He brought back my ability to walk without the constant, horrible pain I was suffering with before. SUCH a worthwhile procedure. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to all my friends & family. I injured the outside of my foot running Feb 2016 - over 2 years ago. I've been to 5 different doctors, given cortisone injections, 3 rounds of physical therapy, put in a walking boot for 8 weeks, paid $500 for custom orthotics, tried acupuncture, cryotherapy, chiropractic foot adjustments, massage, heavy doses of anti-inflammatories, homeopathic anti-inflammatory creams, bought myself a little electro stimulation unit off Amazon... I've literally tried EVERYTHING short of surgery. One doctor said I need surgery, but another said I'll end up with arthritis in my foot if I do that. Plus, my insurance deductable is $8200, so surgery was never an option anyway... I've been in pain when I walk for 2 years now, and no doctor has been able to come up with a permanent solution - it's all been just managing the pain so I can get by. I'd read about PRP in the past & it seemed promising. One of my patients in the dental office I work at had PRP in his shoulder & it saved him from a joint replacement. I googled who does PRP in Redding & I came across Dr. Goodman's website, as well as a couple other doctors. I picked Dr. Goodman for 2 reasons: I really appreciate that his website has very detailed info on exactly what procedures he offers AND how much each costs. I'd spent SO much on failed treatments already that I appreciated knowing what I was getting myself into financially before making the appointment. The other reason I picked Dr. Goodman is the positive Google and Facebook reviews - I won't even go to a poorly rated restaurant, let alone doctor! I made an appointment for a consult. Dr. Goodman thoroughly assessed my foot, let me know why he thought I was a good candidate, what to expect during, what to expect after. Due to my type of injury and age (29), he thought I could be healed & out of pain after 3 weeks with only 1 treatment. Dr. Goodman comes across as an honest, genuine doctor & I definitely felt I could trust him and he was there to help me. I went ahead and scheduled PRP treatment! I was prescribed topical numbing cream to apply right before the procedure, calming meds to take before the procedure, pain meds for later. A little tube of my blood was drawn from my arm & then put into a machine to separate out the platelets and plasma (or something like that?). Dr. Goodman numbed up my whole foot and lower leg. He then injected the plasma mixture into my area of pain. Some areas of the PRP injections were uncomfortable - totally expected since my foot hurt a LOT just to push on. I appreciate Dr. Goodman's concern of my comfort and to make sure he wasn't hurting me. My foot was definitely sore when the numbness wore off, but I had the procedure done on Friday and was back at work on Monday. Week 1 after PRP: A lot of soreness & swelling - I could walk but was definitely slow-moving. Week 2: No more swelling, just bruising and some soreness. The sharp pain upon walking my foot had before PRP seemed to be gone! I was worried I was getting my hopes up too much but it was surely gone!! Week 3: Each day my foot would be gradually better. By the middle of the 3rd week I realized I had no more pain anymore!! I had the procedure done about 6 weeks ago and I now have a normal foot!! I can walk around my house barefoot (before I had to wear my old lady shoes and orthotics from the moment I stepped out of bed), I can walk my dog without pain, I can go to spin class without pain, my foot doesn't ache and swell at the end of the day, I will be able to go backpacking with my boyfriend again. What is SO COOL is that when I went for my initial consult, Dr. Goodman pushed on the side of my foot to find the most painful areas. It hurt SO much I almost collapsed. When he saw me last week to re-evaluate, he pushed on the whole side of my foot again and not a single spot hurt anymore!! I am absolutely beyond thrilled with my experience. What I thought was going to be a lifelong problem is now gone!!! My only regret is suffering for so long before having PRP done - I cannot express in words how frustrating my foot pain was and how grateful I am to have it gone. Gaining 30 lbs in one month and completely unable to get out of bed, let alone care for her,  I went to my doctor. She tested my thyroid and told me everything was fine. When I fought back saying everything was not fine she agreed, condescendingly, to send me to an endocrinologist. I was quickly diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease and placed placed on Synthroid. "You take this pill every morning, and you won't have to worry about this anymore." If I had a nickel  for every time a member of the medical community said that to me, my family and I could on a Disney cruise! For the following five years. I struggled with infertility. Eight miscarriages followed; many injections, many tests, and no answers.  The weight fluctuations continued, as did the out of control rage that could overtake me causing out of body experiences. Why couldn't I calm myself down? I had a doctor laugh me out of his room when I said I had heart palpitations, and suggest I undergo psychiatric treatment for trauma. My feet hurt, my head hurt, my house was a mess, muscle pain and muscle weakness abounded and more than anything I was exhausted. The list goes on and on. In January 2013 I gave birth to a healthy 7 lbs. 1 oz. baby girl. Immediately following her birth, I again crashed. I gained 50 pounds in one month. I produced absolutely no milk, as with my first. And every doctor that I went to see told me to eat less. At this point I was a vegetarian, having just changed over from vegan during my pregnancy. There aren't enough carrots in the world to get me up to the 267 pounds I was. It was a nurse who pulled me aside and told me it wasn't my fault. That it was Hashimoto's disease. I finally took my health into my own hands. I started to research Hashimoto's disease, finding out that it was an autoimmune disease. Imagine that, five years of struggling with an autoimmune disease and not one single doctor declaring it as such to the patient. I fired my healthcare provider and found new insurance and subsequently met and broke up with at least 20 medical professionals. I found that being gluten-free made me feel