I called during their business hours and was not able to talk to a receptionist about getting an appointment. So I left a message. They didnt call me back. So, I tried calling back a couple of days later, no answer. I still have not heard back from the office. I would not bother with this doctor. Cant even bother to call me back? A hard no. I think Dr. Chacko is smart, but that being said, she is simply too busy and her staff is awful. After two serious UTI / kidney infections in the hospital, I called her office to schedule a follow up appointment. They could not have been ruder. I called from my hospital bed very weak and ill, to make an appt. They basically hung up on me. I called several times and they said Dr. Chacko couldn't see me for a month. Then it was a nightmare to get any answers about antibiotics, UTI prevention, etc. I emailed the nurse and her response was "don't use this email address, call the office". I called the office several times and left messages; no return calls or response. It took forever to get my catheter prescription sent to Byrum Healthcare. I am changing doctors. Too bad because I think Dr. Chacko is smart, but if you can't get in to be seen after being in hospital for a week, can't even get a call back, smarts doesn't matter. read more

Dr Chacko is absolutely amazing. After being admitted to the ER for a huge kidney stone, she made time in her busy schedule to fit me in for a surgery because I was in so much pain and had a trip coming up. Kidney stones are a hellish experience I do not wish on anyone but I felt at ease knowing I was in good hands. Thanks doc! read more

Medical care is great. Front office staff is rude, incompetent, and might prevent you from getting the care that you need. Over a four month period between August and December, my wife arrived for appointments four times and was turned away because there was "no appointment on record". Now we've received a bill for four missed appointments at $100.00 each. read more

My mother's urologist for 5 years. When my mother's urinary tract infections became dangerous (she was hospitalized twice once becoming septic), Chacko stopped responding to her calls. The second time I took her to the hospital, Chacko had stated that since my mother had developed an antibiotic-resistant bacterial infection, she should not come to her office to be checked, or go on an antibiotic, or go to a lab or hospital - her office cancelled her appointments. Had I not taken her to the emergency room (she was kept 2 nights with pre-septic infections), she likely would have died. When my mother received a bill for missing the appointment Chacko's office had cancelled (which, was simultaneously billed for attending) she called Chacko's office to state she should not be charged. Chacko called her back and yelled at her and called her cognitively impaired - a mean and untrue accusation. The woman is not fit to practice medicine and is committing malpractice. read more

Chacko is PPO only, and I had a fairly bad experience with her office staff. I told them what insurance I had over the phone AND offered to mail them a copy ahead of time to make sure everything would be okay, but they said no, not necessary. So I get there for my appointment and within 30 seconds they tell me my insurance is a no-go--but hey, I could pay cash if I wanted ($300 - $500). I very SPECIFICALLY asked about insurance on the phone to avoid a 180 mile round trip for nothing. And I did mention on the phone (several times I think) that I was coming from a long ways away. read more

My experience with staff and Dr. Chacko to be the best. She answered all questions and concerns I had. I found her to be very knowledgeable and approachable. I'm pleased to have found someone I can trust. I never felt rushed in her office and her staff was excellent! I highly recommend Dr Chacko . Dr. Julie Chacko has always been compassionate and understanding to me during my very sensitive and personal ordeal. She is extremely thorough, patiently explains every detail, and gladly answers all of my questions. I've never felt rushed by her, but rather quite the contrary. I couldn't recommend Dr. Chacko more as a physician where I look for education (she was first in her med school class and did advanced training at Stanford) and compassion (she gave my wife and me a lot of time and information and heartfelt optimism) when discussing my situation; as well as recommending her as a surgeon where I look for education, hand eye coordination and, most importantly of all, judgment. I understand many physicians are themselves patients here and I see why. Polite, courteous staff too! read more

My experience with Dr. Julie Chacko couldn't be more opposite of the negative ones posted here. I've found Dr. Chacko to be quite friendly. She is always compassionate, thorough, patient and very knowledgeable. With each appointment, she takes the time to fully explain every possible option to me, including all pros and cons. Dr. Chacko also saved me money by giving me (twice) sample medications to last until my next appointment. I've never felt rushed, and have always been treated with respect. And I've never had to wait more than a few minutes to see her. Although it looks like I will likely need corrective surgery, Dr. Chacko is eliminating all other possible avenues of treatment first, which I greatly appreciate. Her staff is always friendly and professional, but I'd still go to Dr. Chacko even if they weren't. After all, I'm there to get treated by the doctor and not the staff. I feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Chacko, and I have complete confidence in her. I highly recommend Dr. Julie Chacko, if you are looking for an excellent urologist.
