than 24 hours after my shoot and was very satisfied with the results.
