Checked out this place due to a recommendation by a friend and I can say it did not disappoint. When you walk in, you will be greeted and welcomed warmly. Since it was our first time there, we were given samples of chicken, pork and beef to try. I ended up ordering the chicken pita. It was huge and very tasty. You get a lot of meat and vegetables. You will not be able to finish it. You can easily share between two people. My only regret is that I did not dine in and did take out instead. It gets pretty messy. I could only finish some of my pita and I wanted to save the rest of it and take it home. But it's wrapped in wax paper and placed in a paper bag. As I was eating my wrap, the toppings fell out, making a hole in the paper bag. So I couldn't save it and take it home. Same thing happened to my friends. Good food. Huge portion size. Great place and ambiance for dine in but I ordered to take out. Worth the price. I tried Donair pita sandwich and chicken club sandwich. Donair was amazing. Chicken club sandwich was little too salty though. Owner is really nice and generous towards preparing food When I said it is my first time, he even gave me free sample of meat to try. This is a tiny hole-in-the-wall place beside a Harvey's and a Subway, just off the 401 as it passes through Beaumont. As you're heading east, take the exit and loop around a corner and you'll find yourself in a little plaza with parking and these chain fast food places and then JP's sandwiched in the middle. The front window is plastered with listings of the types of pita available, and inside has a very eclectic decor with a few tables to sit at if you like. There is also a shared outside patio space in front of the Harvey's with some picnic tables for folks to eat outside. The proprietor clearly works extremely hard and long hours to keep the place going and has some dedicated regular patrons; I stopped by on my way from Toronto to Kingston on the 401 and decided I'd rather try something unique than a fast food chain. When I arrived one of the regulars and his daughter were finishing up some pitas and the proprietor was discussing the rising costs of supplies with someone who was getting take out, so I asked the regular which pita they'd recommend. "They're all great!" was the answer. He'd just had the donair pita and his daughter the chicken club, and he recommended both, but said I couldn't really go wrong with either. So I tried the donair pita and yep, it was quite delicious but also HUGE. Couldn't possible finish the entire thing, so had half left over for lunch the next day (and it was great then too). He also had a good selection of drinks available; Fentiman's Ginger Beer isn't something you'll usually find at a highway stop, but there it was and delicious also. The most amusing part of this place was the owner, however. He kept up a running commentary and is clearly quite a local personality; fridge magnets and t-shirts were available with his face plastered across them. He described how he sources all his unique ingredients from all over the place, and how he gets only about 3 hours sleep a night because he's so busy with this place. Then he asked how old I thought he was, and told me he's 70 (I'd have guessed mid 50s) and that the secret is scotch. Then asked me if I know what scotch is, to which I said definitely yes, and he insisted on pouring both me and him a small shot of Johnny Walker Red Label on the spot, before continuing with the random conversation including the price of food lately and asking whether I spoke French for some reason. It's a small business and JP works himself and he is excellent in starting conversations. I ordered a chicken pita which was stuffed with so many fresh veggies and so tender chicken. The sauces and chutney was absolutely mouth watering. I also got one large potato wedges which were nicely seasoned and good portion. That sandwich is good for two people although I was able to finish it myself. read more

My boyfriend and I visited JP's for the first time today, owner was super friendly and polite. He got our food made super quickly. I tried the gyro pita and my boyfriend had the chicken caesar pita; we both enjoyed our pitas so much. The ingredients are crisp and so fresh, and it's honestly such a great deal for so much food. Neither of us could finish our pita in one sitting so we have a snack for later now!! Their fries were served hot and crispy, can't wait to try one of their poutines next time. JP is a super fun guy. You can tell as much since his pictures are EVERYWHERE! My first time visit and well he claims to have authentic Donairs so I had to drop in.( I visited 2 breweries in the area what can I say.) If I had to rate the food I would give a 3. Portion size is great and the meat is tasty but the sauce is not as good as I would have liked. Put it this way, if you like mayo you would love it. The place is quite divey but most of the good places are lol. Now if I had to rate the place on the experience? 5.5 stars. JP is awesome hell my 18 yr Daughter adores the guy haha. She bought a shirt of his and he even threw in a poster for her wall lmao. Because it was our first time there JP shared different meats and even had a shot of Johnny Walker red with me. Apparently he does this with a lot of his regulars. Like I said if you want a laugh, story and a fun experience. Check this place out. A hidden gem just off the 401 in Bowmanville! JP's specializes in massive pitas , mostly based off a variety of pulled meats. While the sandwiches were very good (try the pulled beef with dill tzatziki), the real star of the show is the owner himself, who couldn't be friendlier or more welcoming. Not only did he let us sample several different fillings before we ordered, the kids got free popsicles at the end of the meal. The interior of the restaurant is unique, with pictures of the owner and customers covering the walls. One pita will feed two people. The onion rings are good as well. read more

So I was here today with my husband. The owner has a huge personality and I thought he was awesome. We ordered a pulled Beef combo and a falafel salad. I asked the owner to put hook me up with anything he felt should be served with the pita and the salad. HOLY!!! I will say that while I was waiting, a very picky lady was ahead of me and I must say the fellow that owns the shop was very patient with her. Changing her mind every three minutes and holding up the line..... Kudos to him because I have no patience for this type of thing. Dined here twice in two days, enjoyed it so much the first time I road tripped to the area so I could have lunch here again today. Had the east coast donair both time's. Walking in only to buy some soft drinks, but the place smelled sooooo good. Owner offered samples that were so delicious, we could not resist. Got meat lover with beef, pork and chicken. Homemade tzaztziki sauce! It was so fresh and delicious. The owner is super friendly and engaging. Showed us the meat in the oven. Told us he works 17 hours a day and cooks 500 lbs of meat a week. He puts a lot of love into his food and it shows. Bonus - the fries were some of the best I've tasted, fresh hot w touch of sweetness.
