I agree with the others who have posted less than 5 stars on this site, craig, koscha and others. I wonder if Dr. Lee will post a reply to say "i can't find you in our database".. To sum it up.. used car salesman is pretty accurate. I felt that this place is pushing cosmetic services & products vs providing dentistry. - this is wrong in so many ways. It pains me to write this yelp review, but I just received another email from them reminding me that I should be sure to put aside FSA money for services with Dr. Lee. Yeah.. right. Here is my experience... My company switched dental insurance so I thought I would try someone under the company plan. The yelp reviews seemed good enough and Dr. Lee is close to where I live. I came in for a standard teeth cleaning, should take an hour, it took a little over 2 hours, here's what happened.. -Dr. Lee wears a voice headset and tells other hygenists working in other rooms while she is examining my teeth what to do.. uh.. multi tasking , but not on my teeth and my time, please. -My hygenist was told to by Dr. Lee that she would be back to finish cleaning the top section of my teeth. Hygenist and I sat around for about 30 mins while she's off doing someone else and finally gives up and finishes what Dr. Lee started. - typically , dental offices will take a simple set of x-rays. it took about 45 mins because they took an x-ray for every tooth. really? yes. really. - when Dr. Lee finally came back to the room, she showed me my x-ray, there were no cavities and nothing irregular, but I was recommended by her to purchase a night guard to prevent any future wear and tear - really? -- sort of like being recommended to buy a boat because the ocean is expanding due to global warming - then, Dr. Lee finally comes back to do the flossing, she exaggerates on how tight some of my teeth are during flossing suggesting that I may need some additional dental work. when I say exaggerate, I mean.. oh.my.god. i. can't. get. the. floss. out. from. between. your. teeth. --complete with eye roll. As I leave, the receptionist gives me a sheet of paper with recommendations of services & products to buy. Surprise, the night guard is listed on there plus some additional dental work to expand some of the spaces in my teeth. I'm back at my regular dentist. Will pay the extra fee because they are not covered by the new insurance plan. read more

I'd give this business 0 stars if I could. Dr. Lee tried to convince me that I needed to spend thousands of dollars to fix my teeth. When I tried to understand the cost breakdown, she became defensive, accusatory, and condescending. She used intimidation to try and force me to make a decision to have her do the work and she became upset when I explained to her that the treatment cost was out of my budget. She told me, "IF you care about your dental health, you will DO what I suggested. YOU need to make your teeth a PRIORITY." Her bullying went on and on. When we left the office, my 9 year old son said, "Mommy, she was really awful and mean." Here's the best part of the story. I decided to take the results from my exam with Dr. Lee to a trusted dentist to see if he would agree with her diagnosis and treatment plan. Turns out he COMPLETELY disagreed with her diagnosis and treatment plan. Out of the 5 suggested procedures that she insisted that I receive, he agreed with 1. Dr. Lee overcharges people for services because she has to pay for that million dollar building on Olympic and ALL of the fancy equipment that she has chosen to buy. She'll try and convince you and bully you into treatment services that you may not need. Seriously, steer clear of her and her staff. When I walked in I was very optimistic about my appointment. The office was clean, friendly & seemed well run....that's where it ends. I was there for a cleaning, but somehow my cleaning turned into several rounds of unnecessary x-rays & a very brief exam lasting two hours. Only at the end was I told they wouldn't be cleaning my teeth and I had to come back. I was told a list of issues would be emailed to me and they'd follow up with insurance, etc. A week later, still no email. Eventually we realized they'd emailed someone else my private information, thus why I didn't know next steps. We finally discussed treatment and cost once I was in the office for my follow up. It seemed rather costly, but I was already there and with my limited availability, had to take the appointment. FOUR hours later (after being told two hours max), I was finally able to leave. Never mind I have a job and the apologies were limited for keeping me from my job. Then came the insurance bills claiming I still owed more than the size able sum I'd already paid. It seems Dr. Lee's practice charges more than the agreed prices...so why bother accepting insurance? Then I proceeded to call the office to discuss the additional bills, but got no response for THREE weeks. I left messages each time, but somehow no one ever returned my call. I finally spoke to a lady about my bill. I admit she tried to be as courteous as possible, which I appreciate. She said I'd have no other bills and she was very sorry for my experience. Ok, that was nice. Until I receive ANOTHER bill. Apart from all of this, I didn't even see Dr. Lee, but her male associate. He was very nice, but here's a hint: I chose a female doctor to support professional women - not their male associates. You might want to ask if I cared who I saw. read more