better, however every medical professional I talked to told me cutting gluten out of my diet was pointless. We have come to find I have celiac's. When my second daughter was a toddler I had the good fortune of coming across Dr. Nagel's name on a list of doctors worth seeing. All of them were further than one hour from my home. The list had been created by patients who had been mistreated just as I had. They had finally located decent doctors, and placed them on a list based on the kinds of tests they would run and the treatment they would give. It was clear at my first appointment that this doctor was different. Dr. Nagel was so warm, and confident. He asked me questions no other Dr. had ever asked. Is your hair normally this curly? How do your feet feel? Can I see your fingernails, please? He ran tests and called me back for a second appointment. He was matter-of-fact and comforting about his findings, "You have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and you need to be put on bio-identical Estrogen and Progesterone. I'm also going to switch you over to Naturethroid, and I will continue to raise or lower your dose based on symptoms as well as tests." He also was fairly certain that I was prediabetic and suffered with vitamin deficiencies. He placed his hand comfortingly on my knee and said, "This isn't your fault. It's not your fault you are obese, it is not your fault that you have no libido, and I can fix it." I couldn't stop the tears from falling. Fix it he did. He placed me on an auto immune Paleo diet, and set me up with a nutritionist. Turns out I was fairly knowledgeable about nutrition but I had no idea how to go about losing this extra weight as a woman with PCOS and Hashimoto's disease. In the words of Dr. Nagel, "This isn't your fault, you could gain weight on a TicTac" I have been seeing Dr. Nagel for four years now and I will let my pictures speak for themselves. I was a…read morepatient over a decade and went with a midwife for my prenatal care after being told that I would have to wait until my second trimester and at that time would have to sign a document committing to only seeing Selah Health for all of my prenatal care prior to even being able to see Dr. Kang to discuss all my options for prenatal care. I had my baby at a birthing center and after being discharged I and my midwife went to Mercy Hospital to see the on-call OBGYN for suturing. I was told by that OBGYN, who happened to work at Selah Health, to follow up if I had symptoms after suture placement, which I did. I called Selah Health and they refused to schedule me, informing me that I was under the care of my midwife for the first 6 weeks postpartum and to make an exception, I'd have to have a referral from my primary care provider. I went to my primary care provider and had them send a referral noting the symptoms I was having that I was told by the on-call OBGYN to follow up on if I was having. I then received a call from Selah Health informing me that they declined my referral. I then had to wait until the 6 weeks postpartum period was over to schedule an appt. I was able to schedule with the on-call OBGYN that I had seen at Mercy Hospital and had to wait an additional 6 weeks for her to be back in the office to see her. The day before my appt. I received a text message alerting me to complete intake online paperwork in preparation for this appt. At the end of the day I then received a call alerting me that the person who scheduled me had made a mistake and I was actually dismissed from the practice. I tried to access my online account and it was gone. Since I had blocked my schedule for this appt. I decided to still go to Selah Health the following morning to talk to someone in hopes to still be seen. They still refused to see me. I was told that their malpractice insurance carrier told them they don't have to see me. I have heard this happen to other women who were patients of record that ended up using a midwife for their prenatal care. Instead of seeing us, they are telling us to go to another OBGYN/gynecology office, even though they manage our gynecological care. I was not alerted ahead of time that this would be the outcome of using a midwife. I also was dismissed the day before my appt. without any letter notifying me of this decision. This is considered medical abandonment. I feel that I'm being punished for using a midwife. I do not feel like they care for my wellbeing and sadly I do not recommend their services.

For me, frustration has been building that began with Dr. Akman's refusal to run a basic test. I will never understand, because other doctors have run the same test. Akman's response was, I don't need the test because,"I know what it is." At other times he ignores abnormal test results. In my opinion this is negligence, and it so perfectly illustrates the personality and manner in which Akman runs his practice. Akman listens to no one and certainly not to his patients, and while we are admonished to participate in our own medical care, this is impossible to do under Akman's dictatorial style. Without an open and analytical mind, Dr. Akman is prone to making mistakes. I have put up with Dr. Akman's arrogance and rudeness for much too long. Reviews of Akman on this site serve to reinforce my own experience. Dr. Akman refuses open discussion and gives no evidence of caring for his patients. I have never experienced anyone in the medical field with the same degree of arrogance and lack of concern. I feel that he is at the burnout stage in his career--30 years with the same old variety of patients; he can no longer hide his impatience and irritability. His office environment appears as worn and tired as Dr. Akman. I am pretty certain that it is the need for money that keeps Akman going, not his devotion to his patients.

Injury on 6/30/23, surgery on 7/17/24. Had to have my regular Dr. from Corning make contact with this office or I would still be waiting until 11/6/24 for surgery. Dr. Brubaker specifically told me to contact if stronger pain med is needed after surgery. I contacted Friday, 7/19/24 by 8:30 AM. I also contacted yesterday, 7/24/24 as I need stronger pain med, a walker that is too narrow for proper use, & crutches that are literally falling apart after 1 yr of daily use. Still can't get stronger pain med as I was assured by the SURGEON that he would prescribe me if I needed them. The office staff is not doing their jobs.
