Preslik RE: Extraordinary Dedicated Staff Dear Sirs: This letter is to explain the extraordinary care and service I received from your clinic and staff. On Friday January 22nd of this year, I called Dr. Tobis's office for a second opinion of a prostate cancer diagnosis that I had received that day. The staff member was very compassionate and kind, and gave me an appointment the following Monday on January 25th. From the moment that I walked into your clinic, I was greeted by professionals, that showed compassion and kindness, as well as showing that they loved their jobs. Dr. Tobis was amazing in reviewing my medical history and suggesting the treatment alternatives. He explained the treatments in detail, even drawing a picture for me, for deeper understanding. All the while, my wife was on FaceTime, able to hear and ask questions as well. We decided on a treatment, surgery, (as my doctor here, wanted active surveillance). [Surprising side note, my doctor here had run a further test that indicated immediate treatment was required but the results were not in until my surgery was already scheduled with Dr. Tobis]. Dr. Tobis, knowing that I was from out of town (three and a half hours away), scheduled laboratory and radiology tests right after his appointment. His staff and all the staff at the laboratories and radiology showed compassion, care, and kindness, while maintaining a high degree of professionalism and a very high skill set. Dr. Tobis has an amazing scheduler Karen Schuette (and Colby) who through the many calls, scheduled the surgery and the needed pre-op tests. They were always professional and kind, even though I probably call too often. During pre-op Dr. Tobis came by and again asked if I had any questions, showing that same personal care and kindness. He eased any anxieties that I had. He also came by after the surgery, showing compassion and kindness. He took his time with me to explain everything that would happen throughout my recovery. He was very personable and real with me. I know that he is very busy and much in-demand, yet made me feel as I was his only patient. My follow-up appointment a week after surgery with Dr. Golan was the same way. Dr. Golan was very personable, and professional, with a high skill set, showing compassion and kindness. He reviewed my test that I had taken the prior day with me and the results of pathology (Praise the Lord, no cancer outside of the prostate). He, like Dr. Tobis, and your entire staff showed extraordinary care and kindness throughout my journey with your clinic. I wanted you to know that you have an extraordinary dedicated professional staff that go up and beyond to accommodate, while showing incredible kindness and compassion. Two urologists confirmed that my biopsy and PSA results indicated early stage prostate cancer with the best path clearly a surgical removal of the prostate. After extensive research, I learned that Dr. Scott Tobis performs more of these procedures using the DaVinci robot technology than anyone else in SB county. The American Cancer Society advises that the best results for this procedure are obtained with surgeons who have the most experience with this technology. I am a 67 year old long-time triathlete, so clearly in good physical shape, and hence I expected a good result. In fact, the outcome has been even better than I expected. My bladder control has been almost 100% since the removal of my catheter one week afterwards, with no complications and complete cancer removal. Late last year, for the first time in my 70 years, I began experiencing urinary problems. These difficulties came on fast and furious. I asked friends for recommendations and looked at reviews on the internet. I've been a patient of Dr. Tobis for several years. He has helped me understand the nature of my condition and explained various options. He performed a TURP, which was immediately helpful. A few years later, when I developed prostate cancer, he performed a prostatectomy and referred me to another specialist for an artificial urinary sphincter to help with urinary incontinence.