Parking is tight, particularly in the afternoon - early mornings you're OK. The outside of the building is rather old - but the office itself is clean and remodeled. The reception area is small, though the seats are comfortable. There are TVs in this area but they're playing dental ads. It's like being forced to watch dental infomercials - annoying. Overall, the office and the patient rooms have a nice decor but again cramped. I'm not a large person - any one very over weight would be uncomfortable. My 2-star rating is really based on the performance and perfessionalism of the staff. The receptionists communicate well in person but are difficult to understand over the phone (bc of their accent). There friendliness is average, nothing spectacular. The hygenist is thorough and really takes her time w patients - in that regard I give her high marks. Dr. Lee - while friendly - has the 'used car dealer' attitude. I feel like she is always tries to sale you braces, veneers and other "enhancements." This gets really old and annoying. I accepted an estimate for suggested work, the estimate was a whopping $12,000!! I went to another dentist for a second quote, his estimate was for $4,000 and said that one of the procedures Dr. Lee recommended could be detrimental to my dental health. Needless to say, I had the other dentist do my work and I'm pleased w the results. In end, I continue to visit this office primarily out of convenience and for the hygenist cleanings/check-ups. I am not scared of dentists, thanks to my mother who made sure to take us to the dentist regularly right from since I can remember. But I also believe that a sharp, unyielding steel object prodding the soft tissue of my gums is unnatural, and willfully subjecting myself to such is some form of mild masochism; so I am also somewhat suspicious of dentists. So what makes me decide if I should like my dentist or if I should be suspicious of him/her? Light hands. (not to be confused with jazz hands, but I will allow magic hands) I have had about 6 or 7 dentists in my lifetime. Three of them made me tremble and want to weep whenever I heard the whisper of their footsteps nearing my chair. No, I am not a crybaby. No, these dentists are not unpleasant or monstrous-looking people. But the way they examined my mouth with their cruel, heavy hands was nothing short of agonizing and convinced me that dentistry must have been a medieval form of torture (no wonder they had really bad teeth back then!). The other dentists I had, though, made my visits seem like a walk in the park because of their light hands. Dr. Lee is one of these dentists. Aside from the light hands of Dr. Lee and Sam, my hygienist, they also try to give you different options for the treatments that you would need, not necessarily pushing the more expensive treatments to the patient. To me, it seemed that they care more about their patients' dental health than profiting from them, which is amazing. The office is new, clean, and reminiscent of a spa (LOVE their bathroom), which is a very nice bonus because the Pavlovian effect of the surroundings is an immediate relaxed mood that makes the whole experience seem even less of a medieval torture. The staff are all pleasant and knowledgeable. They can "scare" you to pay better attention to your dental health in such a friendly, unintimidating way. Also, their machines seem to be very new -- you can even have your crown during the same visit! My only qualm? Dr. Lee and staff, where was my after-visit candy? Didn't you know that you have to give me cavities so I will return again and again? The free toothbrush and toothpaste are nice and all, but candy is always more awesome! Was a patient here a few years ago. The dentist is very friendly, the office professional and welcoming. There is where it ends. The administration is crazy. They will quote you one number, you pay, they treat, then you get a bill for more. I truly believe that they pulled a tooth of mine that didn't need to be pulled. Julia Lee is a general dentist, but sells herself as an implant specialist. After she pulled my tooth, she started to plan for my implant. Told me I needed bone grafts, sinus lifts and every time I went in, her office quoted me a different price. Don't believe any of it. After I got over the emotion of this experience I went to a true oral surgeon and he was shocked at what I told him. Be careful with this dentist. If there's a zero , I would give that to this office. I came to this office because my dentist is out because of the Covid and this is the only office that's open. My teeth broke and I needed to have it fixed. She checked me and I said I just want a denture and asked if it could be done soon. They called the office whose doing the dentures for them then came back to me and said it could be done. They collected money from me already and the next day they checked on me again and tried convincing me for the dental