Our outdoor projects were just completed by JT and his crew and we are very happy with the job that they have done. The projects included replacement and extension of existing concrete patio with pavers, leveling of the backyard, fixing the stairs to the patio, fixing the stairs to the front entrance, trimming of a tree and replacement of front path to sidewalk as well as to driveway. It was an extensive project and we didn't know quite to expect. I had posted in Somerville Community Facebook page for recommendations and JT came highly recommended. We contacted a couple of the suggestions and he was the most prompt and professional. He came to assess the situation and provided really good suggestions (different than we had initially thought). It made sense to do what he said and we appreciated the advice. He was not pushy, however, just spoke with conviction and promised we would be happy with the results. He provided an estimate with details and provided it quickly. When the work actually started, he brought his crew and they were great. They were hard working, detail oriented and took pride in their work. There was a lot going on at once but they stuck to the schedule (came early and stayed late). We made adjustments along the way and they were happy to oblige. We were very impressed by the scope of what they could do. The tree trimming was a last minute add because we didn't know they could do such a job. It's pretty clear that they have extensive experience by the ease in which they took on each project. The price was reasonable and it was completely worth it because they did the work in a short time (over the course of 3 weeks, 2 weeks of allowing materials to dry and 1 week of actual work). I am in a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" because of the quality of work, diligence and professionalism . I always look to see if the workers are happy and that is the sense I got with them. I would definitely recommend this company if you have outdoor projects. We found JT off a Facebook post where he came highly recommended by others in our area and gave him a call. When he showed up for the initial estimate, we could tell he was very knowledgeable in his field and had the answers for all of our questions and then some. He and his crew built us a beautiful backyard patio, redid our front walkway and steps, fixed the drainage in our yard, and leveled out the bumpy spots throughout our front and back yards extremely quickly and for very reasonable pricing. 10/10 would definitely recommend calling and using his services to everyone in the area. We were very pleased with JT's work, replacing an old patio and walkway with new paver stones as well as tearing up old shrubs and replacing them with new deer-resistant bushes and long-lasting stones rather than mulch. Paid to have boards replaced and secured, a new railing and for the deck to be stained. This is how it was left. A year out and the owner keeps saying he will fix it then disappears. If you are ok with this level of workmanship they definitely got it done fast. If you were hoping for more I'd look elsewhere. read more

We highly recommend JT's business. We asked for an estimate for a new deck since ours was 20 years old. Very prompt response from Jim who provided a very reasonable estimate, with the understanding that the underpinnings of the deck did not need to be replaced. Unfortunately, once the top of the deck was removed it was obvious underneath was rotten wood. Jim went above and beyond in giving us new estimate for deck work, but then showed us another plan he had developed after looking at our backyard in case we wanted to do a patio instead of a deck, which would save money and allow for some other yard work to be included. The men who work with Jim are awesome. Prompt, friendly, cleaned up after themselves daily and very good at what they do. Jim was over almost daily either working or checking the progress. He's very easy to communicate with and had an excellent vision for our backyard. 100% recommend and would say to trust his vision and judgement. JT came through for me after the hurricane. I had 4 trees down and of course insurance covers next to nothing. Fence damaged and garage clipped as well His guys came today to remove the trees and worked on a very hot day to cut and remove these downed trees. 2 were very large. Jim from JT's is a visionary-- he not only provided several possible solutions for that problem, he also identified additional ways to enhance and improve our property during the project. Most important to my husband was improving the overall drainage and grading of the yard. Most important to me was improving the curb appeal and making the front of the home more welcoming. Most of the work was satisfactory but it is still not finished and he doesn't return my phone calls. There is one stump yet to grind. He chose July 26 to grind the stumps, only 3 days after a 2" rainfall. He made terrible ruts in the lawn and still was not able to grind one of the stumps. On July 26, he asked for payment and promised to finish the job soon. With that promise, I paid him in full. I made the mistake of not holding back some money until the job was completed. That was 8 weeks ago and it has been dry enough for at least 7 weeks now. He still hasn't done all the work that I paid him for. read more

Think twice about using this company. Work is subpar quality and they do not deliver everything they promise when the job is booked. Have been waiting months now for them to come back and fix everything, including cleaning the oil stains their equipment left all over my drive way. The owner also broke one of my deck steps and promised he'd repair this, but still waiting. There are too many deficiencies to even list in this review. After discussing my project on multiple occasions I tried for more than 3 weeks to get a documented estimate and start date but never got them. He sent me a screen shot of his notes dated March 31. It seemed like JT didn't want the job and was avoiding my requests. When I told him in late April I no longer wanted him to do the work, he simply said "no problem". James is a fast talker who promises a lot, starts the job, has been unresponsive to calls, makes appointments he does not keep, takes the money and does not finish the work contracted and paid for. I needed to have some stumps ground out, saw one of the JT Landscaping trucks locally, and left a message through their website. I received a call back quickly, and made arrangements for a quote. James arrived at the time promised, and provided a quote immediately - a very good rate. We scheduled the work for two days later, and James and his crew came back as promised. The work they did was done quickly, only two half-days, and done very well! The first day, James and a co-worker located and ground out a LONG row (length of property - 150 feet) of large hedge stumps, cleaned up the grindings, and had it all done in record time. The next day, James and his co-workers brought and spread 7 yards of topsoil, planted 5 trees, put down grass seed and hay, and cleaned up the leaves from the entire property, front and back. I didn't ask to have the clean-up done, but they did it and included it in the original price. James was very nice to work with. He and his team were pleasant, polite, and professional. James threw in a few extra items, found and included the trees, and kept the price very reasonable. I felt that the price I paid for all of the work that was done was excellent. I made the appointment and was told that the owner would be out to see as at 1pm. It was almost 3pm when the "owner" James showed up to my home without calling or returning any of my attempts to contact him. He stumbled up to my door and it was immediately clear that he was intoxicated, he smelt like he just finished up drinking all night, was slurring his words and asked to sit down because he could not stand steady on his feet. We began discussing what I wanted and he was throwing out quotes that I knew were overpriced thanks to my husband wokring landscaping in college. Once I let James know that I knew he demanded to speak to my husband "because women don't know business". I politely asked him to leave and he did, but not before mumbling an obscenity under his breath, knocking my chair over and slamming my door. I looked him up after the fact and found he has a rap sheet a mile long. Most disrespectful person I have ever had the displeasure of even considering to do business with. I'm glad things happened the way they did though, who knows what he would've done with my money had he shown up appearing professional. Would not recommend, ever. read more
