TOLEDO SPAIN: While we were in Madrid we took a guided 1/2 day trip to Toledo Spain through Julia…read moreTours. I would highly recommend the guided tour for the information provided. The other issue is the meandering city streets could get incredibly confusing & too easy to get lost (also my GPS was practically non existent). Toledo is located about 1hr from Madrid. The city has an incredible history dating back over 2,000 years. The time span & empires that existed in Toledo are many & varied. Visigoths, Romans, Moors, Emirate of Córdoba, Christians to name a few. The city was an important center for many generations. The different empires, religions & architectural styles helped to develop Toledo's over 2,000 years into a unique city. In 1986 Toledo was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its many works of art and architecture are the product of three major religions - Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Walking through Toledo is like walking through a time warp as the city sits surrounded atop a hill w/the river wrapping around it providing a natural defense & fortification. While there are many churches in Toledo the highlight of Toledo for me was the Roman Catholic Cathedral of Santa Maria de Toledo. This Church is mix of Gothic, Renaissance & Baroque styles. The construction started in 1226 & was completed in 1493. This church was absolutely stunning

However, the Spanish commentary was two or three times as long as the English commentary. I do speak some Spanish and I knew that we were not getting all of the same information in English. We spent more time waiting around for the group to assemble then we did actually getting to see things. At every stop, we had to wait for people who were late showing up for the meeting time. They really need to have two guides for a group this size (50 people). I would not use this company again.

My family and I had booked flights to Lisbon, Portugal and to leave Madrid Spain. We were a family…read moreof four traveling (2 parents with 2 kids in the middle teen years) and with 2 grandparents in their 70s. Our goal was to stay in Lisbon one week, Madrid for one week, and then look for day trips outside of enjoying the city areas. I had spoken with several tour groups but they focus primarily either for Portugal or Spain. Usually not both. I chose Letango for the main reason that they could develop an itinerary along with scheduling drivers. I knew that with the grandparents traveling by bus or train would be harder on them with the extra walking involved. Carlos did a great job of planning the entire itinerary. He planned 2 walking tours in Lisbon, 2 day trips out of Lisbon (Sintra and Evora), 2 walking tours of Madrid, a tapas tour in Madrid, 2 days trips from Madrid (Segovia/Avilla, and Toledo), a Flamenco show, and a cooking class. That allowed our family to focus on the culture and the trip versus focusing on the logistics. All of the tour guides provided were courteous and helpful. They all recognized the wide range areas and adapted speaking points, walking pace, or in answering questions to all of us. They were also flexible when our whims caused us to stay in one place longer or ask about stopping at a specific location. I hope to travel back to those countries and will be looking to work with Letango again.

We had great guides and terrific communication from Carlos at all times even after the tours.

Not necessarily pay additional tours. The tour lady Andrea Gonzalez was kind, respectful and friendly, also the bus driver. 100% recommended.

Horrible Major…read moreIssues Encountered 1. Lack of Guide Support Our guide was notably unhelpful. Every time we asked questions, he would dismissively say he would explain later, which rarely happened. More concerning, he did not accompany us during free time, leaving an elderly couple dependent on my mother and me for assistance. Furthermore, due to the guide's strong accent, the couple could not understand him, and I had to act as a translator throughout the tour. 2. Misleading Itinerary in Vienna The itinerary stated that the first day would include a panoramic city tour of Vienna, showcasing "majestic avenues, beautiful palaces, large parks, and the vibrant city center," followed by a visit to the Grinzing district. In reality, we only drove past parts of the city and stopped at one palace, without entering the city center. We were dropped off near the opera house and instructed to make our own way back to the hotel. Additionally, we stopped at a summer garden but were only given one hour, which included the time it took to walk to and from the bus--a considerable distance. As a result, we had no real time to see or appreciate the gardens. 3. Substandard Accommodation The accommodation in Vienna was not a hotel but rather the Citadines apartment building, located far from the center and not up to the 4-star standard advertised. In Prague, the hotel was again far from the center (30 minutes by car), and my mother, who is 70 years old, is unable to shower due to the high side of the bathtub. As this situation is unacceptable, we have booked alternate accommodation in the city center and will not continue with the rest of the tour. 4. Poorly Organized Optional Activities The optional classical music concert caused unnecessary confusion. The guide himself said he didn't know why it was offered due to the conflicting Grinzing trip. Although the elderly couple had already booked the concert, they were told they couldn't attend. Eventually, the guide booked it for us--but without transportation. We had to pay for our own taxis (around €20 each way). Attending the concert also meant we missed the Grinzing visit, which had been included in the tour package. 5. Communication Failures The first afternoon in Vienna was wasted. We waited for the itinerary all afternoon, as instructed. Despite asking several times at reception--who even contacted your offices--we were told the guide would arrive by 8 PM to deliver it. This did not happen, and the elderly couple also waited in vain. 6. Unprofessional Response to Refund Request After experiencing these issues, we requested a partial refund for the services that were not delivered as promised and compensation for the additional costs incurred (taxis, missed experiences, alternative hotel). The response we received was dismissive and unhelpful, further adding to our frustration. Similar Complaints from Fellow Travelers "True! Don't go on this tour! It's really horrible, very disorganized... Hotels far away from the city centre... guides hard to understand..." -- r/travel forum post highlighting widespread dissatisfaction with service and organisation "Europamundo did a horrible job. We had to use public transportation for our paid tours. When I complained the guide told us that we needed 4 people to rent ..." -- TripAdvisor review expressing frustration about lack of support and unmet expectations On Trustpilot, the company scores 2.7/5, with 57% of reviews at 1 star--many citing disorganization, poor guide performance, and a 'herd' style tourism experience. Tips for Prospective Travelers Expect rushed itineraries, minimal free time, and guest-led exploration. Most guides speak Spanish or Portuguese; English may be secondary or unclear. Hotels are often located well outside city centers, impacting convenience. Elderly or less mobile travelers should carefully consider accessibility needs. Final Verdict This tour was disorganized and exhausting. It failed on core promises around guide support, itinerary accuracy, and quality of stay. The unprofessional response to our refund request further underscores the company's disregard for customer satisfaction. If you value reliable communication, support for elderly travelers, and flexibility, I would not recommend Europamundo. Date of experience: June 20, 2025