implant on my other teeth. I told her no I just want dentures. Then they said I have a tooth that needs feeling and if not done soon I might have an infection and another tooth that needs crown since I want a denture done. So they did these that day and then took impressions for my denture. So, then because they did these, they collected more money from me that day. When they billed my insurance for these procedures, it is showing that they overcharged me. And also my dentures is not gonna be done not until 3 months after. WOW. I should have just gone to my dentist who is HONEST and BILLS me right. I can not refer this office to my family and friends. I don't want to go back to this office and I want my payment back. They even collected more than what my copay should be after my insurance pays. Terrible. read more

I left my dentist of 20 years, he was old school and hasn't changed his technique. He couldn't fit me in my schedule several times so i searched for a dentist that was closer and had good ratings and well as more current best practices. I took a chance at Dr. Julia Lee's practice. First, her practice wanted to give me long term dental health, and I knew I had problems. Secondly my other long term dentist was similar of a pot hole repair crew rather thanbuilding a new road. I have been a patient of Dr. Lee for about 5 years now I think. I have had a number of dentists in my life, and Dr. Lee is by far one of the best! I looked through some of the other reviews here and am astounded by some of the negative comments. I have never been "sold" on any procedure, unless I asked about it. There is no room they take you to to try to sell you. I have never been charged for services that my plan covers and there have been no attempts to do so. And as for the headsets they all wear? Which would you prefer, having the dentist leave you to attend to business, or taking a quick second on a headset to answer a question? Dr. Lee simply and sincerely wants to do the best job she can do for you. I needed at set of veneers on my front teeth due to stress fractures. She not only did such a good job that I get compliments on my teeth all the time, but when a slight crack appeared on one of them, she redid ALL of them at her expense with a harder material that had just come out. NO CHARGE to me!!!!! I love going to Dr.Lee's office. The office staff is great, and Samantha, the hygienist is awesome, too. Don't let the couple of one star reviews scare you. This review is about my general visits and more specifically, my wisdom tooth surgery. The staff is courteous at first glance, yes, but the more I think about it the angrier I get. Frankly, if I had the money for it, I'd probably talk to a lawyer for the following reasons: 1. After my wisdom tooth surgery, I wasn't given instructions on how to use my medication until later that night over the phone. I was in pain for the entire day because of it - in fact, my pain was extreme, I don't know anyone who suffered as much as I did. It was agonizing. And I have a very high pain tolerance so that says a lot. I did appreciate having access to Dr. Lee through the weekend, but still. It was the worst pain I've ever been in. 2. My mother paid for a "revolutionary" blood plasma treatment that wasn't given to me. I was told that blood would be drawn from my arm, spun in a centrifuge, and then the plasma would be put into my empty sockets. I was awake during the entire visit, I remember every second of it start to finish, and this was not done. I was actively waiting for them to do it because needles make me nervous. I didn't even have a bandaid or anything on my arm where they would've drawn the blood. My new dentist is highly esteemed in the academic community, and he's never even heard of the procedure. It was $800. This brings me to the next point. 3. I was completely awake during my surgery. I was told that I would get IV sedation, that I would "count down from ten" and be asleep - I was given a pill. Then two pills because I wasn't falling asleep. It made me feel woozy for sure, but I was wide awake. It was like drinking caffeine, but still feeling tired even though your anxiety level has risen. This pissed me off more than anything because when I confronted Dr. Lee I was told that I was "fading in and out of sleep." No, I wasn't. Despicable. I've been sedated before for a different surgery, fading in and out, and that did not happen here. I remember every second of it because I am terrified of surgery in general, so not only was I awake - I was alert. And it was horrible to see (blood) and hear everything that was done during the surgery. 4. I couldn't talk to a lawyer about this point but I will make it to corroborate all others - they do force you to buy treatments that you'll find you don't need if you consult with other seasoned dentists. These treatments are also coincidentally never covered by insurance, ever. And they will bully you, intimidate, and tell you things like "I know you'll be back because you're responsible." It's really outrageous and upsetting to recall, because it happened on multiple occasions. I almost never post reviews. But this has been bothering me for a while now. I'm a reasonable person, a bit too forgiving at times I'm told, and so if I'm driven to override my compassion for working people and write a stinging review like this, it's for good reason. I want to put this out there to save anyone from the suffering that I underwent, and the manipulation that was repeatedly attempted at me and my family. And perhaps, if the office reads this, they might take a step back and re-evaluate their ethics, and maybe grow a conscience. By all means, may they succeed, if and when they do so. They should feel ashamed for their ethics and for the suffering I underwent, because it was completely within their control to prevent it. read more

