I got the Georgia apple pie and the ingredients scared me at first because in my Harare there was no way it was going to taste like one but it did and it was really thick. Yummy! The Juice Joint is a "happiness place"! I was thrilled to stumble upon this treasure in the middle of midtown. Finding fresh juice and smoothies used to be unheard of within the city. What makes the location even better is that there is a free parking lot, which is more difficult to find in this area. The woman at the counter seemed friendly; and worked quickly. The menu and choices are plentiful. There are several smoothies and immunity shots available. I ordered "The Boss", a good-for-you smoothie concoction of matcha, almond milk, banana, avocado, spinach and mango. It was quite delightful. $7 for the 16 ounce smoothie with no substitutions. There is a small bar counter available for seating, but it's pretty much a takeout counter atmosphere. read more

Would have never known about Juice Joint, were it not for some foodie friends. Hidden inside or Marcus Market, JJ is a great place to swing by if you're in the mood for a flavorful smoothie (not many, if any, juices actually on the menu). Very accommodating to those that may not like a certain ingredient (in my case banana - YUCK!). Great pricing and a private lot for parking. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll have to try another drink! read more

Marcus Market giveth and Marcus Market taketh away. Alley Taco has packed up and decamped for new digs over on Willis but just steps away this new subletted smoothie stand has set up shop in the back of this Midtown corner store institution. I've hit up the Juice Joint several times now and I'm liking what they've got going on. I've had the Strawberry shake, the Power Berry, the Sunrise and the Boss and I haven't been disappointed yet. I'm not a big kale guy but the Boss had just a touch mixed in with other more palatable ingredients that allowed me to ingest that oh-so-trendy hipster health food with no annoyance. They have other concoctions with ingredients I'm not keen on but I know what I like and I'm smart enough to avoid them. Different strokes for different folks, right? One of these days I'll have to try one of their kombucha drinks. The woodworking on their enclosure there in the back of Marcus is very attractive. Camillo did a great job on it. And the staff has been nothing but friendly so far. I also like the big glass of brightly colored straws of varying circumferences they set out for you. I especially appreciate the extra fat ones for the super thick smoothies. No giving your lungs an extreme workout like you're trying to choke down a thick-as-a-brick shake through a dental floss skinny straw like you're at McDonald's here. They don't keep the longest hours and don't be surprised if you try to pop by in the middle of the afternoon when it's slow to find a "back in a few" sign. Hey, everybody needs a little lunch break. Hopefully, Juice Joint is successful enough to expand hours cause they're quickly ruining those $3 Naked juice drinks for me. Juice Joint is such a gem in my neighborhood! I often crave a smoothie and never want to go to Whole Foods because of their ingredients. JJ uses fresh fruits and veggies, plus they offer all of the add-ins I like. My favorite part about it is that the smoothies are ALWAYS smooth, which I can never accomplish at home. Dani was the person who made my first smoothie, and gave me a few recommendations, so I knew what to get next time. So far, my favorite is the green smoothie with avocado and an add-in of ginger. I also get an immunity booster shot, which is under $2. I wish they offered larger cups because they are sooo good! I will never spend my money at another smoothie shop in Detroit. read more

I visited Juice Joint a little after a week of their opening, so take my words with a grain of salt. The picture of Marcus Market that serves as the cover page for Juice Joint's Facebook page looks fairly modern... In reality, it's a run-down liquor / essentials store. Enter the market, and in the back left corner, you'll find Juice Joint. The overall asthetic of Juice Joint is pleasing - fresh fruit hangs from the back wall, clean surfaces, new and shiny. Alley Taco is set up right next door, which appears equally as trendy as Juice Joint, if you ignore the creepy, weird older guys that stare at everyone. We attempted to get a Copa smoothie and a Glow juice, but they only had about half an inch of pineapple juice, so we settled on a Copa and a Cure juice. The Copa had almost no mango and way too much banana (I'm guessing overcompensation for the lack of pineapple juice). The Cure had a nice balance - carrots, apple and tumeric. The overall experience was kind of meh. There's nowhere to sit, besides a few rusty, dirty tables outside the market. I would recommend Juice Joint if you happen to be in Midtown walking/biking about. read more

Put your order in and they gather all the fresh fruits and/or vegetables chop them up on the spot and put them through the juicer or into the blender for smoothies. It's simple, it's quaint, and it really is just a quality experience, not to mention the currently one-woman show is always upbeat and pleasantly conversational. The menu is pretty straightforward with enough variety to give you options but concise enough to avoid overwhelming you. For juice and smoothies, the prices are super reasonable especially if you consider what seems to be the going rate of $10 or more in the city. I almost forgot to mention the fun spin on cold brew with brew cubes and a few twists on the classic, again at very reasonable prices. Marcus Market may not be the crown jewel of Midtown, but Juice Joint is definitely a diamond in the rough worth a stop if you are visiting and worth becoming a regular occurrence if you live nearby. read more

I walked up at 4:50pm on 8/29. There was an employee with blue hair and blue eyebrows who was closing the shop. She had already put the sign out that you were closed, though we still had 10 minutes. We ask if she closed at 5pm, she agreed then continue to say that she needed to head out early because she has somewhere to be. Is her shift not somewhere she's suppose to be at until 5pm? I was actually going to purchase 5 smoothies for a group of my friends and you all lost out on business. This is such poor customer service. I will not be returning. This place is my new obsession. I try to go when I'm working in midtown or picking up tacos. Tried the "The Boss" for my first time and it was amazing. Fruit and flavors are very fresh no types of fakeness/GMO used products. Got a Blueberry Yummy the other day and added Avocado and it was amazing. Loved this juice joint tucked in the corner of a small market in Midtown Detroit. The bartender was super helpful and even had some fun making turmeric/ginger shots with us. The smoothie I had (strawberry/banana/orange/honey/agave) was extremely smooth and filling, a great meal replacement for being on the go.
