They are very knowledgeable about the area and always had a smile on their face. The room itself was very clean. I stayed on the second floor (which is the third floor to Americans) in a room with 4 beds. Inside the room there was a sink and lockers. With the lockers and a key card to get into the room, I felt pretty secure and my belongings were pretty secure. The toilets and showers are on the same floor. The shower area also had a bank of hair dryers- which was convenient. They had a big area to lounge around, a bar/restaurant area, and a laundry/kitchen area. Washers and dryers are available for a small fee. They only have two of each, so you have get to them early. They'll give you a map upon check-in which gives some suggestions on walking trails. The location is just a short walk into town. The area was very safe and quiet. I thought this was a very nice hostel to stay at and highly recommend YOHO to anyone staying in Salzburg. Very affordable also- especially if you book in advance online.

The services provided at the front desk include: a bar, coffee, tea, food and snacks. The prices aren't to terrible either. The WiFi is fantastic, and it seems to be throughout the entire facility, not just in the common areas. A huge benefit is A&O's proximity to the train station. It's a short and easy walk to get to the front desk. I highly recommend staying here.

We stayed here for a wedding held on-site; wedding guests got most of the building. Nice quiet…read morebunkbeds (there were three of us in a 4-person room), spacious common areas (especially the lower level event space), and easy access to the lake. Stepping across the road and hanging out on the lakeshore is the easiest recreation --- walking or running around the shore path is the next step up. On one run we saw some goofballs with rock-climbing gear paddling a toy inflatable rowboat off to find some cliffs --- not sure how their day went. It's a bit of a walk to a grocery store --- the SPAR in the center of town has most basics, and the little bakeries have more interesting stuff. None of them are next door to the Jugendgästehaus, though. There's parking if you're arriving by car --- which is probably the easiest way to get here. Good solid breakfast, helpful if slightly reserved staff, and plenty of lake time; suited us well.