I walked out the other day after sitting in the treatment chair. Why, because I felt abused and bullied by the office manager. She came in and insisted that I have an X-ray. When I said no and would have it done the next time I had my teeth cleaned she went to check with the doc. She then returned and proceeded to give me a lecture on why I needed dental treatment. I asked for the cost, since I was self pay and noticed that the cleaning had increased by $15 since a few months ago. Certainly not a lot but I did not appreciate the haranguing manner and the way she spoke to me. Like others I felt this constant pressure by them to sell up. At my last cleaning the dentist came in looked in my mouth for a few minutes and charged me $60 for the privilege. He did write me a prescription though but I felt that I had to concur just so he would write me a refill prescription. They treated me like a little old lady. Well, I am a big old lady and do not respond well to bullying and will not be intimidated. The main reason I came here was for the convenience and also I loved Christie the hygienist who was excellent. The old adage on how to catch a bee with honey instead of vinegar should be noted. The Drs. would do well to really care and show areal interest in their patients, even the ones who only want a cleaning. P.S. I had Dr Julia Lee for the past year. I would stay with her office if my insurance wasn't changed. Her staffs are very professional and the office is very clean and modern. They have very high tech dental gears in there too. Customer service was great. Everyone knew my name every time I walked in. It made me feel pretty special. My gums are so much better and as a bonus my teeth are Brite and white! I didn't need anything extra today since my gums look much better. Dr. Lee has been our family dentist for over 15 years. Her practice is truly state of the art. Dr. Lee is passionate about learning the latest and best techniques and that makes all the difference, whether you're having oral surgery or a cosmetic procedure. Technology is always improving and Dr. Lee literally makes it her business to stay current and knowledgable. For example, my receding gums had been a problem, but I didn't look forward to the tissue grafting involved. Dr. Lee told me about a new, less invasive procedure. I just had it done and I'm so happy with the results. As far as veneers go, she is an artist. I have a beautiful, natural looking smile thanks to Dr. Lee. I really like the staff, too. So far so good. At first I was skeptical as I was told that Dr. Le was less costly than their competitors. As I was consulted I learned a lot more than I first knew about implants and what can go wrong over time. Dr. Lee took the time to explain the pro's and cons concerning the procedure I was asking for and considering going to El Salvidor to have done. She was passionate about her conviction and came up with a far better solution that would fit my needs and budget. Not only did she hear my concerns she made me understand hers as well as provided comprehensive facts to back her position. I have chosen to go with her recommendation. I was quoted a price which consumed my budget although a lot of services and preventive measures were considered and performed to preserve what I had left of my natural teeth. I feel that Dr Lee is very knowledgable and capable to practice her craft. She is sensitive to her clients needs as well as their personal situations having to do with finances and private matters. Most of all, it is more than obvious that she is passionate about her skills and craft. She is outgoing and professional as she turned my way of thinking around and showed me her skills and dedication to take on a difficult dental procedure while keeping within my budget. So far Dr lee has gone above and beyond what was lined out in our treatment plan. She has proceeded without additional costs to provide what was needed as well as worked overtime into the night to complete the first procedure carefully as well as being more than sensitive my personal needs and issues. Friday, 4:30 p.m. I reached out to Julia's office and the amazing and friendly staff recognized the severity of my situation and was able to fit me in immediately. I was on vacation and couldn't see my normal dentist. They used state-of-the-art technology with x-rays and there's a clear picture of the problem. They were able to prescribe antibiotics and help me address pain until I could get home. I wish there was a practice like Julia's in my hometown. They will take care of you, fit you in quickly, treat you with such professionalism in kindness. I really can't say enough good things about them. I agree with most others. It seems like they are pushing to get the most money they can out of each patient. That probably explains all the flyers and other marketing expenses. Some things that bothered me, Bear in mind that one or two issues might not be such a big deal, but the sum of them is a concern. 