However, Dr. Bishop has been the first OB/GYN to truly listen and provide different recommendations for our fertility struggles over the last 4 years. She actually recommended us to a new fertility clinic to begin IVF in which we were able to get pregnant for the second time. Unfortunately the pregnancy ended in a second miscarriage which was discovered in office with Dr. Bishop at 10 weeks. Her caring bedside manner was so impactful as my husband and I were going through such a horrible situation, and it's been SO different and refreshing compared to my first miscarriage experience with my old practice (Century Medical Associates-- highly do NOT recommend). I have recommended Seasons to ALL of my friends because the care is top notch and the all-women practice makes you feel at home, even when you may be going through a difficult situation. The fact these providers actually spend the time to listen to you AND provide sound recommendations is what makes them stand above the rest!

I appreciate their holistic, personalized approach to healthcare - (they've asked me some thoughtful, out-of-the-box questions and do take interest in the whole picture of your health) - as well as their progressive lean and focus on healthcare accessibility. I was a patient here for over a year and I can tell you that all of these things are the real deal. The weaknesses of this practice - in my layperson opinion - are as follows: 1) Limited scope. They aren't an OB/GYN, and can't really take the place of one. As one of the nurses very snippily told me, they "don't practice medicine", sounding like I had walked into an Applebee's and asked them to operate on my foot. They practice nursing, I get that - I only expect a medical provider to, you know, help me, and not make my issue worse. Lots of folks do prefer midwives to the traditional MDs & DOs, and I can appreciate that, but their ability to diagnose and treat is much more limited than they advertise. For me, this meant visits with three different providers, a misdiagnosis, unnecessary meds, lots of invasive stuff, hundreds of dollars of unnecessary tests, and one sad patient with no answers. I wish they had recognized when something was maybe a little beyond their scope and just referred me out on the front end, saving me a whole bunch of misery. As with most things in life, YMMV. A limited scope of practice might be okay for you! If you're the picture of health and just want to pop in for your annual or grab a birth control script, AND if you're already connected with a solid gynecologist to see for any real problems, this facility might very well meet your needs. Because - my next point: 2) Continuity of care is lacking. They suck at referrals. I was initially told that they have a select few GYNs in the community with whom they work closely and collaboratively. But when I actually needed this referral, I was sent five+ pages of basically an indecipherable, broken wall of text and told I could self-refer to "that clinic at Magee" but that I didn't really "need" to. How helpful is that? 3) Pretty unprofessional billing/recordkeeping practices - I've gotten multiple bills addressed to the wrong person for my own care and have gotten bills with handwriting and white out on them. Their EMR/portal with Maternity Neighborhood is pretty poor quality and I've seen another patient's medical records mixed in with my own! A little concerning. Ultimately, my health concern was promptly addressed and treated at my first visit with an MD elsewhere and I don't intend on returning to this clinic. I do feel this place has a lot of potential and I respect all the positive reviews, but to me the concerns outweigh the benefits. I'd rather go to a more professional clinic with a higher capacity for service.

As a new client, it was tough for me to find parking for the center -- on-street around the center was all full. If I had known that there was a lot I could park in that would have been HIGHLY useful information! So -- a quick tip: If you go to the Midwife Center you can run in and just inside the door are parking passes for a nearby lot. GET ONE! The Midwife Center is in a converted row house and you have to climb the stairs to get to the reception area. When I walked in, I was clearly confused, but someone downstairs was kind enough to point me in the right direction. The women that work at The Midwife Center were friendly and receptive when I went in for my appointment. There was paperwork to be filled out -- although a nice touch is that it is all available online so you can do it ahead of time instead of going to your appointment 30 minutes early and racking your brain trying to remember every detail of family history. As a new patient, I was interviewed and seen by a Nurse Practicioner, and she was friendly, professional, and seemed interested in EVERY part of my health -- which I appreciated. They seem to focus on health for the whole person, not just one area. I really look forward to my care here throughout the years!

I asked a few friends and ended up here and am glad I did! So heading to your first appointment pregnant, and not just for a regular check-up is a different experience. There's actually probably about eight doctors that are a part of this practice. I rotated seeing all of them because any of the eight could be the doctor birthing my son. Of course with eight different people there's eight different personalities. Some I gravited to more than others. I really liked Dr. Udrea, Dr. Smith, Dr. Rowland, Dr. Hunkele and a newer doctor who her name escapes me, but she's younger. There's a few of the doctors that come off a little less friendly aka their bedside manner isn't the best with Dr. Dicenzo and Dr. Halfhill. They're fine, and Dr. DiCenzo actually birthed my second son and was fine... But she wasn't my first choice. The staff and nurses are all very nice and I mainly went to this West Penn location vs the other locations around the city. The nurses are actually very very nice just to spend a minute talking about them. They were always so sweet and it's weird after almost 10 months of going there monthly to not see them now! So if you're in the market for a new OBGYN, I would highly recommend this place.

She is wonderful and listened to me while respecting my decisions to not have a hysterectomy even though I should have, she supported me through my suffering. And she made great decisions when my sister had pre-mature labor at 7 months! My niece is 28 years old now.

The reason why is because I LOVE my doctor, Rita Raymond! Us ladies all know how hard it is to find this kind of doctor. The question of do you feel comfortable with a male docter, does the woman doctor freak you out a bit? It's definitely a crap shoot. That's why recommendations for a doctor is SO important. It's really crucial to find the right one for you. I knew when she hugged me after every visit. I knew as she was inspecting the nether regions and she started telling me a story about how her son dressed up as a banana for Halloween. Today at my appointment she asked me where my latest travels where, because she had remembered from LAST YEAR that I was traveling a lot! Plus she is so easy to talk to about anything you need or may have questions about. If you've been struggling to find a good lady doctor in the Pittsburgh area, she's your woman!! She's thorough, and you really feel like she's ruling things out as she asks you questions. You really can't ask for more from a GP. Facility is always clean, and the wait is typically minimal. The longest that I think I've waited is 15 minutes in the lobby. Once you're a patient, appointments are fairly easy to secure. Most times I can get in same-day. Note that Dr. Taylor doesn't work 5 days/week (I believe she is off on Thursday, but there is another doctor in the practice).

Everything about my experience was top notch from the phone call making the appointment to the post appointment follow up. When I made my appointment, I was given detailed instructions about not only the appointment but also about where to park and how to get to the area where the test would be done. I was told to arrive around 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork so I did. It took me about 5 minutes to fill out the paperwork and they took me in almost exactly at my 9:30 appointment time. The staff was friendly and courteous. It was wonderful that the doctor explained every step of the test so I understood what was going on and what he was looking at. The nurse was equally as friendly and informative. Overall, the service was better then I expected and I will no longer be hesitant if/when I have to make a return appointment.
