JR Fencing built my beautiful fence in 2108. In 2023 the posts were rotting under the ground. I called John several times, but did not return my call. I had a male friend call and John returned his call quickly and even came out to my property to look at the posts. John said that posts rot. I did not think that pressure treated wood rotted within 5 years. He would not even give me a discount to to the repairs. I had a friend put a support in, with cement above the ground and all around the posts so the water does not seep in. read more

They quoted me an outstanding price and so I had them install my new fence. The fence was very well crafted and the install only took a few hours. I understand running a business can be a challenge but J+R Fencing is so unprofessional, I had no choice. They initially installed a fence around our home. It looked fine. No problems. I paid as agreed. Two years later it started falling apart. Called JR Fencing. No issues around payment. I was happy to pay for repairs. We agreed on a price and a date for them to come by and do the work. Never showed up. Despite multiple calls and emails they totally ignored me. So unprofessional. I originally thought they did a good job on our fence but when we had problems with the gate not staying closed we could not get anyone to return our call or email (even pre-COVID). We tried to contact them for over a year. It wasn't built well and keeps sagging. So even if we move the latch so it meets up, the gate continues to sag necessitating us to again move the latch further up the gate. Also I think the wrong nails were used on part of our fence as the boards look like someone wearing eye makeup was crying. Many sections of fence have two black lines running down from the nails. The spacing is such that there are now gaps between the boards that you can see through. I wouldn't recommend them and wish we had gone with another company. read more

I was called back by John who came by the following day. Later that afternoon I received an estimate. I agreed to have them replace my entire fence and 2 gates and got put on the calendar to complete the job. Their communication was always ahead of me asking questions and the entire job was done in two days. The guys did a great job and cleaned up after themselves both days. I appreciated John swinging by the following day to make sure everything was ok and that I was happy with the job they had done. John Ratti is our HERO. Disabled Veteran Brian Jergens, US Army was injured during his first deployment to Afghanistan. At 24 he returned home to his newlywed wife and newborn son with tramatic brain injuries, missing both lower legs, fingers and teeth. The Jergens' got a new home built for them in Hollister, CA, but the organization did not install fences. John Ratti heard about their plight and DONATED THE MATERIALS & LABOR to install fencing around the Jergens' 1 acre lot! They had the holes drilled, posts set and fences up in an incredible 3 days. My neighbor and I agreed to split the cost of a communal fence replacement, plus my neighbor wanted a new gate. I called this company; they took a week to reply. I made it very clear on the phone, in person and written on the contract that the cost of the fence would be split 50/50, plus they would pay for their own gate. Upon completion of the work I promptly paid my portion. 36 days later they called me to say the neighbor had not yet paid their bill. When I reminded them that I told them several times it was split and the neighbor was paying for his own gate, they got quite hostile and rude. The owner claimed he did not remember our conversations and as far as they were concerned the remainder of the bill was my responsibility. They told me that if it was not paid in two days that they were going to take me to small claims court. I have excellent credit and you can imagine how upsetting it is to hear that someone is going to sue you for a bill that isn't even yours. I will never use this company again. Let the buyer beware; if you hire these people make sure you and your neighbor get separate contracts if they will even do that. Better yet, find another company to fix your fence. read more

Sometimes contractors that are hard to get a hold of are busy because they do good work. They did call us back, not too quickly, but within a reasonable time. They were the lowest of three estimates to replace a section of fence blown down by the wind. They scheduled the job a couple of weeks out but had a cancellation and came in a few days.