1- Legal paranoia, every time you go in, you need to sign a form that you will not sue the doctor for that specific procedure performed on that day I found that odd 2- My cleaning, In my opinion a cleaning does some mild cleaning around the gum line.The cleaning was not as complete as other dentists do. I was told I needed to come back for a periodontal procedure. No ultrasonic water pick until you pony up. I had gone in because I got a coupon in the mail for a discounted cleaning, and I needed to find a Dentist close to home. I felt scammed, but thought maybe that is how they are doing it. 3- The hygienist came and gave me a well rehearsed presentation on how I needed to buy a special mouth guard. She spent about the same time on the presentation as she did on the cleaning. 4- $800 later I had my very own set of silicone mouth-guards (Perio-Protect), with a tube of hydrogen peroxide gel format (PerioGel). I had been instructed by the doctor to use this every day. The gel came with a warning along the lines of only use this once a week. Great!, two entities covering their butt's legally. 5- Jack of all trades master of none?, Cosmetic dentistry, sleep, Orthodontist, Oral surgeon. Doctor lee She does her own root canals, Pin Hole surgery, makes her own crowns, and puts in her own implants. I started to get concerned about this Wonder woman. I don't have an issue with 3D printing, that was very cool. However most dentists will sent you to a specialist for root canals and especially implants. There is a lot that can wrong with an implant, serious nerve damage, whole side of face paralyzed kind of thing. Google "risks of dental implants". This concerned me, like having you doctor perform surgery on you, vs using a surgeon. Seems like greed, not referring you to a specialist. They get a referral fee. 6- She said my 12 year old needed two fillings. At this point my wife asked me to take the kid to another dentist. He could only fine one cavity. Plus when the cavities are small they don't even drill, they use some type of filler. She does not leave any money on the table. How good of an Oral surgeon, Orthodontist, Endodontist, Maxillofacial Surgeon,Prosthodontist, Cosmetic Dentist is she? Google those terms. Or does she just need good lawyers? They try to sell you things you don't need. They told me I needed a mouth guard because I grind my teeth. 40 years never had anyway state I grind my teeth! If you're looking for a simple dentist and don't want to be bothered with salespeople, I'd look elsewhere. read more

I had my 3 wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Julia back in April 2018. She told me I have an infected root canal tooth and that needs to be taken care of ASAP. She recommended Dr. Choy in pleasant hill, but of course I had to do my own research and try to find someone cheaper. I found someone great in San Francisco, and I needed my X-ray from Dr. Julia. I called the office on Tuesday, spoke with one of the assistant, I believe her name was Joyce. When I asked for my X-ray copy, she had no problem that she will email it to me. Then I receive a call 10min later, saying that she can not release my X-ray copy, because I didn't go to the dentist that they recommended (Dr. choy). If i wanted my X-ray, I will have to pay $500! I told them that's a total rip off. It is against the law, violation to hipaa and i am entitled for my medical record! I have every right to get my X-ray copy! If there is any charge it should be 25 cents per page by LAW! Not $500!!! Of course the office manager tried to talk to me, and said the X-ray copy is $25!!! Wow!!!! How can u go from $500 to $25??? Then I said ok fine, I will the pay the $25, please email me my copy of the X-ray. I waited and waited on the email, I called and there were in a meeting or something that the manager will call back. Of course never called, I called back again, and the manager said they actually LOST everyone's X-rays back in September. Haha. At this point I am done with them. I will have to report them to the medical board. This dental office is unprofessional, doing everything illegal. I have sent so many friends and family members to Dr. Julia lee, I regret it so much. read more

Dr. Lee's dental clinic is amazing. As I entered the clinic I can feel the vibrant accommodation of the receptionist. The place was clean, stylish, classy and you will think it is more like a spa. After, I was assisted by Richard, the Rdaef, to one of their operatory room. He was very hospitable the whole operation and knowledgeable about my teeth problem. I was surprised as Dr. Lee was already in the room and greeted me with a smile. It was the first time I never felt anxious and stress while in the dental chair.
